Tried it; it made me repeat the last one twice, anyone else had this happen? Got a better score the first time as well. C*nts.

You scored 28.0 on this task. The mean value is 22.0. This places you in the top 31.6% of the population for the 9/12 Planning Test.

You scored 6.0 on this task. The mean value is 5.0. This places you in the top 30.2% of the population for the 10/12 Paired Associates Test.

Wikkity! / 2010 AFL Footy Tipping Competition
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:22:26 am »
After quite possibly the most boring summer of cricket ever witnessed, footy is finally back. It's shaping up to be another huge year with pundits saying that as many as seven sides could be on the dais on the last Saturday in September. So with the season opener just over 24 hours away there isn't much time to get your tips in for round 1!

Here's how it works: Anyone who's interested can just whack their round 1 tips in here between now and Thursday 25th March at 7:40pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (that's GMT +11 for those residing overseas) and I'll add your name to the leaderboard. You can jump in beyond the first week but you'll obviously be at a disadvantage.

RULES
Simple enough, there are 8 matches played per round and one round per week; pick the side that you think will win each match in the current round and highlight your selections in bold like so:

Sydney vs Geelong
St. Kilda vs West Coast
Melbourne vs Fremantle

and so on...

For the game each week involving the team you support, you pick the winning margin as well as the result. For instance, I support the Adelaide Crows who are playing against Fremantle in round 1. So my tip for this match could be as follows:

Collingwood vs Adelaide (19 points)

Remember you can only nominate one team to support and hence predict winning margins for/against, and you stick to this team for the season.

SCORING
For each standard correct prediction you pick up 1 point. If you are lucky/astute enough to tip the closest-to-correct winning margin for your team's game, you will gain 1 bonus point for that round. Picking the exact margin will snag you 4 bonus points. At the end of the season (consisting of 22 rounds) the user with the most total points wins the competition for 2010. In the event of a tie between 2 or more people, the difference between their predicted winning margins and the actual margins for the year will be tallied, and he/she with the lowest tally wins the comp. In the very unlikely event that two or more users are still tied, I'll fill a jar full of turnips and you can guess how many are in there. Closest guess wins, but most importantly there will be turnip soup all round afterwards, and if you fancy yourself as an artist I might spare a well-formed, attractive turnip for you to sketch. Seriously if we get a tie at all someone is taking the piss.

IMPORTANT: You've got to get your tips in before the ball is bounced in the first game that week, otherwise you get slapped with the biggest, fattest zero you've ever seen.

Check the ESPN2 TV guide for your area if you're an American interested in catching a few games!

Go to http://www.footywire.com/ for a list of matches being played each round, along with stats and player and team profiles.

Go to http://www.afl.com.au/Default.aspx to find live score updates.

Good luck!

We're on a very similar page about this PPA, as we always have been. You echo my thoughts about the Advance series - similar formula to the originals, but hollow in look, sound and feel (the original was the closest to a success overall imo). "Sonic 4" looks worse again, dodgy art style, disgraceful animation, and as you say a lack of inspiration and -identity-. Each Sonic game on the MD changed up the art style at least to a degree, but each managed to pull it off in an appealing way, you never felt like you weren't playing a Sonic game. Sonic CD upped the trippy meter but pulled it off beautifully.

Also on the nitpicking point, as far as I'm concerned the shitload of usual things people have a crack at about the series these days add up. The green eyes, the ordinary running animation, the fucked up modern "streamlined" look, every little detail you look to to pick up on that Sonic feel achieves the opposite. The second I look at his ridiculous face on the TSC homepage, it's not Sonic to me. My care factor about the series is low as fuck now; if this game doesn't at least end up reasonable I'll consider it as dead as Atari; here only in name.

Yeah I won't be there at that time, but I've got plans with a few mates to head overseas at the end of the year. That'll be anywhere between mid-November and early February. Right now it's a toss up between Japan and California, if it ends up being the latter I'll hit ya up across in Utah Fleebee, and whoever else is around the place too. That's assuming you're around, if not, if you could just leave a bowl of soup and some letters to post out the front of your house that would be great. Lol.

18
The Dreamcast is a kickass system. If you ever become indifferent about Sonic competition, I recommend you hit up a few other games. JSR, Shenmue, Trigger Heart Exelica, quality.

19
Way to ruin our pretend rants Rolken. Way.To.Go.

I suppose it's off to the beach next for you to kick someone's Arabian sand castle over.

20
Fucking great isn't it?

Froggy
Big the Cat
Chip
Amy
Titwhipper

Made that last one up, but he may as well be in there in place of the sad excuses for characters we'll be prancing around with in this game.

In three years Sonic will be found dead, smothered by the carcasses of fucked up characters.

Thorn: Edit my posts will you?!

General stuff:

- AD to go through more than 11 boxes of tissues and two jumbo tubs of ointment during the Winter Olympics

- Andy Richter will leave The Tonight Show

- RPG will reference penises 20 or more times in the chat room, and sometimes we'll laugh.

- The Crows will finish 3rd on the ladder and at least contest a preliminary final. Taylor Walker to kick 60+ goals for the season.

- England to get knocked out at the group stage of the 2010 WC

- mike89 and Flying Fox to finally tie the knot; mike's early morning jogs around campus to impress women will cease. In an expression of glee, FF will go on a delirious napkin raid across the Clapham district.

- Horror movie remakes will continue. Child's Play, Poltergeist and Jaws all to get the treatment.

- flyby will send us all cake and other nice food in the mail.

- Sega will bring back Streets of Rage.

- Asians will continue to be infatuated with Michael Bublé. "I haven't met you yet" will replace "Hello, I don't speak the English" as the lone English phrase known to Vietnamese adolescents.

Milwaukee-born Shae McNamara has been signed as a rookie for two years with the Collingwood Football Club, the most powerful club in Australia. He took up the game only very recently and has been working hard on his skill base - there are several videos on youtube showing his training and skill sessions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYCOZ4O0Eh4

His kicking and handball techniques were very awkward, with a two-handed ball drop and stiff follow through with the handball, but he moved well and full credit to him for putting the work in, resulting in the improved kicking action here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhGrw-ZPhF8

Long way to go and at 24 years old he's a good 6 or 7 years older than the other recruits who will be coming through next season, but I think it's great that he's having a go. Best of luck to him, do your country proud son. Story here:

News and Updates / Re: New HD *2D* Sonic Game in 2010
« on: September 12, 2009, 03:44:34 am »
The 2D vs 3D debate is exasperating and boils down to a developer sucking ass, plain and simple. Sonic Team/Dimps/whatever other ****wit company that wants to keep twanging itself instead of working with the ideal formula for the franchise will probably just stuff things up again with unwanted crap that everyone except the drug addicts working for the company can see is a problem.

Just waiting for the review score this time, can't be stuffed feeling even slightly optimistic about Sonic anymore.
