<SkyL> t/r/s/b/s is basically what sadv2/3/rush do where adv3 doesnt have scores and rush has TA, so i'd say that's the way to go if the aim is to be [most] consistent with the rest of the site

Just to note for future games, if scalping becomes too easy, then it shouldn't be allowed. This is a threshold issue, not whether or not scalping is illegal or not.

I would say it's never actually easy and instead, usually, a giant pain in the ass wherever it has to be done, but at the same time it ends up separating competitors that have gone through the ritual of enduring doing the same thing for 8-9 minutes and hitting the goal within 5 seconds of time-over from those who haven't.

Furthermore, in the case of Hill Top-type levels, think about how most of the levels in genesis land are score attacked (ie get all the rings, combo some enemies, and finish) and then think about how Hill Top-type levels in genesis land are score attacked (ie 10 minutes minus fastest time worth of infinite combo points, get some rings (unless Sonic 2, then get all the rings for the all rings bonus), get OTHER combo points from other sources, finish before time-over) and you'll see the gigantic difference where time actually matters when you're doing Hill Top type levels compared to other levels and puts it more in the vein of levels that score attack by achieving the maximum time bonus in addition to getting a bunch of rings and comboing stuff. That's why I appreciate their unholy existence. They break up the monotony of having the same strategy for all levels in a particular game.

Alright, since you're so impressively vigilant, I'll tell you some history about the site and bannings that took place that shaped the system that I know about.

There's been very few people that have been unbanned, but there have been some. One was actually bertin, who ended up being a success story. From what I understand, the method in which he redeemed himself to this site was basically:

1. Competing at Cyberscore for a long time, proving his honesty in his hundreds of submissions
2. Working with Rolken (what the workings that happened there are unknown to me)
3. Being a pretty cool guy in the end, even in light of such annoyances to him such as the infamous BERTIN THE BEAR.

Then there was smizzla. Nobody really saw that one coming. It was a total shock to a lot of people to see one of the key proponents in the smizzla/DsS #1 sitewide rivalry banned, and in the end, it made Da1 such a menace to everything on the site. As for smizzla, I think how it ended up going is that he made an alternate account and submitted a bunch of fair statistics, was left alone for a bit even though everyone found out he was smizzla again, but eventually he found the pressure of being #1 again being too great to resist or something like that, and started going back to his old ways, or I think he might have voluntarily had himself banned that time because he didn't want to go that route again? So now what he does is just submit .giz files to the .giz topic, most of which would be records on the site, and that appears to be the balance he's achieved in order to be content with competition on this site. In retrospect though, his case might be one of the factors that prevents most people from every getting a second chance on this site nowadays. There were a couple other cases of people that came back to the site after being banned, but I don't think there's been any since around the time this happened.

So what does that mean for you? Basically, the real route to get back into competition on this site is to take your vigilance and really prove that you're consistently honest elsewhere. Not by just saying "im honest ok" every day or something like that. You need to perform the act, whether it be on Cyberscore or someplace else. That's the only way I've seen someone get unbanned here. Even beyond that, I would note that playing Sonic games is more worthwhile than the rest of whatever results in this thread. Simply enjoying the gameplay unfold is something that all the people that were unbanned have expressed one way or another. And not with words in a post, either.

By the way, the "The world's greatest dramatic ban off TSC" is sonicandamy. Hands down. Just read that dude's posts or comments on the site and you'll understand.

So, in short, I'm right?

And I find it very, very amusing and ironic that you're bringing those rules up and the fact that this thread caused them. It's not like you couldn't have possibly told all your friends that

Quote from: Quote from: HyperSonic7701 on July 25, 2010, 03:55:42 PM
I lied about those stats

which was the conclusion that was reached in the first place, and it would have saved a thread and an apparently eternal headache.  But instead here you are, probably the person that brought those dudes to the forum anyway to troll us, and you're flaunting around a set of rules to me saying that my comments are offensive to you, when your strategy to redeem yourself here is to be offensive to us? Is that your form of justice?

I think the only justice you deserve is to be forum banned.

Actually, the point I was making, which you apparently need spelled out for you, is that you're basically saying you don't have a reason to be here and haven't for the past year, therefore I can only assume that you're just here at this point to try to go "durrr look at me" and noob the place up some more. None of this "i'm clearing my name here!!!" stuff either. If you really cared that much, you'd realize that you're caring about it on a thread on the internet in which about 100 people in your lifetime will ever read, maybe more if people keep posting in it. Your "greater than thou" attitude in your posts aren't helping your case if you cared about posting stats again at all either. So why are you still here? After saying you're leaving a million times?

My only conclusion is that you pretty much are THAT lame. Just a different kind of THAT lame.

Your logic.

Quote
I am still here because I thought maybe I had a chance to get unbanned if I came clean. But I guess that didn't work.
Quote
I'm not banned off the forum yet, so that means I can still be here.

So basically your reason for being here is that you had a reason to be here that you don't have anymore, so now you're saying you have no reason to have no reason to be here?

Also considering your signature of "The world's greatest dramatic ban off TSC" and having been around long enough to know how utterly self-proclaimed of a statement that is, in addition to all the posts in this thread you made saying "I'm leaving in a few days, so you better give me a reason to stay," I'd be more inclined to say that you get the record for TSC's most groan-inducing, drawn-out ban. And by the way, the other part of your signature isn't suggestive of all the alternate accounts you'll make in the future at all. Just saying.

Competition Central / Re: The SSR Rating

If one of your aims for this project is to have your formula encourage people to submit statistics to all categories of a game, then your formula should probably account for that. However, once it does, it will probably start serving the same functionality as the sitewide rankings formula, and less the functionality of determining the value of a person's average statistic, which is what I meant when I asked why this would be better than just using the Sitewide Rankings to compete. The closer you make the formula's purpose to being a robust do-everything ultimate trick, the less exclusive the information is.

Fair enough Zeupar, but that still doesn't answer my first question of why this is better than just using the Sitewide Rankings to compete. When it comes to competitive value, I can see that this shows the the value of the statistics a given person has submitted, but the way this is working out, it factors in all of the things that would not be relevant to statistics in this case, and by that I mean Championships, Leaderships, and Percentage, and ends up forcing those things to become relevant when determining the... whatever SSR stands for. Can someone tell me what SSR stands for in this context? Is it Sitepoints/Stats Ratio?

As for the formula, I'm assuming you intended to substitute the formula on the sitewide FAQ? Besides my obvious criticism that your formula currently cares too much about our friendly neighborhood site mechanics and instead be straight-up dependent on the statistics themselves, it doesn't appear to be quite the same. The c variable is missing the 2x. And unless I'm reading it incorrectly, the n and s variables are essentially the same thing, so your formula should probably account for that.

I am left confused as to why we need an alternate version of the Sitewide Rankings and how the ranking divided by an arbitrary number constitutes a new and improved system...

I'm pretty much in line with Aitamen's response. It's silly to ban techniques that push clearly defined boundaries (the Time Over aspect of the old games) to the limit. It really doesn't matter how big the number gets as long as there's a limit imposed on the score. Even in LB, if you sit there for the 8 minutes of spindashing at the beginning, you're still not going to get an infinitely large score or get anywhere close to maximizing the score value.

i wake up this morning

i open my browser

i see this

what the hell is this

it doesn't even try to be innovative

it's just a picture of the specific sonic that has kidnapped good sonic games for the past 4 years and is all like HEYYYYY STAR WARS ON THE FIRST THREE GAMES!!! ISNT THAT A GREAT IDEA

no.

48
that too, to a lesser extent

i tend to ignore shade's existence nowadays anyway

and chip's for that matter

49
the fact that tikal is on that image absolutely terrifies me to the very core.

The way I see it, it's pretty blatant that this whole topic is just a cover-up for your opinion that SonicAD is pretty much the worst dude ever and that you hate this place now because he has former owner Rolken's cookie cutter. Seems like getting him/someone else to remove your statistics from the site is some sort of revenge or something stupid like that. If you're not mature enough to simply pick up, leave, and move on with your life as opposed to sitting in front of a computer and whining to people on the internet that "im still here and i don't want to be" and expecting us to solve that problem, then you probably shouldn't have been here in the first place.

I see no disclaimer on TSC that says once stats are submitted they are the property of TSC.

You are adorable. If you're going to act like this topic is your last stand and take this chance to be a massive dick to the admins, then you should just change all your times to 0:01 to be banned and have your stats erased.

Well, i lowered my ring status to how much i got throughout each level either on Gameplay Mode or most likely on Time Attack mode when i picked up just over 100 rings whilst trying to achieve the best time possible.

...So why did you lower your ring stats?

P.S. Just found out your stat says "645", one ring less than your actual stat. Fix that, you know you want to. You know you want the better stat anyway, cause it's all legit. :D

So NOW I could submit, because I got 646 rings...
Maybe I will make a video of this soon.

Videos always help. You are banned until you come up with video proof of at least one of your following records:

- 163 rings on Scrap Brain 3
- 54,000 points on Diamond Dust 1
- 57,800 points on Gene Gadget 1

If you want to make a video of you getting 646 rings on Mushroom Hill 2 as Knuckles following TSC's rules, that could help your case as well.

If you don't provide proof soon, we will suspend all your statistics and you will be banned permanently.
