Guide for Final Chase - Perfection

Submitted by Rayku

Okay guys, I promised this a while ago and now I have a chance (huzzah!) I still have a limited time, and the guide is a f***ing 3 pages long.

Everyone but me despises Final Chase. It's the hardest level in SA2B, and probably one of the hardest levels in Sonic history to get a perfect run in. And I know all of its secrets (I think) Thank SS101 and countless others for asking 'wtf?' at my 'insane' Final Chase. So now we'll ALL play =D

Around the time of 8 seconds on the dot, jump off the rail and move to the right. Keep going until you see a 20 ring box. HA that, then HA again to the ledge above the drum. Spindash to the bumper, and double HA to the next bumper from the 5 ring box. HA on top of the tunnel. At the very end of that tunnel, do a big spindash jump. HA the tiger at the start ofr the next ledge after all of the drums. HA the enemy, then do another. Run up, grab the pulley. The instant it starts moving, you can get to the ledge. Run up and hit the spring WHILE still running, that way you'll get hit into a run on the ledge. Hit the zipper and hit the next set of drums at around 27 seconds. Only a lifetime to go after this =). Get to the drum that seperates the 90 degree angle, and jump off to the side and land on the ledge at the bottom. It may not look like it, but you can reach it. Spindash, and do another spindash jump and run, jump, do whatever you want to get to the check. 41 is a good check 1 time.

Grab the extra life in the left tunnel. Die afterwards, it's a bit faster. Jump here, and HA the 10 ring box, and HA again to the drum on the left (that's what I do) Jump, HA, and do another after destroying the enemy. Go down the middle tunnel. I suggest going spindash, to assure not flying off the edge. Hold A when you HA the bumper. Get to the platform, and AH to the drum. Keep double HA'ing from the enemies in between the drums. Once you see the long ledge with the shield robot, keep climbing the drum you're on until you can jump to that ledge. Spindash jump to the most left drum you see. Double HA to the next and last drum of the series. Be creative to get to the check around 1'23. My personal best is 1'18.

It's all elementary until you hit the spring and stuff. After the rail, if you go into a spindash and get lucky, you'll fly off. If you do, that's good. It's a bit faster, I think. If that happens, keep going forward and hit the wall, fly down and hit the rail. Keep going forward and land on the next rail. Fall down to the bottom-most platform. Spindash jump to the check. A good time is 1'34. You don't even have to jump, because if you hold A or something (I don't know, expermiment) and HA at the last second, you can make it to the check a bit faster. Run/lightdash up the wall, it doesn't matter. You don't have to hit the spring, jump before you hit it and land on the ledge before hitting the spring (that's the 2 second saver Cy taught me)

Spindash down the slope, and at the very end, jump. The gravity pull of the drum directly above you will make you go a bit up, and you're just waiting in midair. Go forward a little bit, and inch forward. Too far and you'll get sucked to the drum. HA to the next slope, and spindash down onto the rail. Be creative here, I don't know the fastest route. Just get past these little drums and go on the left rail. Hold up, and just get to the diagonal-up rail as fast as you can. Get to the check. You can die here, it's all easy from here. I think dying makes it easier. If you do, Spindash and just keep going forward the entire time. Get to the pulley and double HA from the enemy to the drum. Go upwards and HA to the spring. Keep going forward and stuff, and spindash to the rocket. If you get all this done, you're set. Hold down-left on the control stick and fall to the gaol ring.

perfect run is probably around 2'33 I think. You guys experiment. I'm done with this level
