To clarify:

- any% is racing all 5 tracks. You are required to get 1st on the first 4 courses to unlock Radiant Emerald.

- Beat the Game with All Chaos Emeralds has any% rules, but you must also get all the Chaos Emeralds in the  first 4 courses.

- 100% is any% + All Chaos Emeralds rules, and in addition, you must also get all the Sonic Tokens in the courses, and beat the unlockable characters in the challenge races. To finish this race, you must have all Chaos Emeralds and all characters unlocked.

- "No OoB" categories ban all Out of Bounds lap skips in the game for this race. If you accidentally do an OoB skip, you must restart the level.

- Any weather conditions are permitted, but difficulty setting should be left at "Normal" (the default).

Lastly, you are permitted to use any character you wish at any point in the race, including ones you unlock (starting from a new file as we normally do, of course).

This race will be held on Sunday 23rd June for Sonic's birthday. We decided to go with a S1-S3&K marathon since it just missed out in the last marathon vote. Emeralds will not be included in the goals and any goal that has Sonic in it, you may use Tails as well if you wish. The goals are:

1) Beat Sonic 2 as Sonic: 10
2) Beat Sonic 2 as Knuckles: 1
3) Beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles as Sonic: 9

We've decided to separate the two versions again just like Sonic 2 8-bit. The only differences are in Mecha Green Hill 3, Aqua Planet 3 and Electric Egg 3. The layouts are slightly different and from what I can see the MS version is slightly better. So you'll need to state what version you want to use.

EDIT: TSC was down when this topic was supposed to have its voting closed. We raced "Beat the game as Sonic", no preference on version, though I think everyone used MS anyway.

TSC Race Night / Race Night 25: Special Race

To celebrate Race Nights making it to 25 races, I thought we could do something special for it. I was thinking along the lines of a marathon. So really we'll be doing a multiple game race. The games that won were Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2.

Here are the goals for Sonic Adventure 1:

TSC Race Night / Race Night 24: Sonic 2 GG/MS

The next game is Sonic 2 8-bit. Looking at SRL, it looks like they're treating the game exactly the same as Sonic 1 8-bit, as in separating the two versions. Not only do we have to decide on a goal, but we'll have to decide on what version to use. Not many people know this game, so I'll explain what the version differences are and then you guys can decide on what version to use.

Here are the differences:
1) The Game Gear version has a lower screen resolution.
2) The Underground boss is more difficult due to the Game Gear's lower resolution. You can't see the bouncing balls coming from as far away as you would on the Master System. Plus the speed and bounce height of the balls is randomized in the Game Gear version.
3) The rising water in Aqua Lake 2 is missing from the Mater System version. So in the Master System version you'll be slightly faster in the beginning and end of the act.
4) The boss layout in Green Hills 3 is different. In the Game Gear version you are on a steeper hill, however because of the screen resolution he will be slightly faster than the Master System version. But this boss is a huge troll, so imo the Master System version would be better as you have more time to react to what he is doing.
5) The beginning in Gimmick Mountain 1 is slightly different. In the Game Gear version you have a spring, pretty much sending you to the top almost straight away. In the Master System version you have to use an extra spinner wheel. So the Master System version will cost a couple of extra seconds.
6) If deciding on all emeralds, you can't see the tubes and the escape chute while fighting Robotnik in Crystal Egg 3.

So there you have it, you can decide on which system is the best/easiest for you. The goals are:

2) Beat the game with all emeralds
