Rules Revisions / Re: Unbanning Team Blast Glitch
« on: August 12, 2012, 11:31:19 am »
The big thing about Team Dark is that you could refill the Team Blast Gauge while the time is stopped, AND you could get quite a bit of distance before time starts back up. That's just too breaking, in my opinion. You should at least have some effort put into runs.

Most likely, yes, also considering level ups, invincibility, and destroying enemies. It'd take about 5 seconds or so to get a full Team Blast Gauge if I remember correctly. Add that with extra speed for flying as Cream and running as Big and Amy, yeah, it'd be faster, most likely

I'd be more for keeping it away from Team Rose and Dark, for sure, but I still disagree with allowing it in TA charts at all.
If I were to settle with anything, leave it out of Bosses in general, and everything else for Dark and Rose(including Extras). For Sonic's Extra, I'd also be iffy on it, but it would be very useful at times, but it isn't necessarily too game breaking. I really don't know what else to cover, other than keep it out of Bosses.

Oh, hello there ma'am! Welcome to TSC! Hope you enjoy the competition, forums, IRC(of which I am not a part of), and all that other stuff! Also, be sure to ask around if you don't know about certain glitches or routes. We're a friendly bunch, so most of us are happy to help :)

I would say that it kind of defeats the purpose of running through the level and needing level ups in order to clear certain enemies, plus Team Rose being able to level up and get Speed shoes AND invincibility throughout most of the levels. It's obvious why Team Dark's levels would be stupid and effortless to run in levels. Then there's Robot Storm and Robot Carnival, and most of the other bosses just being destroyed too easily for my tastes.
Although these are just opinions, considering the use of the Team Blast glitch being too versatile, I'd hardly agree to allowing it. Sure, there are other games with tricks that are versatile, but this one tips the scale a bit too much, I believe. I say it should stay as it is

Also, DsS, I know you only wanted this because you know you'll win. Heheheheh. I saw your record for Metal City Mission 1. Lol, obviously I'm only messing, but still, you'll probably be first XD

Actually, I kinda like this idea. It adds a bit more variety to it, but what exactly will be ranked? Just time? Or amount of junk collected?

Competition Central / Re: The Co-op Center...?
« on: May 30, 2012, 03:21:05 pm »
I don't see why anyone would be harshly against it, since it's not a bad idea. I don't really see why anyone would be for it, either(it's completely opinionated, though I'm for it, just because I can XD)

Competition Central / Re: The Co-op Center...?
« on: May 29, 2012, 06:48:58 pm »
Meh, I'd say that implementing S4E2 Co-op should be a whole new game entirely, allowing two people to gain Site points for the normal part of the site. This would require a small edit in the rules(saying S4E2 Co-op is the ONLY place where Co-op is allowed). ...BUT this should only be if this gets completely shot down and you still want to implement Co-op. The only thing being that you'd have to find out how people can submit stats together. Maybe if you make the stat pend until the person you did it with gets online.... DAMN that sounds complicated >_<

Competition Central / Re: The Co-op Center...?
« on: May 29, 2012, 03:44:40 pm »
Hm... Why not just create a seperate game for S4E2 Co-op(considering it has online Co-op[unless I'm misinformed and it isn't online], placing an exception in the rule). Not that I'm against you guys creating a whole other sub-division of TSC, I'm just curious as to how THAT would work out and such.
Also, I'm curious about what's bad about proposing this, and why Co-op Center would be better suited. Anyone want to gove me a pros/cons list?

Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic CD RA Rules Change
« on: May 27, 2012, 01:07:51 pm »
I just only disagree. I like the idea, but I don't. I think it should only be for RA, but there's nothing really against doing it for all charts. It's totally opinionated at this point, since there's no downside, and there really isn't an upside either

78
Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic CD RA Rules Change
« on: May 27, 2012, 10:02:45 am »
Actually, I don't know if TA or SA should also be put into different Time Zones, or at least as of yet. I think they shouls stay the way they are, but bertin and RPG have the right idea, essentially, and I think people will like that

79
Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic CD RA Rules Change
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:30:25 pm »
Daniel, it'd be more useful to add charts for Past, present, and future of each level for RA so that way you don't have to deal with level select, console players won't complain about emu players using save states before the RA runs, etc. It'd be the best possible outcome, in my opinion. We get the rule changed, AND no one will complain.

80
Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic CD RA Rules Change
« on: May 21, 2012, 03:28:19 pm »
I agree with RPG. That way, we can compromise the rule so that everyone is perfectly fine. I'm not sure if it's work for TA, but definitely RA(I'm slightly unclear on it, obviously due to laziness and unfamiliarity about the game itself). I DEMAND A RE-POLLING! DX< Lol

Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic CD RA Rules Change

And yeah, there are emu advantages all over the place, we've never seen that as reason to disallow things before.  And yes, save-stating before a run is legal, just not *during* a run.  If I had to trigger various glitches or obtain shields in S3&K before each run... *shudder*
[/quote]

I was more saying that it's an argument as to why people would prefer it not become a rule, because of being incredibly tedious. Of course doing that in other runs would be fine, but this one is a little too long for console users, ya know? That means that some may complain or use it as an argument. Like I said, since it's not as easily backed as other arguments, I'm neutral. I moreso just wanna point out that some people may have this argument.

* Gamesharks, similar cheat devices, "turbo" or "autofire" features of controllers, and ROM save states must not be used, nor any functions on the emulator, such as slowing down the speed of the game.

Yeah, I know that, but wouldn't some people use it to start at the end of Act I, just before the sign post? Hm... I never knew that even that was violating the rules. I'll take note of that

Quote
Well, in both versions of Sonic CD, there is a way to access level select, which allows you to start any act in any time zone, which eliminates that problem (although this is far easier to access in CD 11 than CD 93 :P). Basically, RAing Sonic CD would begin with you choosing a favorable time zone to start in from level select, and warping as needed.

Naturally, I suspect you aren't very familiar with the game, so I can see why you said what you said.

Yes, you are correct that I am not familiar with the game, but I know about the accessibility of the level select. Though, from what I've been told by someone who is familiar with the game that time travelling from the level select screen sends you back to the title screen. Not sure about anything at this point, though...

Okay, I'm definitely neutral in consideration for this rule. There is a slight problem, though. This will give emu players a giant advantage, since they can use save states. Console players(Sega CD and SGC) would have a hell of a difficult time with this because they'd have to start Act I and play through it EVERY time in order to start Act II in a different time. That is a major downside, in my opinion, seeing as I am a console player myself. However, the point of RA is entirely about getting as many rings as you can without getting rings twice(happens in SADX with the bells), so whatever happens to this rule is for the best, and I won't choose sides.

Yeah man, what Parax/Umbreon said XD Also, remember that 90% of the people are average Sonic gamers like you(in more games than one), so competition shouldn't be bothersome. Who knows, maybe you'll be the next Champion someday. It's happened before.
Anyways, man, enjoy the stay, enjoy the competition, and, best of all, enjoy yourself :D
