Wikkity! / Cybrax's obligatory birthday topic
« on: November 15, 2004, 07:02:34 am »
There was a topic on June 29, and another on October 24.  Now it's user #3's turn.

35,064 hours until you can celebrate with a beer bash (assuming you like following the law).  And whatever cake you have, post a picture so you can enter it in the contest.

I'll be averting disaster, making sure no one gets killed.  Though I might be done with such work a year or two early.

What about you?

Yesterday they wiped the user database, so you'll have to go recreate your account, then make a topic giving them a reason to validate you.

so go and stuff.

General Sonic / A record that will hold for a REALLY long time.
« on: October 31, 2004, 01:12:48 am »
I just played a basic run through Emerald Hill 1.

Clock Start Time - 1:59:49 AM, 2004/10/31
Flagpost Crossed - 1:00:14 AM, 2004/10/31

The run itself wasn't very good, but based on the official timing mechanism that monitored the game, it says I just completed Emerald Hill 1 with a new record of -3575 seconds, for a whopping 3595-second improvement off the existing record.

Let's see how long that record will hold.

UPDATE: As of the fifth Northern Hemisphere iteration of this challenge (2008/11/02), SonicAD and SpinDashMaster currently hold the record with -3578.

Gaming and Grazing / If you play Magic, you'd like this.
« on: October 03, 2004, 02:56:21 am »
http://gccg.sourceforge.net

It's a free online simulator that works a lot like the official Magic Online except for a few things:
-it's free to install
-you can use cards older than Invasion
-you can buy those older cards at the prices they were sold in-print for (think $8 for Beta starters)
-it's free to collect cards; you only use play money
-even though you get to buy and collect cards, you're allowed to use cards you don't own in your deck (they just get counted as proxies)
-the game knows some things about the cards, such as what's a land and what's an instant (so that when you play cards it knows where they go), but unlike MODO, not everything you do is automatic (so you have to do things like attacks/blocks/targets manually, but this is something Apprentice/MWS users are already used to having to do)
-you get money just for playing each game, even if you lose (of course the winner does get 4 times as much as the loser, but it adds up)
-oh yeah, it's totally free and will never cost you any money

Basically get it if you have any interest in playing M:TG, because it pwns you and it certainly pwns the other online mechanisms.

I did write a detailed manual on getting started to the game, but I don't feel like typing it all out again, so clicky

Leave your comments here; my GCCG username is "mr_pwnage" if you ever spot me online there.

Until next time, may you drive the price of Lotus Petal up 5400% in two minutes.  Just like I did.

Leaderboard Disputes / Hurra's S1 Final Zone
« on: September 26, 2004, 03:47:36 pm »
It's a claim of 0:57, in a level where 1:13 is most certainly maximized.

That entry will most likely be deleted within 24 hours, but I'll give everyone a chance to speak their mind first.  If Hurra sees this topic and finds an error (like maybe it was 1:57), that would help the correction process.

Gaming and Grazing / StepMania files
« on: September 25, 2004, 11:27:28 pm »
I just made a preliminary simfile for Stardust Speedway Bad Future; grab it here.  Works with DWI or SM.

Current steps are L4/S7/H9.  I designed them to be completable on a pad, and can handle most of it myself.  The tricky part is the DXY!-style steps found from 27 to 39 seconds; this part is supposed to require some tricky movement to navigate the jumps but is this really necessary for the song, or would more "natural" step patterns work better?

If anyone has plans to add Light or Standard steps to this, or parts of the song where the steps should be changed, reveal them here. [EDIT] - not necessary any longer

And therein lies the purpose of this topic.  If anyone else has plans to create SM or DWI files, talk about them here.

It appears that the guest count has been hovering above 30 for at least 90 minutes now, and has been as high as 55 (plus 7 members for 62 total).

Anyone know where these users are coming from?

And is there any chance these guests might topple the old record of 123 users online, set under equally mysterious circumstances?

Competition Central / Finally!
« on: June 12, 2004, 05:41:33 pm »
So I finally got a TV tuner, and after getting everything set up I decided to put up the long-saved SA2 videos.

Here's what I've decided to put up so far:

Mission Street 4 (counts as 1) 2:09.44
Eternal Engine 1 2:39.42
Meteor Herd 5 (non-DD) 0:41.22
Dry Lagoon 5 0:28.84
Sand Ocean 3 0:43.42
Mad Space 2 0:14.80

Leave your comments about them here.

Competition Central / Your next mission
« on: May 03, 2004, 02:38:27 pm »
...is to help generate "video compilations" for the original four games.

Before proceeding any further, take a look at Quake Done Quick; that's the closest thing I know of to a precedent for what this is supposed to be.  They take the best single-level completions they can find, and string them together into a video that represents a full game completion.

The obvious difference is that instead of doing it with Quake games, we'll do it for Sonic 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles.  Using the currently available video database as a foundation, we'll finish it off with videos of all the remaining levels.  One each level, and possibly for each character (I'll get to specs in a while).  For the most part, keep your runs in conformance with the rules.

S1 - Not much to consider here.  All runs work the same way.

S2 - Definitely want a Sonic run.  If you find a stage that can be improved somehow by having 2P with Tails, try it out and it might be admitted into the run.  I'm not convinced a Knuckles run is necessary unless enough levels show major improvements to be available (Chemical Plant 2 does, but if most of the game is just Sonic's routes done with the hindrance of a lower jump, people aren't going to want to see it as a video).

S3&K: Lots of stuff up in the air.  Do we want videos of each game separately...or the whole 12-14 levels in one?  Or both choices (which would entail playing some levels twice)?  If a S&K alone video is made, how do we go about handling Doomsday (since in a full run, you wouldn't have the luxury of starting from a game file with all emeralds since that game played alone has no save feature)?  If there's a S3&K combined run, a video string each for Sonic and for Knuckles is a given...but is Tails necessary?  Apart from levels like Sky Sanctuary, most of Tails' routes are the same as Sonic's, except that there's no opportunity to pull off the "fun with shields" that you see in videos like Carnival Night (both), Lava Reef 2, and Death Egg 1...isn't it the crazy maneuvers in these levels that would draw people to the videos in the first place?  For those Tails-advantaged levels, can the same thing be done by using a Sonic+Tails combo?

Also, take a look at what's currently available...which of it is good enough for these runs, and which needs to be re-recorded and improved first?  Make your suggestions on this or the above matters.  Also, if you get a level complete with enough quality that you think it's worthy of a video segment (assuming you have it recorded in the first place--if you don't have screen-recording software, get one), alert us of its presence!  This can't go anywhere if not for players actually trying to be the fastest!

This is the first big chance to bring net-wide recognition to the site...let's get all this put together!

General Sonic / Consider the following.
« on: April 30, 2004, 03:55:26 pm »
Nothing against scores; those will definitely be staying.

But do we really need to track ring counts?  So many of these are easily maxed, and even a bad quality run can tie one of these just as long as they don't get hit without shield at all.

Therefore, I find that these records aren't accurate measures of anything.

It's even worse in Adventure 1 and Advances, which have Random Ring Boxes--meaning that even identical runs will turn out differently, and Adventure 2, while not as bad, has system-related differences in ring count on virtually EVERY level, which not only means that you go through an incredibly safe, 12-minute-long path just to stand a chance (without even incentive to do it in 8), but that chance is taken away by owning the wrong system (I'd estimate each one is thrown out of contention on about 30%-40% of the levels).

Furthermore, it's easy to overlook the rules in this division, and find something that yields 999 rings...only to find that it's banned, making for lots of maintenance deleting random violatory submissions.

What do all of you say about it?

Wikkity! / got 1000 blank white cards?
« on: April 21, 2004, 02:54:45 pm »
http://www.geocities.com/nconner23/bwcards.html

Post JPEG images of cards (attach file), and we'll play in this topic!  Just take turns playing one card at a time, and point out whenever you play them on someone.  It's pretty tough to stick to a turn-based system, but the basic rule is no posting multiple cards in a row.

If you don't post a card file in your message, you can just talk about the game.

Also RULE #0: If no other rule prohibits it, it's allowed.
RULE #1: These rules can be amended at any time.
RULE #2: A card has an effect only if it's posted in this topic.
RULE #3: "Players" refers to the list of users that have one or more cards currently posted in this topic.
RULE #4: Whenever there's a judgment call, I will resolve the situation.

General Sonic / so...WHAT was the best fangame ever?
« on: March 22, 2004, 01:52:46 pm »
http://www.srb2.org

I stumbled into this game a couple days ago, and as soon as I started playing, I thought three things:

1) "How did I get such a good game for free?"
2) "I wonder if I can get 19 seconds on the first level..."
3) "How did I get such a good game for free WITHOUT BREAKING THE LAW?"

It's a fully functioning 3D game, with a game engine that you might recognize from Doom.  Some of the more useful features:
-A package including 25 levels (only 9 actually come as installed; you need one of the Addons to get the rest). Each of the act 3s is a boss fight like from Sonic 3D Blast (i.e. the boss is the entire level; you don't have to go through anything to get there), and most of those bosees are the same machine with the same attacks, but the different surroundings provide interesting twists on the battle each time. All in all, even those default levels are a great set to have.
-3 distinct characters.  Unlike in other games where there are multiple characters as nothing more than skins of each other, in this game Tails actually flies, Knuckles glides and climbs, and they function exactly like you'd expect them to.  Furthermore, each one has its own set of values for things like Speed, Acceleration, and Jump Height.
New Special Stages.  You're in a 3D all-range world of mountains, valleys, and ledges, and the object is to hunt down the specified number of rings in the given time (usually 100-200 seconds).  Resembles the Advance 2 specials more than anything, but much easier both to access and to beat.  For one, there's no crazy robot following you.
-Hidden stuff!  In addition to the standard rings and 1-ups hidden behind secret, narrow, and just plain hard-to-get-to areas, each level has 3 hidden emblems (1 each for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to find).  Supposedly you get a bonus for finding them all--I won't tell (as a matter of fact, I don't know what happens yet, so meh.)
-Four separate difficulty levels.  At harder difficulties, you start with fewer lives/continues, see more enemies, and sometimes objects like springs are taken away.  But hey, this game was developed from Doom...isn't this a fairly obvious feature?

And the biggies:

-Custom characters.  There's a tool out there which will allow you to design your own character, give it an appearance from each angle and at different parts of the animation, and a rating in each of the aforementioned stat categories...and then you can have that character to play in the game!  After that's done, you can develop extra tricks for that character (e.g. one of the addons doesn't create a new character, but it provides Sonic with a functional light-dash and homing attack.  I would recommend this addon to everyone except for the fact that it messes with the camera angle as a side-effect, you you won't always know what you're doing.)
-Custom levels.  After you've done enough with the basic 25 stages, or if you want something to test your new character, you can make your own level to romp in!  Granted, this is tedious, but even if you don't have an image of the perfect level in mind, some other players of the game do.  That's why you can download a bunch of levels from the Addons section, and there's something for everyone (as a matter of fact, one of those extra levels exhibits the game's ability to create levels that act like Knuckles' stages from Sonic Adventure!)  You can decorate your stage however you wish and even throw in fancy stuff like Low Gravity (for example, an arena in space)  Between the work of everyone, the game is as expansive as people can keep stretching it.
-And the greatest one of all: ONLINE MULTIPLAYER MODE.  Games like Quake and Halo have had direct realtime competition available for a long time, and now it's finally the Sonic fans' turn to do the same thing without switching loyalties.  In fact, this feature gives the site its first chance to do online game tournaments, and if a bunch of site members take up the game regularly then we could become a defining force on the growing multiplayer scene.  Games can span 2, 6, up to 32 players at once!  Here's the online modes:
Co-Op: All players play together to try and complete the level.  Perhaps useful if you're trying to get through Super Hard.
Deathmatch: Just like any basic shooter, except with the Sonic mechanics thrown in.  The difference is that instead of using guns with bullets, your rings ARE the bullets.  So now in addition to serving as your means of survival against attack, rings are also your only way to attack at all.  Some powerups provide you with additional shooting features, like rapid-fire or exploding rings.  Just hit the opponents with the most rings to win!
Capture the Flag: The team-oriented variation of the basic deathmatch that everyone loves.  The flag scores 20 times as many points as a standard hit, so much of the game will be fought by rivals each carrying the opponent's flag.
Tag: It uses the features of a deathmatch, but obviously the emphasis is on not being "IT".  So don't be "IT".  And remember, you can either collide with a player or hit them with a ring in order to transfer a tag.
Chaos: Many players, all of whom are opponents, but you can't throw rings here (and therefore can't destroy each other).  What you CAN destroy is the neverending supply of enemies that reappear all over the field.  Not only destroy the most enemies, but also make sure you get big chains of them (by lining up multiples in a single jump or spindash).  Of course the enemies can also get you, and with each death you also lose half your points.
Race: The original Sonic multiplayer, now in 3D!  Go through the standard levels, trying to outdo your opponent in each of five categories: this five happen to be the very same parameters from S2 multiplayer mode.  Alternatively, you can select a Time-Only mode in which the other four objectives don't count.

Anyway, everyone here should get SRB2.  If there's anything you'd expect in an online game, this one has it, or else it shouldn't be too hard to create for yourself.  You can discuss the game by joining #srb2 (it's on the same IRC server as TSC Chat), or arrange online games at #srb2fun and #srb2netgame.  I leave you with this:

Wikkity! / Rate That AIM Log
« on: March 14, 2004, 09:11:59 pm »
Here's the background: Someone on Sega's official message boards claims to know every glitch in the Adventure games, I test him by asking if he knows how to complete Cannon's Core m2 in 5 seconds.  18 minutes later...
Quote
Shh.. I do I found it out right away :)

So I test him, and ask for an explanation of how it's done.  After a while longer, I hunt him down on AIM to settle the score.  He spends the next 100 minutes making an ass out of himself, and now it's your turn to decide how much of an ass he makes himself into.

SadisticMystic1 (6:56:56 PM): So you really have the
solution to Cannon's Core 2 0:05, do you?
GHZteam (6:59:50 PM): yeah
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:00 PM): Name it.
GHZteam (7:00:05 PM): are you from the SEGA boards?
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:07 PM): yes
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:17 PM): not primarily
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:22 PM): but I am registered there
GHZteam (7:00:26 PM): alright let me think for a minute
GHZteam (7:00:26 PM): ok
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:34 PM): There's no thinking
involved.
SadisticMystic1 (7:00:46 PM): It's not a procedure you
can simply think up.
GHZteam (7:00:50 PM): yeah there is, I haven't played in a
while :-)
SadisticMystic1 (7:01:47 PM): Also...what's your time in
mission 1 of that level?
GHZteam (7:02:07 PM): It doesn't keep track so I don't
know
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:12 PM): Yes, it does.
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:18 PM): Under Cannon's Core
GHZteam (7:02:22 PM): in SA2?
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:23 PM): you see a "Best Time"
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:24 PM): yes
GHZteam (7:02:34 PM): o Hi NEVER KNEW THAT
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:38 PM): WTF?
GHZteam (7:02:40 PM): I never knnew that
GHZteam (7:02:42 PM): lol
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:44 PM): you claim 5 seconds on
mission 2
SadisticMystic1 (7:02:54 PM): but DON'T EXPECT THE
DAMN GAME TO TRACK YOUR TIMES?
GHZteam (7:03:19 PM): Hey, I saw it on the net, I wanted
to try it..
SadisticMystic1 (7:03:40 PM): I know there's a
walkthrough for mission 1 on the net
SadisticMystic1 (7:03:43 PM): because I wrote it
SadisticMystic1 (7:03:55 PM): but that tells you nothing
about how to make it work in mission 2.
GHZteam (7:04:27 PM): Yeah A wlkthrough, but theres a
cheat for time on mission 2.. you just can't get an A
becasure you can't get enough rings
SadisticMystic1 (7:04:37 PM): sure you can
SadisticMystic1 (7:04:58 PM): there are 424 rings on the
level
SadisticMystic1 (7:05:05 PM): even though it only says
there are 418
GHZteam (7:05:10 PM): Ok can you explain to me what
Cannon CXore looks like? I have to in my mind right
now
SadisticMystic1 (7:05:24 PM): Tails plays a section with
42 rings
SadisticMystic1 (7:05:34 PM): then Eggman gets a turn
SadisticMystic1 (7:05:40 PM): the 100th ring is found
there
GHZteam (7:05:42 PM): Oh yeah that one!!!
SadisticMystic1 (7:05:51 PM): then Rouge, Knuckles, and
Sonic get stages
GHZteam (7:06:37 PM): ok ok .. you start off with tails,
you can't get a better time with that.... You need to use
Sonic and use the Light Shoes and Zoom through the
room at the right time
SadisticMystic1 (7:06:46 PM): WTF
SadisticMystic1 (7:07:12 PM): in order to to play as
Sonic, you must play through all four other characters
GHZteam (7:07:21 PM): I know..
SadisticMystic1 (7:07:34 PM): and my best time for
getting through to the end of Knuckles' section is 1:40
GHZteam (7:07:38 PM): Don't get the rings with them, just
go through the level
SadisticMystic1 (7:07:48 PM): okay, you've still used up
1:40
SadisticMystic1 (7:07:51 PM): you need 0:05
SadisticMystic1 (7:08:03 PM): 1:40 was without regard
for any rings
GHZteam (7:08:11 PM): when your st Sonic and Shadow,
that's your time to get rings, just zoom through with the
light shoes
SadisticMystic1 (7:08:22 PM): SHADOW DOESN'T PLAY
CANNON'S CORE!!!!!
SadisticMystic1 (7:08:33 PM): There is no place to "zoom
through" with Light Shoes
GHZteam (7:08:40 PM): On Sonic there is..
SadisticMystic1 (7:09:02 PM): there's a pit at the start
SadisticMystic1 (7:09:12 PM): then a 2x4 array of rings
SadisticMystic1 (7:09:16 PM): another 2x4
SadisticMystic1 (7:09:28 PM): 4 leading to a tunnel
SadisticMystic1 (7:09:51 PM): and then 6 sets of 12 on
the Kool-Aid slide
SadisticMystic1 (7:10:09 PM): none of those are
described by "Light-Dashing to zoom through a room"
SadisticMystic1 (7:10:19 PM): Learn the level before
making up things like 0:05.
GHZteam (7:10:27 PM): .... I did it somehow.. on accident
with the light shoes I swear!
SadisticMystic1 (7:10:31 PM): no
GHZteam (7:10:37 PM): What?
GHZteam (7:10:42 PM): you don't belive me?
SadisticMystic1 (7:10:53 PM): You cannot complete Tails,
Eggman, Rouge, and Knuckles all within 5 seconds
SadisticMystic1 (7:11:02 PM): and still have time to
finish with Sonic
GHZteam (7:11:15 PM): ..... yes you can.. I did it..
SadisticMystic1 (7:11:19 PM): no
GHZteam (7:11:25 PM): WTF?
GHZteam (7:11:37 PM): ok then..
SadisticMystic1 (7:13:10 PM): If you did, then do you
have any approximations for your intermediate times
SadisticMystic1 (7:13:18 PM): when you finished with
each character?
GHZteam (7:13:43 PM): Tails and eggman take up the
most time..
SadisticMystic1 (7:14:01 PM): you have given yourself 5
seconds to complete those stages
GHZteam (7:14:29 PM): I don't know what I did.. it was a
year ago, I just Promise I did so..
GHZteam (7:14:35 PM): I swear
SadisticMystic1 (7:14:36 PM): get out your game
SadisticMystic1 (7:14:43 PM): and read off your times
for missions 1 and 2
GHZteam (7:14:53 PM): right now!?
SadisticMystic1 (7:14:55 PM): yes
GHZteam (7:15:07 PM): ... I'm a bit busy..
SadisticMystic1 (7:15:26 PM): If you're spurting out
obvious fake times without the details
SadisticMystic1 (7:15:34 PM): and trying to talk it over
like this
SadisticMystic1 (7:15:38 PM): then obviously you aren't.
GHZteam (7:16:10 PM): If you don't belive me that's fine
with me.. but I told you already I promise I got the time
in 5 seconds.. I was the only one that did...
SadisticMystic1 (7:16:21 PM): I have 5 seconds
SadisticMystic1 (7:16:24 PM): so you're not.
GHZteam (7:16:29 PM): Ok...
SadisticMystic1 (7:16:34 PM): And it takes a lot longer
than 5 seconds to get that time.
SadisticMystic1 (7:16:45 PM): It is not something that
you can stumble into.
GHZteam (7:17:05 PM): Well that happend for me, must
have been a glitch or somthing but I got it..
SadisticMystic1 (7:17:10 PM): You might be able to get a
freak completion at around 1:00
GHZteam (7:17:25 PM): ?? that's a bad time
SadisticMystic1 (7:17:28 PM): but anything 26 or better
REQUIRES that you do something very deliberate
SadisticMystic1 (7:17:39 PM): and know why you're
doing it
SadisticMystic1 (7:17:51 PM): Do you have your m1 and
m2 times yet?
GHZteam (7:17:57 PM): It was an accident..
SadisticMystic1 (7:18:02 PM): No, it wasn't.
GHZteam (7:18:10 PM): yes it was!
SadisticMystic1 (7:18:16 PM): The only way it MIGHT be
an accident
SadisticMystic1 (7:18:23 PM): is if your time was exactly
0:08.25
SadisticMystic1 (7:18:28 PM): but that's clearly not the
case.
GHZteam (7:18:49 PM): what does that time do?
SadisticMystic1 (7:19:00 PM): That time is the result of a
trick.
SadisticMystic1 (7:19:19 PM): And it MIGHT be possible
to stumble into that trick on accident
GHZteam (7:19:19 PM): ....... That wasn't what happend
for me...
GHZteam (7:19:28 PM): I didn't do that
SadisticMystic1 (7:19:40 PM): but unless you play
competitively for time, you wouldn't accidentally perform it.
SadisticMystic1 (7:19:52 PM): Do you even know what
the 8.25 trick is?
GHZteam (7:19:59 PM): now I do..
SadisticMystic1 (7:20:47 PM): Can I get a reading on
what the two digits after the decimal in 0:05.xx are?
GHZteam (7:20:56 PM): I've beat this game a million
times.. I know every secret of it, I just happend to find a
glitch and got 5 seconds
GHZteam (7:20:59 PM): huh?

SadisticMystic1 (7:21:08 PM): No, you didn't.
GHZteam (7:21:19 PM): why are you arguing with me?
SadisticMystic1 (7:21:22 PM): For one, it's THREE
glitches, not one
GHZteam (7:21:43 PM): Ok, I call it 1, one glitch made
more..
SadisticMystic1 (7:21:50 PM): and all of them are
deliberate
GHZteam (7:22:00 PM): ......
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:13 PM): If you actually knew how
to get 0:05, you'd see that there's no way you can
combine them
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:15 PM): and call them 1
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:33 PM): You still haven't answered
what your m1 time was.
GHZteam (7:22:34 PM): One Glitch, made this happen
GHZteam (7:22:42 PM): I don't know what it is!!
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:46 PM): it takes 2 to make it
happen
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:51 PM): and a third to get 0:05
SadisticMystic1 (7:22:58 PM): instead of something
worse like 0:51
GHZteam (7:23:03 PM): In my case it was one..
SadisticMystic1 (7:23:07 PM): No, it wasn't.
GHZteam (7:23:15 PM): YES IT WAS!
SadisticMystic1 (7:23:24 PM): You really think you have
all the glitches down?
GHZteam (7:24:08 PM): No.. but I sure do know what a
glitch is.. I find glitches in every game I played.. if you
said there was a game with out a glitch, and proove you
wrong and find one...
SadisticMystic1 (7:24:15 PM): Quiz: Which system
(Dreamcast or GameCube) can complete Eternal Engine
mission 1 faster, and why?
GHZteam (7:24:36 PM): I don't know ... Dreamcast?
SadisticMystic1 (7:24:40 PM): Why?
GHZteam (7:25:10 PM): I don't know... I only own it for
GC
SadisticMystic1 (7:25:39 PM): Then I guess you'll never
get the chance to beat 3:00 there.
GHZteam (7:25:49 PM): Probly not....
GHZteam (7:26:14 PM): ok.. so?
GHZteam (7:26:29 PM): Its just a stupied time anyways..
SadisticMystic1 (7:26:40 PM): http://soniccenter.org
SadisticMystic1 (7:26:44 PM): Far from "stupid times"
GHZteam (7:27:12 PM): Yeah so?
SadisticMystic1 (7:27:31 PM): Several of those timed
require well-honed knowledge of "glitches"
GHZteam (7:28:17 PM): This doesn't proove anything.. for
all I know these people are lieing..
SadisticMystic1 (7:28:50 PM): At least they show enough
knowledge of the levels that they could get those times.
SadisticMystic1 (7:29:04 PM): You have made absolutely
no mention of how 0:05 is achieved.
GHZteam (7:29:31 PM): I don't remember... If your going
to keep arguing with me about this.. then I don't really
care..
SadisticMystic1 (7:29:38 PM): Then you lose.
GHZteam (7:29:46 PM): Ok.. If you say so...
SadisticMystic1 (7:29:55 PM): All you have to do is turn
on your GC and tell me the Cannon's Core times.
GHZteam (7:30:16 PM): ... I would if my Memory card
was here.. but I can't..
SadisticMystic1 (7:30:31 PM): First you were busy
SadisticMystic1 (7:30:36 PM): now no memcard
SadisticMystic1 (7:30:38 PM): Which is it?
GHZteam (7:30:40 PM): I am freaking busy!
GHZteam (7:30:50 PM): And my Memory card is not here
SadisticMystic1 (7:30:57 PM): Why didn't you notice that
before?
SadisticMystic1 (7:31:02 PM): when you were first
asked?
GHZteam (7:31:09 PM): notice what?>

SadisticMystic1 (7:31:18 PM): the lack of a memcard
GHZteam (7:31:34 PM): I did notice and I didn't care...
SadisticMystic1 (7:32:07 PM): And how do you know you
have 5 seconds if you can't look it up on the memory
card?
GHZteam (7:32:29 PM): Did it take you that long to come
up with that?
GHZteam (7:32:40 PM): I remember having 5 seconds
SadisticMystic1 (7:32:47 PM): That was #3 in line of
arguments
SadisticMystic1 (7:32:56 PM): Do you remember the
digits after 5?
GHZteam (7:33:17 PM): not really.. it wasn't exactly 5
seconds i'm sure..
SadisticMystic1 (7:33:31 PM): Only remembering 3 of the
5 digits...
SadisticMystic1 (7:33:33 PM): ?
GHZteam (7:34:04 PM): just 5 somthing that's all I know..
My bros where right there..
GHZteam (7:34:09 PM): watching me..
SadisticMystic1 (7:34:24 PM): Ask them if they remember
anything, then.
SadisticMystic1 (7:34:29 PM): Obviously something
happened
GHZteam (7:34:44 PM): Obviously somthing did happen
and I don't remember..
SadisticMystic1 (7:34:47 PM): and if you could get 0:05,
you'd definitely want to know how to replicate it
GHZteam (7:35:04 PM): Not really.. I really don't care
about time...
GHZteam (7:35:14 PM): its not a big deal to me anyways..
SadisticMystic1 (7:35:20 PM): Then you wouldn't have
taken the steps necessary to get a 5.
GHZteam (7:35:31 PM): It was a glitch..
SadisticMystic1 (7:35:40 PM): yes
GHZteam (7:35:44 PM): I didn't take any time trying to do
that
SadisticMystic1 (7:35:48 PM): but it's not a one-part
glitch
SadisticMystic1 (7:35:55 PM): and it takes a lot longer
than 5 seconds to do
GHZteam (7:35:56 PM): it just happend.. and I remember
seeing it
SadisticMystic1 (7:36:11 PM): Then you didn't.
GHZteam (7:36:21 PM): I didn't see it?

SadisticMystic1 (7:36:25 PM): Correct.
GHZteam (7:36:33 PM): What? why did you say that?
SadisticMystic1 (7:36:52 PM): Because no one gets 5
without knowing exactly how to do so.
GHZteam (7:37:03 PM): That doesn't make sense..
SadisticMystic1 (7:37:21 PM): You have to go
COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR WAY to get the steps of the
glitch correct.
GHZteam (7:37:25 PM): So your asking me what the glitch
did to make me win?
SadisticMystic1 (7:37:28 PM): yes
GHZteam (7:38:18 PM): ok.. well Nothing happend new..
.I palyed through it like normal.. Didn't take much time,
but then when I looked at the clock 4 seconds passed
by.
SadisticMystic1 (7:38:26 PM): wrong
GHZteam (7:38:35 PM): WRONG ?!!?!
SadisticMystic1 (7:38:37 PM): correct
SadisticMystic1 (7:38:55 PM): There's no way to get to
the end of Tails' section alone in 4 seconds
GHZteam (7:39:01 PM): ...... ok you know what? your
really bothering me right now..
SadisticMystic1 (7:39:04 PM): much less all the other
characters combined
SadisticMystic1 (7:39:10 PM): Good.
SadisticMystic1 (7:39:27 PM): Because no one makes up
stories and gets away while I'm on watch.
GHZteam (7:39:59 PM): I'm not making up stories.. I
swear..
GHZteam (7:40:12 PM): If you listend to everything I said
it would make sense
SadisticMystic1 (7:40:19 PM): Except it doesn't.
GHZteam (7:40:24 PM): It does..
SadisticMystic1 (7:40:26 PM): There is no such glitch.
GHZteam (7:40:37 PM): Yes there is you can't just say
that
SadisticMystic1 (7:40:39 PM): What time did you reach
the end of Knuckles' area
SadisticMystic1 (7:40:43 PM): or even Tails'?
GHZteam (7:40:52 PM): I don't know it was a year ago I
said..
GHZteam (7:41:03 PM): I really didn't care at the
moment...
SadisticMystic1 (7:41:41 PM): And yet, when asked if
you knew how, you said "yes" in 18 minutes.
GHZteam (7:41:51 PM): What?
GHZteam (7:42:06 PM): I never said such thing..

SadisticMystic1 (7:43:08 PM): assuming a year ago is
what you meant by "right away"
GHZteam (7:43:22 PM): Right away when I got the game..
GHZteam (7:43:39 PM): I just got the game for gamecube
last christ

Welcome to the secret hideout, where you can do absolutely nothing if that's what you want!  If there's something you want to do or say, then this is also a place where you can do or say that!

Milk and cookies to your left.  Free beer in the far corner (warning...we will be checking IDs).

So we're here...do (or don't do) as you wish.

"Tails and Sonic" claims illegal times in Shadow 1 and Eggman 2.

Not much to say about it.

Information Kiosk / Is 2.3 already being tried?
« on: February 12, 2004, 12:35:47 pm »
First, I had to use www.soniccenter.org: leave out the WWW and it's a white page that says "Mozilla Firefox rocks your socks."

Second, the times seem to be there, but in the left-hand frame it says "Sonic 1" with no Videos link and a New link that has () with nothing in the parentheses, followed by SQL error.

So is this an early 2.3 test, or an unexpected bug?

Eighteen minutes ago, the ever-looming barrier was broken.

Pyramid Cave 3 2:47.00 cuts 10+ seconds and gives me Adventure 2 total time of 2 hours 59 minutes 51.70 seconds, non-SC.

With this ranking down, I guess it's time to move on and improve standing in the points side of things.

<fill in the blank with some emoticon; I don't use them>
