General Sonic / Re: Unleashed Wii/360 comparisons

The boss fights in the Wii version are ok, some are reminiscent of these so-called 'Mouse Avoiders' you find around the web, although the day bosses can drag on for a while if you can't figure out what to do. They're all (day and night) very easy to S-rank though (For some reason, you only get an S or a C in Wii bosses, depending on if you beat the time target. They're also only worth one medal each.) There are 8 bosses, one for each continent + the final boss. The bosses alternate between day and night, also. I have no idea how the 360 versions work though, so someone fill me in on that.
Also, regarding the Extra collectibles, in the Wii version you don't find out what you got until the end of the stage (excepting Gaia Gate puzzles), and you can get BGM's, Movies, Artwork, and occasionally small hints (mostly about tactics).

Although I'm not in it (thanks to me FAILING to smuggle Mega Collection into the 'Sonic-Free Zone), I agree with the custom awards idea. Having sitewide points as rewards is unfair for people who can't make the time. Having a set of challenges like Thorn proposed could be interesting though...

« on: January 07, 2009, 10:56:41 pm »The camera sometimes decides to glitch up on me on certain day missions and I still don't like how Sega built that dark path that Sonic had to run along before all the boost pads and speed pads on the Wii version of Eggmanland because I couldn't see where to go on the path. I also hated that one path that went up and down on Eggmanland Wii where sonic had to hit all those speed pads and if I usually didn't hit those speed pads sonic would die.
Eggmanland is supposed to be hard. I didn't find it all that difficult after my 5th or so runthrough. Also, my main complaint about Unleashed Wii is that it's too short :(

I will probably play, but I'll crash and burn somewhere in S2. Robotnik's Revenge was good practise for the WF boss though. So if I can clear Metropolis and then Death Egg, I -might- make it. Screw racing it though :P
Time won't be a problem, but if Mum and Dad decide to lug me off somewhere, I won't make it :(
Also, unrelatedly, RR needs a boss select. (No idea how that would work though)

This may cause you to skip one or multiple zones if you are far behind, and could be seen as a viable strategy. This can be seen as a 'GO penalty', to avoid someone jumping in at the final boss of S3K, for example.

Well then, all this wallzipping has broken about half of all the games combined, and I'm getting sick of it (Although I don't compete in them, I may soon).
I am proposing something like this: "Exploiting any glitch that skips part of a level is disallowed".
Also, although this pertains specifically to S3&K, many times people have glithed their way through a "Knuckles barrier", usually to get more rings, or because that route is shorter.
I say that each character has their own route (Tails mostly sharing Sonic's), and they should stick to it.
The rule in this case would be similar to this: "Exploiting any glitch to get into another character's section is disallowed". (This could also pertain to other games, like Heroes)
Anyways, so I set up a poll. My idea is that a new category is made, similar to Freestyle, but designed specifically for glitch abuse. (It wouldn't count for points, of course)
Besides, we are meant to be Time Attacking the levels, not breaking them with glitches >_>

Um, yeah, I was there at the time. I "would have tried" if I wasn't completing my run of it anyways... (They started at about the same time I started DE1)
Anyways, "I" completed the game (with only a 'little bit' of savestate abuse) at about the same time they got to the S&K levels. I would so do it again, except I'd fail miserably.
EDIT: In related news, I finally decided to be rid of those savestates (>_<) and did a "console" run-through of Sonic 1. YAY ME!!!

I know that. But 1 & 2 are just ridiculously easy. Just spam the Light Dash button and you'll have them in (quite literally) 5 seconds.

« on: December 19, 2008, 04:31:45 pm »While there are a lot of bosses I simply can't beat, I reserve my deep hatred for Egg Emperor. The ONLY Sonic Boss I can't beat without my glasses but can (barely) beat with them.
Although if I ever get that damn seventh chaos emerald, Metal Madness may join the ranks.
I actually agree with that a fair bit.
Egg Emperor is a pain. Your two methods of dying are a) falling off by failing a jump [aka him hitting you during one] and b) getting pulverized with no rings during the circle arena. [aka getting too close to him]
You can avoid meeting the fate of (a) 99% of the time by timing your jump, and avoiding (b) usually involves smashing the cannons, (free rings), team blasting, and then just thunder shoot etc.
Even so, I still find him a pain to beat.
Now with the Chaos Emeralds, I found the even-numbered ones easy (also the first), but 3, 5, and 7 to be hard. (Interestingly, I found 3 to be by far the hardest, and there was much rejoicing when I finally got it) After I did get it though, I did some dedicated SS attacking and got the other two.
I won't spoiler Metal Madness/Overlord, but I will say he's actually quite easy, once you figure out what you are meant to do.

Then it'll act perfectly normal, using the nick you've specified for ChatZilla instead of asking each time. (You still will need to identify it, though)
