Sonic 2 in 20:02 single segment
« on: December 09, 2006, 04:42:31 pm »
So, for anyone that doesn't go to sda often, my run of sonic 2 is up, I thought you guys might be interested. I thank everyone here for the competition, routes, maps, etc. that helped put this together! http://speeddemosarchive.com/Sonic2.html I'll recommend downloading normal quality, as high quality isn't that much better.

I probably should've mentioned this when I watched it last night, hey?

Highly recommended to all.

(I got low quality, the quality of capture doesn't really concern me, it's the quality of play that matters.)

It's an impressive run. I learned quite a few tricks while watching.
Never forget who you are.

Thanks for the praise guys! I know some of you are really really sweet at some of the other sonic games, you should give one of your specialties a full runthrough and submit it to sda. They are always looking for more runs, and some of them shouldn't even be that difficult after all the work you guys have put into time attacks here!

This is simply amazing!
I especially liked the Chemical Plant 2 route.

thanks! route is a modified version of both cybrax's and the tas' route, as obviously i couldn't control tails like the tas and never got to watch cybrax's actual route.

Vcr's are seriously so easy to find, but I can understand that you don't have the time and such to search around for one. Its going to be even harder to record next year when they stop accepting vcr submissions.

1. The price of dvd recorders is going down, so they think it isn't a big purchase
2. The quality on vcrs suck. Hardcore. Even on older consoles. Especially on newer ones.

I see a lot of people going out and getting capture cards instead of dvd recorders after they do switch, as they are really cheap and can be useful. That requires they have some knowledge of video formatting though (which I'm too lazy to have).

I don't mind video quality, but some of the runs are really hard to look at compared to their console counterparts. I could see the reasoning, but i do think its a bit early, as dvd recorders are all still $100. maybe if they were $60 or so, that would be reasonable.

My main recording angst is that I live in the UK, and thus am confined to PAL.

Thus I cannae record in 60hz.

And we all know what happens when you play PAL SA2:B in 50hz dont we.

Heh. At least the original Sonics were playable in 50Hz. >_>

Screws up your timing, but I can live with that.

But slowed-down Sonic sucks so much. :(

As does any slowed-down game.
