General Sonic / SSBB Sonic Music
« on: January 07, 2008, 09:10:51 am »
Hadn't seen this discussed here, but it was on SSN so I wouldn't be surprised if most of you had heard this.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music19.html
This is the Sonic music to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it's actually an Angel Island remix by none other than Jun Senoue, and it KICKS.  I think we may have a good idea which stage is appearing now?
Interesting question: What other music would you like to see redone like this?  I know there's already a ton of unofficial remixes out, but Jun Senoue is about as official as it gets.  I personally would like to see Chemical Plant and Launch Base have some kind of official remix of this vein.

I don't think it's bumping if it's a sticky, right?
Does anyone have a Heroes straight-A save for the PC?  I had one, lost it, started making another one, lost that too after I reached Hang Castle, and really don't want to start over AGAIN.  Thanks.

Hey man, welcome welcome.
Just a couple of heads up:
1st, note that people refer to others by their original logon names.  A few months ago several members suddenly decided to rename themselves after random (usually flying) Pokemon.  Then a bunch added Darkspines to their forum names after one of the newer members.  Hopefully things won't get too confusing due to that.
2nd, I do know people here who may get upset at the sig.  Not because of its content.  But because it's large and can take awhile to load.  I wouldn't change it unless someone says so, but I figured I'd give you the warning as a passive observer.
3rd, beware of RPG.  He has wrath.
EDIT: RPG = DarkspinesStarly (I think XP)

And, where did the login go?  It wasn't in the top corner like I remembered it, I had to come through the forum.

Howdy Messenger! (sounds cooler than "aim", unless I'm totally misreading you....)  Don't worry about not having much to contribute, just keep playing and getting better and who knows how well you can do.  My first (and so far only) decent record I hit by total accident, so you never know what you can do until you do it.

As for the "Best Ways to Die" competition, I'm thinking of a certain death in Green Hill 1 that generally nobody gets unless they're time attacking.  You know, jump the loop right after the checkpoint and barrel down the pipe.  You'll hit a speed so fast that the camera can't keep up, you'll go down a small hill and accidentally hit the bottom of the screen.  Ta da, you just died purely by going too fast.

@ the videos:
1. WTH with the robots?!
2. How come, when the character says "Gear Change", THE GEAR DOESN'T CHANGE?
3. w00t at the new type signs (speed, fly, power, and two new ones....)

HOLY ....
Just looking at the records pages for the respective members, here's the number of PAGES of records each holds:
mike89: 8
Thorn: 12
SkyLights: 23
DarkspineSonic: 17
RPGNutter: 11
That is a LOT of records in DsS' hands.
I could try my best in Heroes but everyone knows I'm only good at RAing <.< >.>

« on: December 12, 2007, 08:45:00 am »
Just asking, I'm probably in the wrong place here, but I was glancing at my AntiRecords page.  How exactly are the AntiRecords sorted on that page?  There's been times that I've started at the top of that page and just tried destroying them all in succession.  It doesn't seem to do with rank....

I remember first looking at the AntiRecords and going, "woah, did they name a set of records after me?"  They probably did, and for good reason, but I'm not as proud of it anymore....

Information Kiosk / Re: Random idea concerning "Awards"
« on: December 11, 2007, 10:15:01 am »
I'm pro making the chart titles for low score instead of zero point.  I would also consider making awards for most points in a chart, though that could be iffy (how would this work for someone who's only submitted into half the ranks?)
And you need to come up with a better name then "Special".  Really.  Probably something concerning emeralds/super forms.

733
Sonic 1: Starlight
Sonic 2: Chemical Plant
Sonic 3: Launch Base
Sonic & Knuckles: Lava Reef
Sonic 3D: Gene Gadget
Sonic Adventure DX: Sky Deck
Sonic Heroes: Bullet Station
Sonic Riders: Green Cave

Don't ask me about the Game Gear games, haven't put much thought into those....

734
And that shows up on records?  O.o  I dunno, something still seems wrong there.

O.O
XD
This just became one of the best games ever.  I mean, it already was pretty much, but this cemented it.  I've only ever played Melee at a friend's house, but it was always a good time (even getting my rear whipped as DK vs. Fox).  I'm curious as to what stages would be used....  Green Hill seems obvious, but some others would be cool.  Sky Sanctuary?  Chemical Plant?  Death Egg?  Speed Highway?  Green Forest?  Kingdom Valley?  There's a lot of good choices there.  And, if I understand this correctly, is this the first fully-playable Super Sonic since, what, Sonic and Knuckles?!?!

And what's w/ the ring on Storm's finger? Don't tell me he's going gangster too... XD

Hmm, the ring only seems to be in one of the screenies.  Maybe some kind of item feature is in this?
(Please disregard if I'm way too late on that comment)

Leaderboard Disputes / Re: Metro 1 S2 Sonic score.
« on: August 05, 2007, 08:58:17 pm »
No problem.  The trick is, I'm using MC+ directly, not an emulator.  I figured, since I have a 32M Chemical Plant RA video (can't remember from who) that I downloaded from here, that the videos I have (this one is one of the largest) would be okay for eventual submission to this site.  That's actually the primary reason I'm filming them all; should be an interesting sequence when I'm done, all record RAs.  What's most odd is, I figured that someone probably already knew about that path, as it seemed to be the simplest path to cover everything.  The video is kinda funny there though; the recording actually shows me taking about 7 tries at bypassing that door before I do it successfully.  Whatever.
And thanks for the "good job".  Really.  I finally feel as though I've made a significant mark here with that record.  Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, ya know?

YAY! My first challenge! (don't know why I'm excited for that)
Hokay, the video will take a little time to upload, so for the time being I will tempt your eyeballs with a map I made of my trip through the level! The red arrows are the (seemingly) one-way passages, while the long yellow line is my path through the level. There's a semi-interesting story behind this, too: After figuring out how much of an idiot I was with the MC+ saves, I decided to redo all my ring runs properly, this time filming them all. I started with Hill Top 2 (my least favorite) and continued with Metropolis, backwards. I decided that I wouldn't post any of the rings until I had them ALL, just so it looks kinda impressive XD. I made maps like the attached for every level except Emerald Hill (those were easy anyway). I also have this one long spreadsheet (think Excel but different program) in which I keep track of my times/scores/rings, ranks, and the current record for each level. So anywho, I finish the Metropolis 1 RA, thinking that this one seemed surprisingly easy, and I finish converting the video. Then, as I did with the other runs, I look at the end of the video for my score, just so I have something to submit; this was, after all, a RA, not a SA. 78400. Hmm, that appears to be larger than the record I wrote down for that level. Must be a mistake. Lo and behold, I had accidentally broken a record and hadn't really realized it until the site came back up. Again, I'm still holding off on submitting my ring counts until I have finished all of them, but I thought that I should submit this on the off chance that somebody else got it before I submitted. Anywho, the video (about 13MB - sorry) should hopefully finish uploading later today (I HATE DIAL-UP) and I'll link to it when it's done.

EDITED to remove the double spaces - I have to stop doing that.

Am I the only one here somewhat disturbed by the, what, THREE WEEKS absence of this website?  For some reason, I didn't even get the OSNAP BRB GUYS message when the board usually fails.  Is there something wrong?  Perhaps something that I might be able to help fix?

Okay then.  I'm sorry, and I will take down the affected stats.  I will point out, however, that it will not be that long before I can perfect them again.  I will not give up.

EDIT: Replaced all affected rings and scores with 1's because 0's would not work.  Better stats will be submitted when I have time to redo the runs (i.e., probably not today).  And, changed the only two affected times to 9:59.

Competition Central / Game Saves in Mega Collection Plus
« on: July 07, 2007, 10:12:54 pm »
This is kinda bugging my conscience (sp?) so I thought I would check.  I use the saves on Mega Collection Plus extensively when doing my runs.  Like, I save every 50 or so rings in a RA in case something stupid happens and I lose my progress.  Is this wrong?  If so, then most of my ring and score counts are voided, and I really hope that doesn't happen.  I personally would be okay with it, as it simply saves time, and it doesn't actually affect the game itself, but I just don't know.  Thanks.

MAN, was that stupidly easy.  For some reason it never occurred to me that that would work.  Also interesting how much easier it made my "perfect ring path" for the level.  OOZ2 will be HECK though.  Thanks.

Competition Central / Help with Oil Ocean 1 RA
« on: July 04, 2007, 01:34:47 pm »
Hokay, I tried searching and came up dry. I know it's perfectly possible to get perfect rings on Oil Ocean 1, or else the top scores would be much smaller. But, there's maybe 2 or 3 rings I just can't get, now matter how much I try. I've marked where they are in the attached map. I can't seem to get Sonic moving fast enough or high enough to hit them there. With Knuckles there seems to be no problem but I haven't tried a full run with him yet. I've tried this for several HOURS and feel it's about time to ask for help. How do I get these rings? Thanks.

EDIT: Finally figured out what ¦nbsp; means.

Yeah, but everyone knows that SM is Rolken's primary flunky.  And yeah, his word is law, but he has yet to command anyone to actually vote for him.  I call loophole.
