Gaming and Grazing / Re: Funny video game moments.
« on: June 10, 2006, 01:42:48 pm »
I remember the first time I played Mystic Mansion (?) Hero in ShtH.  I spent ten minutes touching every Chao in the circle trying to find Cheese and then finding him alone behind a door.  I decided not to get upset and laughed it off.  For quite a long time it must be said.

Also, for an old PSX game that I own called Bottom of the Ninth, when the PBP guys says "That one's outta here...it's going...going...hit to the wall!" (the runner got a double) x_x

Voice screwups in SA2B:
  • Rank E with Sonic in Japanese.  Sonic's "*sigh* Not my day!" is not quite Japanese nor quite English, either.  Must be heard to believed.  In Blaze's Cannon's Core vid.
  • Knuckles digging in Japanese. (Hwa hwa hwa!)
  • Eggman's desync with "The Chaos Emerald!" in one of the dark cutscenes.  Can't remember which one though.

Also remember thinking that Tails' new nasal voice in Sonic Heroes didn't seem to fit him very well.

So that's my "funny" moment post. =P

Sonic Spinball.

While it uses the same three notes, they're in a different key and with different MIDI instruments.

Wrong on both accounts *throws rotten bananas at RPG and Greham*

This is your LAST guess before I finally give away the answer.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine?

I never even thought of that! X)

I was actually thinking of a different game, but this one is okay for one banana.  *gives mike89 a banana*

Now, if anyone can actually guess the answer I intended...

Correct.  *hands magnum12 a banana*

One last one: What is the only GENESIS Sonic game to not feature the traditional ring sound effect?

The winner gets TWO bananas. :)

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in the first post.

RPG wins full marks for #1 *gives RPG a banana*
Marth gets partial marks for #2 *gives Marth a half-eaten banana*

#3 is still up for grabs, because...YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO VOICED VECTOR IN ShtH!! :O

1. The death of which voice actor started a complete rehiring of the Sonic video game voice acting cast?
2. According to the Sonic comics, what is Sonic's full name?
3. Which character, in what game and which actor voiced the infamous phrase "Find the computer room"?

Please explain to me how you can get this message box within MSN.

Yes, I know how to do it, and it's rather simple.  The first to one to post a correct answer in this thread gets a banana :)

Have fun!

Well, there was this couple who where having a good time talk'n and crap, and they got hungry. So they had peanut butter jelly sandwitches. The girl couldn't have had peanut butter becuase she was alergic to anything that had peanuts in it. So they at the guy have peanut butter jelly, and the girl having just jelly on her sandwitch. later the guy dove her home, they kissed and went to bed. The next day, the girl was dead. A later ottospy saw that she had peanut butter in her siliva. that kiss was a killer one.

The Peanut Kiss of Death has already been debunked.  It happened in Montreal and they have rediagnosed her cause of death as asthma.

1. That picture is simply hilarious. roffle. I just have to have a copy of it.
2. Thread necromancy is bad. I hearby give the mods permission to conjure up a "penalty game." (Which as some of you know, is one of my trademarks established in a forum game, which got their inspirations from another source.). If they want to use it but can't think of any ideas, just ask me and I'll come up with one.

Speaking of which, when will you update your Horrible Misfortune Game next?  I want teh hat trick of right answers!!! x_x

smtp's Marble 1 ring count of 133 is officially impossible, as verified by SonED.

With smtp's ring count gone...I HAVE ANOTHER WORLD RECORD! W0000T! (count's up to three, seeing as I just got 1:13 on Final Zone x_x)

I used to be really into TAing Crash Bandicoot 2, but I don't anymore.  Just for fun, here's my rule sheet and some of my "times":

Rules:
•   There are ten (10) Divisions in which to compete, with 132 Subdivisions:
o   Crystal Collection Time Attack (abbrev: Crystal) – a level run which involves grabbing the crystal and finishing the level.  Contains 25 Subdivisions.
o   Level Completion Time Attack (abbrev: Completion) – a level run which involves finishing the level WITHOUT grabbing the crystal or any gems in the process.  It is strongly advised that you attempt this run after collecting the crystal, trying to break as little boxes as possible and NEVER taking the death route.  Contains 28 Subdivisions.
o   Gem Collection Time Attack (abbrev: Gem) – a level run which involves finishing the level and collecting ONE gem during the course of the run.  Contains 40 Subdivisions.
o   Boss Completion Time Attack – a boss run which involves destroying the boss in the fastest time possible.  Contains 5 Subdivisions.
o   Secret Warp Unlock Time Attack (abbrev: Warp Unlock) – a level run which involves unlocking a secret warp spot in the fastest time possible.  Contains 5 Subdivisions
o   Bonus Round Time Attack (abbrev: Bonus Round) – a bonus round run which involves completing the “Bonus Round” section of a level in the fastest time possible.  Contains 22 Subdivisions.
o   Total Times: involves adding together certain times.
Contains 6 Subdivisions:
   Total Time: Crystal – involves adding together all Crystal times.
   Total Time: Completion – involves adding together all Level Completion (NOT crystal) times.
   Total Time: Gems – involves adding together all Gem times.
   Total Time: Bonus Rounds – involves adding together all Bonus Round times.
   Total Time: Secret Warp Unlock – involves adding together all Secret Warp Unlock times.
   Total Time: Bosses – involves adding together all Boss times.
   Total Time: 100% Completion – involves adding together all Crystal, Gem and Boss times.
•   Dying in a boss fight or at the beginning of a level (before hitting the first checkpoint) in order to get a faster warp speed is allowed.  However, restarting at a checkpoint is not allowed.
•   Crystals and gems can NEVER be collected in the same run (with the exception of Hang Eight Speed Gem and Plant Food Yellow Gem, which are impossible to avoid and therefore not eligible as Subdivisions for competition).
•   Rules for length of run:
o   Crystal, Completion, Gem, Warp Unlock, Boss – set the second counter on the VCR to 0:00:00 on the exact frame when the opening room begins to display; the run ends on the exact frame when the screen fades completely to white from the exit room.
o   Bonus –
   For drop-down bonus rounds (e.g. in Turtle Woods and The Pits) the run begins the exact frame when Crash touches the ground, and ends as soon as the console begins to add up fruits and lives.
   For platform bonus rounds (e.g. in Snow Go and Hang Eight) the run begins the exact frame when Crash is able to move off the starting “?” platform, and ends as soon as the console begins to add up fruits and lives.
   For the Training Level – the run includes the cinematic at the beginning, so the run begins at the first frame of the cinematic and ends when the screen goes white.

Crash Bandicoot 2 – Speed Running
Individual Times Checklist

Training Level Completion – 0:38

Turtle Woods Crystal – 1:33
Turtle Woods Completion – 1:34
Turtle Woods Blue Gem – 1:33
Turtle Woods Box Gem – 2:37
Turtle Woods Bonus Round – 0:07

Hang Eight Crystal – 1:09

The Pits Crystal – 2:01

Ripper Roo Completion – 1:29 (this is pretty much a maximum time; the only way you can abuse it is by hitting him the instant he comes down after the Nitro part)

That's it.  I lost interest after that x_x

Wikkity! / Is video-making legal?
« on: April 08, 2006, 07:25:01 pm »
The Canadian system has an obscure loophole concerning multimedia: if a copyrighted image is modified in any way, shape or form, or is combined with other copyrighted images, it is legally considered a "piece of art" and therefore said artist is not eligible to be sued for copyright infringement.

This was meant to legalize "contemporary" art which sometimes uses copyrighted images to express opinions, and luckily for Canuck TAers, changing ANYTHING in our TA vids (even something like quality or framerate) legally makes the clip a piece of art (albeit a moving piece of art).
