News and Updates / Re: Possible Xmas Mini-Marathon?
« on: November 03, 2012, 03:49:10 am »
We need some suggestions for raffle prizes! I'll collect all the suggestions in this topic, and later I'll post a poll to determine the top 5-10 prizes to offer. (Note that I'm looking for physical prizes here, not stuff like points codes or Steam gifts.)

Here's some possible ideas:

Competition Central / Re: Reviving the idea of M&S charts
« on: October 21, 2012, 03:05:09 am »
Here's my charts for M&S'08.
  • 100m: MILLITIME (without minutes)
  • 400m: MILLITIME
  • 4x100m Relay: MILLITIME
  • 110m Hurdles: MILLITIME (without minutes)
  • 400m Hurdles: MILLITIME
  • Long Jump: MILLIMETERS
  • Triple Jump: MILLIMETERS
  • Hammer Throw: MILLIMETERS
  • Javelin Throw: MILLIMETERS
  • High Jump: CENTIMETERS
  • Pole Vault: CENTIMETERS
  • Trampoline: MILLISCORE
  • Vault: MILLISCORE
  • Skeet Shooting: SCORE, MILLITIME*
  • Single Sculls: MILLITIME
  • Archery: SCORE, MILLITIME*
  • 100m Freestyle: MILLITIME
  • 4x100m Freestyle: MILLITIME
  • Dream Race: MILLITIME (not saved!)
  • Dream Platform: SCORE (not saved!)
*Skeet Shooting and Archery record both score and time. I'm not sure if time really matters for these events.

Looks like I'll need to add another stat format for MILLITIME without minutes for two events...

Fencing and table tennis are not trackable, nor are their dream event counterparts.

Circuit Mode is completing multiple events as a given character, o there's nothing to track here. Similarly, Mission Mode is completing specific events with a specified goal, so there's nothing to track here, either.

Gallery Games: These either have a fixed upper bound, or are endless and pointless. Not tracking these.

Unlike most of the regular games, TOTAL charts don't make any sense for M&S, since different scores have different weights. For example, the two gymnastics events are scored from 0.000 to 10.000, while Dream Platform can go over 9,000.

It seems that your IP address is on the Spamhaus blacklist. It's a dynamic IP (AT&T wireless), so it's likely that someone who had your IP address previously was doing malicious stuff.

I added the IP range to the whitelist, so you should be able to submit stats now.

News and Updates / Re: Sonic Generations categories renamed
« on: September 08, 2012, 04:39:11 pm »
Fixed. The media table contains duplicate copies of game/category/etc ID, since it's possible to upload videos that represent a general strategy instead of just being for a specific level, so I had to update those entries manually.

What games are the Adventure Tour missions in? If they're DS-only, I wouldn't be able to say.

No, the clock is odd. That's all. It's not real hours
Okay, but it still has to be handled as hours within TSC, so it's still a bit annoying :(

Regarding mission modes, I don't think we'll be tracking them for M&S '08. They appear to simply be "complete event X as character Y" with some restrictions, and otherwise aren't really interesting.

20km Race Walk- 0:00:00:000 hours
Triathlon- 0:00:00:000 hours
Ugh, why did they have to throw in "hours"? I suppose these "events" are actually competed in while the system is in standby, sort of like Street Pass and whatnot.

Technically, they're the same as MILLITIME, but they need to use an h:mm format instead of just mm. I'm not sure if I need to add a completely new format for that (HMILLITIME?) or if I can just add a flag indicating "use hours/minutes instead of just minutes".

I will probably have initial charts for M&S'08 (Wii) put together this weekend, and since I'm creating the charts, this will be the first one set up on "The M&S Center".

News and Updates / Sonic Generations categories renamed
« on: August 27, 2012, 09:26:14 pm »
I finally got around to renaming the Sonic Generations categories.

"Uber Times" is now "Times". This is the category where you can use skills.

The previous "Times" is now "Time Attack". You cannot use skills in this category.

Competition Central / Reviving the idea of M&S charts
« on: August 27, 2012, 10:11:56 am »
A while back, I started to add the required stat types for the M&S games (centiscore, milliscore), but never got around to finishing it.

After playing M&S Winter Olympics in the TSC Marathon this year, I decided that it might be worthwhile to revisit this idea and add charts for everything. So, today I'm going to finish implementing the new stat types.

Which leads to another issue: Charts. What events should and shouldn't be tracked, and what stats do they use?

If anyone has ideas for charts for the three M&S games, post them here. (I don't have the (3)DS games, so someone else will have to manage those.)

The stat was removed last night.

For future reference, you can "remove" your own stat by redoing it and then submitting a new stat.

General Sonic / Re: Sonic 2 speed run:3h 50m
« on: November 16, 2011, 10:02:05 pm »
The current site records for total time in Sonic 2 is 12m30s as Sonic, and 13m14s as Knuckles. Note that total time doesn't necessarily correspond to a single run.

You can submit your statistics by clicking the "Submissions" button on the left. Make sure you read the Competition Rules first so you know what can and can't be submitted.

(Of note: In Sonic 2, you can submit Tails times as Sonic, but you can't submit Sonic/Tails times as Knuckles and vice-versa.)

Wikkity! / Re: Who uses emulators?!
« on: November 09, 2011, 09:48:29 pm »
OP is obnoxious and doesn't understand copyright law nor the archival clause.  Also, Emulator use doesn't directly constitute piracy, for example to use an Emulator to play a retail copy of SCD.
Not only this, but you know Virtual Console, XBLA/PSN re-releases, and all those Mega Drive collections? Those are all emulators.

The More You Know®

EDIT: Also, I should probably mention that I'm working on a Genesis emulator called Gens/GS II, which is a fork of Gens/Linux. :V

Information Kiosk / Re: The Sonic Heroes Charts Problem
« on: August 14, 2011, 10:54:36 pm »
It seems that there was a server problem while processing some stats, so the ranks were never calculated for those ranksnaps. Submitting a new stat in each class will fix the problem.

Charts that need new submissions:
- Sonic Heroes / Rings / Grand Metropolis (Sonic (Extra))
- Sonic Heroes / Times / Final Fortress (Rose)
- Sonic Heroes / Rings / Rail Canyon (Rose)

If at least one statistic is submitted for all three of these charts, then the ranks will be fixed.

Decisecond times should be working now. You'll have to resubmit any stats that were incorrectly submitted with 0 deciseconds.

Ugly Emotes are ugly.

Nother issue: After choosing a player matchup, and then clicking on a level from it, we are given an extra / in the link, and a 404 results.

Bah, the reason why I didn't see this when you Paraxade mentioned it before is because I was looking at the end of the URL. The extra slash was between 'rankings' and the game name. It's fixed now.

Also, if you have any suggestions for better emoticons, feel free to post them in another topic. These are the SMF 2.0 default emoticons. (I may switch to the Trillian emoticons if I can find a copy sometime.)

Yeah, I know about the div wrapping problems.

In other news, I fixed the scripts for the BBCode and Smiley buttons, so they now appear on the post reply/topic/etc pages. :)

Board Games / Announcing the reopening of Board Games!
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:01:23 am »
So it turns out that this forum was hidden from the Board Index since it wasn't in the boardlinks table. Since pretty much everyone has sitemasks turned on (it's the default), no one saw it... until now.

Hence, we're announcing the reopening of Board Games! Go fish or something.

(Thanks to Luxray [aka Cruizer] for notifying me about this board being hidden.)

so tell me (in words) witch is the best sonic game ever?
For me it's a three way tie between sonic colors, sonic and the black knight, and sonic the fighters.
I really can't decide wich sonic game is the best.

I added a hack to fix the extraneous boxes around <p> elements on Stardust themes. This also fixes alignment issues on both Stardust and Chaos Angel. (Notably, things that should be left-aligned are left-aligned instead of center-aligned, and the topic status icons legend now shows up correctly.)

Ban.

Also, I have been working on improving the SMF 2.0 CSS, and things are getting better. (The last improvement was fixing alignment issues on most themes.)

Hopefully it will. That way, we can figure out what's actually causing the error. :)

News and Updates / Re: Registration Problems
« on: January 02, 2011, 01:09:37 am »
Luxray: That might be caused by the background being set to black in the base CSS, and changed to the Chaos Angel color in the subskin CSS. I'll remove the black from the base CSS later and add CSS for the themes that do use black backgrounds.

In other news, I finally fixed the bug with errors not showing up properly. (It'd say "An error has occurred!", but wouldn't tell you what the error was.) Turns out I added a custom Errors.english.php to the TSC SMF theme, but didn't include the default Errors.english.php. (SMF won't include the default file if one's found in the custom theme.) I updated the custom Errors.english.php to require_once() the default Errors.english.php, and it all works now. :)
