General Sonic / Re: Heh heh. Didn't think this would happen...
« on: September 28, 2007, 05:41:53 pm »
I'm going to have to disagree. S06 is a mess. It's poorly developed from concept to execution. Poor controls and camera, numerous technical bugs, poor level design and laughable story. It's just not good.

General Sonic / Re: Hmm, what way would you go?
« on: September 19, 2007, 12:32:54 am »
I would go with a DS. And no, S06 does not suck JUST because of load times. There's also the controls, level design, story, and technical flaws like camera and collision. Stay away.

You download a rivals team to battle. Whether or not there is online breeding idk. I hope so, but I won't be crushed or anything if they don't, because I know all the good breeds and how to get them easily anyway >_>

« on: September 09, 2007, 06:02:32 pm »
Eh, neither one of those games interests me really. Riders was meh..and I hate the level design in modern 2D Sonics. It's all rollercoaster with little platforming, and the bosses are just lol, so i'm not to thrilled with SRA either, though I may pick it up just for the hell of it.

Well....so you bs'd a few stats...it's not like they were major records or anything, and it's not like all of your stats are bs.  It doesn't change the fact that you are still one of the best Sonic players around.  I couldn't really care less, because im my eyes you're still a great player.

Ahoy everybody. For those of you that don't already know me, my name's Sean Schafer, or better known as Alondite (or Klondike to some >>).

I've been around the site and IRC for awhile but have never introduced myself, so I got bored and decided to >> I generally TA a game for a few weeks, get a few red times, and then move on. Right now I'm limited to R and Sonic 2, but I'll likely have submissions in every game eventually.  Anyone who hangs around in #soniccenter already knows me fairly well, but for those of you who don't, just wanted to say hey. Anything else you care to know PM me, or check my Myspace ( Myspace.com/Exaccus ) also, I think it is worth mentioning..

I can lick my elbows.
LIES

Anyway..

Anyone who hangs out in #soniccenter already knows some things about me, but for those of you who don't...

Age: Almost 20
Height: About 6'1"
Weight: 175-180 lbs
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde and short

Pics at Myspace.com/Exaccus

As far as talents go, I can run fast (under 4:30 mile), jump far (about 22 ft long jump) and am fairly talented all around athletically. I can draw (just ask for some pics if you want to see) and have a pretty good ear for music, and believe it or not, I am apparently a good writer, so says various English teachers I have had.

When it comes to games, I can do things that take people 100's of hours of practice in a few hours (generally, though I get bored easily and don't usually practice enough to get me expertly good at all but the games I find to be the best) and can get good at a game with very little playtime. I can play games of any genre well, and am even going to school for Computer Art and Design with applications to video games. Yay >>

Or if you're like Alondite and can't find the PM button and email me at pinballwizard314atyahoodotcom.

Hey! It's not that I couldn't find it, it just wasn't there. I know where it's SUPPOSED to be >>

Oh hey I announced this in the #soniccenter a few days ago >_> . Anyway, it's great news, but would be better if my PC could actaully run it. Hello free laptop from school.

Leaderboard Disputes / Re: A couple more BS calls.
« on: May 15, 2007, 11:00:45 am »
Not that I'm being any more informative, but yeah, it's a BS stat.

Which is a crying shame, because it raises serious doubts about Aita's 18 second Emerald Hill 1, and I think most of the world would have liked to believe that was possible.

Yeah, I may have to be calling BS on the 18 EH1. I know it's possible, but....the TAS is 17 with practically no SD charge (but still top SD speed) , perfect jumps, and a damn-near-impossible-to do-well route.

Best gif ever

 Amen.

As for SRA...well....I'm not sure what I think. Rush for me felt like I was rust holding right the whole time. There was very little platforming in it, which was disappointing. I'm a fan of speed and all, but I'm also a fan of the complex level design and awesome platforming elements of MD-era Sonics. As for competition I really don't like Rush. It feels convoluted and overcomplicated with boosting and the numerous other mechanics, and that combined with what was only mediocre level design IMO is a pretty big turn off for me. I'll probably gen SRA just for playing purposes, and maybe post my times and scores just for the hell of it, like I did with Rush.

Gaming and Grazing / Re: What kind of cheater are you?
« on: May 15, 2007, 10:41:16 am »
Personally, I'm not a fan of using guides or FAQs of any sort. It's much more satisfying to do something yourself with no help, even if it can get frustrating at times. for me though, I tend to get more frustrated in myself because I can't figure something out, or I can't do something, than I do the game.

If you absolutely NEED to use a guide or FAQ to figure something out, it's usually a sign of bad game design (or your own stupidity in some cases  >> ). Alot of games like to have numerous sidequests, and nowhere in the game do they even give you so much as a hint that said sidequest even exists, and if they do it's obscure and nonsensical (Final Fantasy comes to mind.....).

Even still, I'm not a fan of using guides, so even the obscure things I try to figure out myself, and usually end up stumbling onto accidentally.

So anyway, that's my two cents.

359
I play a lot of Sonic Team & RPGs. Right now I just got Tales of Symphonia, and it's so heartfelt. Anyone here play it?

Yeah I've played it. The story isn't exactly what anyone would call original, but at least the characters give it a certain charm. I was a fan of the combat system in particular. Alot of button mashing yes, but you stand a much higher chance of not having to constantly heal if you choose to play it well. In terms of soundtrack, it's hit and miss, that being that it has some really great tracks, and some ones that want to make you wash your ears with acid. The sound production is also inconsistant. Sometimes the music, voices, and SFX all come out clean, and balanced in terms of volume, but other times the voices are overloud, crackly, and just plain bad. Same goes from some of the musical tracks, some of them have clean, crisp production, and others are so muddy you can't even tell what it's supposed to sound like. All in all it's a pretty decent game though.

As for playing only SEGA games....well I can't say that's a quality I share. I play games on every platform, from every company, and of every genre. I've always been like that. I respect a game for being good regardless of who made it or what platform it's on.
