Beef / I would like to have my competition name changed.
« on: May 21, 2008, 05:11:37 pm »
While reading SkyLight's recent topic "ATTN: Sonic99189", I decided that the most effective way to get my name changed might be to post a topic about it in the forums. Whoever is capable of this, I would be much obliged if you'd heed my request.
I would like my name changed to "Azure".

Any negative comments about the name choice will be ignored.

Thanks.

And it kind of makes me mad when people assume I'm some sort of skill-less n00b because of it.

He's unimaginative.

Seconded
Actually, I had to be somewhere in a couple of minutes when I registered, so I just chose the first thing that came to my mind. I've tried to contact different people about changing it, but my requests fell on deaf ears. :(

Welcome! Remember, capitals start sentences, and periods end them!
Other than that, watch your spelling/grammar and have fun competing!

I'd like to do some of the Emerald Challenges, but I have no clue how to make a .giz file. (I use Gens, if that's any help).

Thanks.
New target times:
Emerald Coast: sub 1:03:00
Red Mountain: 1:04:00 or less

Okay, let's see... Time Attack -- scrap it, I can't do a well TA of ANYTHING. I'm Slow The Hedgehog. :D
Score Attack -- ditto.
Ring Attack -- this will probably my favorite, but definitely NOT simple. Since this is more of a challenge of routeplanning than action (except of getting hit by the damn exploding stars :D ) I will try that first, but seeing what has been done, you're crazy. And in a damn good way that is.
So, what do you suggest for a good start (other than ditching the savestates, that is?)
Remember, even sucky statistics (if you'll excuse the terminology) will help you to rise in the ranks for games. Also, practice leads to perfection, even if it means trying the same level hundreds of times in a row (I still only have 27 seconds in Green Hill 1, after about 50,000 attempts). And if you play Sonic Adventure/Heroes/Advance 3/Adventure 2, I can give you some tips (although some of those games I've only TA'd, SA'd or RA'd a few levels).

HOW DO YOU PRESS THE B BUTTON SO FAST IN SA(DX)

IT HAS BEEN A MYSTERY

No, seriously, I just wanted to know these things:
How do you do the lighthouse spindash method in Emerald Coast?
And what is the proper technique for these shortcuts in Red Mountain:
1.) After you take the first rocket to the platform with the spring, you somehow jump onto another rock instead of hitting the spring.
2.) And in the lava area, isn't there a new shortcut?

If he's really 23 years old, then it's disturbing how dumb our world has become. I mean, liking Rouge the Bat is like something 10 year olds do.
Besides, Amy is (only marginally) better than Rouge.

Tony Stark is a much more compelling character than Peter Parker could ever hope to be. Plus, the whole "becoming Iron Part" part was way better than Pete becoming Spider-Man. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Spider-Man trilogy, but Iron Man just seemed so much more interesting to me.
I could argue with this, but it's just a matter of opinion I guess.
One of the reasons I loved the Spider-Man trilogy was because there was not one moment in any of them that I was just sitting waiting for the next scene (unlike most movies). Each scene was flawlessly executed, with a perfect mix of action and the classic Peter Parker emotional conflict (especially in 3, lol douglas). The first movie was great, outdoing the comics by leaps and bounds.  And each of the sequels lived up to the previous, continuing perfectly the climactic storyline that is...
Spider-Man.

Inconsistent AND dumb.

Nah. It's not bad, but if you want to see some real good movies, watch the Spider-Man trilogy. It absolutely pwns.

A n00bish question, but I'll help you anyway.
Here are some possibilities:
1.) You don't have flash player.
2.) The site was undergoing "difficulties" when you tried to access it.
3.) Youtube hates you.

See attached image (Don't laugh at my suckage, I've been essentially inactive for a while).
If you add my sitewide points up, they equal exactly 43.5 points.
However, on the sitewide rankings, it appears as 43.6.

@ 99189: Don't even bother trying to match the DC times, Final Egg and Casinopolis are impossible to do so on SADX.  Both involve one wall that was only made solid in DX.  Twinkle Park I'm not as sure about; the record for that (IIRC) involves using a light dash to skip the roller coaster - I think it may be possible in DX.  Ice Cap and Lost World involve walls though.
Actually, the DC Twinkle Park time is set using death barrier hax, falling into a place on the Twinkle Circut track were you'd normally die in DX. This saves about 20 seconds.
Well, at least red stats are possible if done right.
And Emerald Coast: Gamma is frustrating as heck (one of my only orange stats).

And, shall I mention that SADX is playable on the Wii?  It probably would have been smarter to do things that way.... <_<
I'm not sure if I want to buy a Wii though. Considering the lack of games that interest me besides Secret Rings and stuff, it might be better to just get a $30 GameCube.
Maybe if Unleashed looks good enough, I'll change my mind.

Although my respect for the Sand Hill pwner may cause a slight bias, I think that DsS deserves #1.
And somehow evading a BAN seems like a cause for smizzla persecution. But why antagonize DsS?

Since I don't have a Dreamcast, Final Egg, Casinopolis and Twinkle Park in SA(DX) annoy the CRAP out of me trying to match the DC times.

This game has a good chance of being... good.

The wall jump seems like a good addition and, if incorporated correctly, could make gameplay a lot more enjoyable (Sonic Heroes did this pretty well with the Triangle Jump).

I just wish that, by some miracle, werewolf Sonic would be replaced with other characters as playable. Playing as Tails and Knux in SA(DX) was like a breath of fresh air after playing hours of Sonic's levels. And didn't they describe werewolf Sonic as "stonger but slower"?

With six mile levels, I'd probably stab someone in a fit of rage if I wasn't able to go Sonic Speed.

But the version differences might require separate charts, no?
There is no way on earth that I can afford to buy a 360 AND a Wii.
Especially after buying another GameCube to pwn SA(DX) once again.

Did they mention anything about a spin dash/light dash?

For those of you who know how to do the glitch, what is your best time to the capsule?
I got 0:58:45 on one occasion.
Has anyone done better?

If you don't know how to do it, here is my method (no action replay needed):
1. Once you are out of the entrance at the beginning, fly forward and right to the helicopter landing pad.
2. From there, fly ahead to the platform you see in front of you.
3. Run to the edge, staying to the right of the dash ring.
4. Hold a long jump and tap jump again to fly to the path in the air that you can't normally get to.
5. Once there, fly again to the big building where Sonic takes a rocket into. It may take practice to land in the right place.
6. You should be in Act 2 now. Press jump to fly and hold the action button to descend quickly. TIP: To avoid the bars which slow you down, just fly out of the building until the end, landing in front of the door.
7. Enter the door at the bottom, and you're in. Don't fly in, though, or you will die for no reason.
8. The camera glitches up here, which is why I don't have something like 55 seconds yet.
Have fun, and try to beat me!

Times:
Bingo Highway: Sonic would be nice.
Anything with pinball tables confuses me to heck.
Oh and a vid of Hang Castle: Sonic might help me out a bit.
Edit: There are only two Egg Fleet vids, as of last time I checked. Why not record one of those?
Scores:

I never thought I'd say this but...
congratulations on taking down my Sand Hill records!
And for being SA(DX) champion for a few minutes before Jawzun took the leadership back only to be taken again by you for who knows how long!
But know this, DsS.
I won't give up on Sand Hill.
I will at least try to tie you, but good job!!!

I, being the most phosisticated member of TSC, was wise enough to predict a probable outcome and take the proper steps to ensure that the aforementioned outcome would be favorable. However, I did not take into account the prevailing variables which have negatively affected said outcome.
The precaution? Make ISOs of my Sonic Heroes disks on my computer, to burn to CD should they become scratched.
However, when said CDs were burned, disk 2 failed to function properly.
The following error was noted when I tried to play (the installation worked fine):
Disk 2 not detected. Please insert the correct disk.
I made sure the original and the new disk had the same name, but IT DIDN'T WORK!
AGHH!
I... uh... need some help.
