lol @ 9823948 lives. A lot of players use it, and I don't really mind it. I may use it, too, when I go for a time like CE that has this one CP near before the booster, so I don't really have to do the snowboarding every time <_<

And do you really think you can get a 2:10 easily with the 1:07 rail trick nailed? I mean, it doesn't save you 1.4 seconds. Then again, you still have the last rail transition (need a name for this, too!), but I'm not sure how much time this saves..

Nah, I start with the default 4. Then, if needed when abusing a checkpoint, I get the 6-7 extra lives in the level.
If I would have used 99, I'd probably have the record by now. I used to practice with 99 lives, because it was just a faster way to ..well...practice. <_< (Thanks for the glitch SM!)
Thing is, I can get sub 0:46 on the first checkpoint only 20% of the time, it's not that easy, seeing as it is actually luck how you're being shot by the big, long, super-shortcut rail. And when I do everything right(about every 3rd or 4th try) it's still only a half-half chance at the 1:07 rail trick.
Oh, don't you care about me. My goal is to bring the FR m1 time down as much as possible, getting the WR is only of priority 2! Go for it, as soon as you get the hang out of it, you will have the 2:10.
I will do everything possible to at least have the record before you can improve your time again!

been a while, yeah. I was like WTF is he? :D
This TAS run could be helpful, but I don't have the AR for that, nor do I know anyone that has it...
I improved a lot on the 1:07 rail trick, I can do it every second time now! That's the only thing though..
Then again, without the 0:45 checkpoint, I was able to improve my time at the last checkpoint to 1:23:94! Too bad I missed the rail at the end again! <_<
With a perfect run, I think I could get a 1:23:00 at the last checkpoint...Only 2 days left, but I'm giving it my best.
And congrats for taking one of your records back!

Although I must say that my time(1:24:27) at the last CP wasn't perfect. I know a made a little mistake which cost me around half a sec, but I still got my personal best at that CP. Before that, it was 1:25:05. CPs do cost a lot of time..!
Very true. No one will ever max this level, it's just too long. Only levels that can be maxed time-wise are something like Green Hill Zone in S1, or other very short stages. It's impossible to not make a mistake, because we're all human after all, no machines or stuff..<_<
Teamwork rules! I think we will at least bring this down to 2:10. And maybe some other guy will appear and and show us stuff we didn't think about. No one knows..

Now about the even more difficult trick. You know the last rail you go upwards with the spring at the end that makes you land on the rail afterwards, right after the 1:07 check?
Now, I have been trying to reach the platform with the Chao Box and the two regular boxes from that rail, and with absolute max speed and the right momentum, I was able to do it. But seeing as I would have to spindash-jump-bounce on the rail that leads me to the 1:24 checkpoint, it would need more time for me to do this than to just let myself fly with the springs. Now, what I think might be a little faster is, that instead of landing on the platform itself, I would land on the yellow edge of it (VERY DIFFICULT). From there on, I could just spindash on the rail.
It should be faster in theory, but it still needs testing,as I haven't managed to do it even once, and I tried over 30 times.
It probably won't save much time, but I still thought I'd let you know :D

I just tried to spindash twice, and I think it is a little bit faster after all.
The rail trick works for around 10% of the time for me now, and it's not getting easier ... After having spindash-bounced on the rail, you have to hold A and jump as soon as the rail goes from vertical to horizontal. This is really difficult because of the high speed you have, you will reach that point in like 0.1 seconds!
Btw, does the last rail bounce transition work for you now? I can get it now pretty consistent..!

Thanks! I've been trying for two hours today, and that's the result. I could of gotten the WR(maybe), but I(or the game?) messed up at the end where I had to light dash the ring chain, Sonic missed it and summersaulted >_<
I'm pretty sure you can do 2:13 with 2 CP, especially if you didn't use the 1:07 rail trick and the last rail bounce transition on your 2:12 run. (is not too sure..)
And yes, I used the 1:07 rail trick, it shot me to the end of the platform this time(!!)

Yeah, the checkpoints are killing me. I'm super inconsistent on the first and third level part. I play them like 50 times a day, but there's still no improvement compared to a month ago.
Yep, just counted it, you have 21/41 records! Hehe, more than 50%! I'm sure you could get every record, but that would require a lot of effort. At least you have the needed skill to do it.

And don't worry, you're already living up to my expectations. For me, the hunting and shooting stages don't matter that much. Shadow and Sonic is what it's at, and you're definitely the best there. You have like over 50% of all these record!

Really? I didn't know it the rail variation saves so much time. You could definitely go for a 2:11 with that on a rainy day!

yep, I was able to, but here's an even cooler trick (which doesn't always work...): instead of normally jumping off that vertical rail (right after the 1:06 CP), hold forward before and while jumping. with this, sonic won't get in jumping animation (with the blue aura around him, meaning he won't be able to homing attack or bounce), but he will fly a bit faster and further. Note that you need maximum speed for this, meaning fast spindash plus bounce on the rail. It saves some time, maybe even 0.5 seconds.
I also did that bounce-rail trick on the last rail transition since I was already abusing the CP.
I more and more get the feeling that you lose around 0.7-0.8 seconds after being restored at a checkpoint and having to charge the spindash...
Did you find anything that might help cut some time?
I'm still searching, but nothing so far..

I was once able to..well, I'm not too sure what happened, but I didn't hit the last spring like I was supposed to do, so I got sent to the rail, not backwards and with speed. that would definitely save over one second, but I have no idea how that happened.

I've been playing FR now for almost 3 hours, still searching things that might help me save even a tenth or two, and I think I found something that might save some tenths, but I still gotta test that. I definitely need a break now, I've wasted over 300 lives alone today on Final Rush. <_<
Maybe try a little Metal Harbor. I like the stage and I can get a 1:27 constantly without practicing much... Who knows..
btw I like how the WR of FR got down by over 3 seconds in such a short amount of time. Competition ftw!

I've been playing FR now for almost 3 hours, still searching things that might help me save even a tenth or two, and I think I found something that might save some tenths, but I still gotta test that. I definitely need a break now, I've wasted over 300 lives alone today on Final Rush. <_<
Maybe try a little Metal Harbor. I like the stage and I can get a 1:27 constantly without practicing much... Who knows..
btw I like how the WR of FR got down by over 3 seconds in such a short amount of time. Competition ftw!

pretty good run, as expected you do a lot of things different. and, you did that last rail a lot faster than me! actually, wow, your ending was way better than any of mine. you did a perfect bounce and landed right on the platform by that last rail without having to homing attack like I did! that is probably a second there, plus the rail to rail jump.. yeah, 2:10 can definitely happen.

I'm not sure about the last rail, but the ending with that double bounce, when you have double bounced and have the max height above the platform you want to land on, do a bounce-homing attack. It's very difficult to pull of, but saves you around half 0.3-0.6 seoncds. I'm sure you can do it.
From now on though, I forbid you to use the 1:07 checkpoint, you probably lost a second and a half right there alone compared to how I did it! that is just a complete waste of time that I cannot allow. just use the 0:46 check, it is not that far back.
Yeah, but I am VERY inconsistent at the vertical rail right after the checkpoint. Didn't think it would take away 1.5 seconds though!
I have questions.. at 0:36(game time) you did not do a trick off the rail, do you think it is faster that way? I tried it before but I was not sure either way.
I'm not sure tbh. Sometimes, when you fly off that rail without trick jumping, you fly very far(to the vertical rail) but not high at all. It didn't happen in the video, it happends like every fifth time, but when it happens, it surely is at least a bit faster than your method.
and I have one time saver to tell you about that I did not use in my run cause it is very inconsistent and I badly wanted a completion. you know the the rail that you have to slow down on mid-way so you can hop left to the next rail?(The one you hit at 1:55 video time on your video) you can keep max speed the whole way on that rail, and instead of hopping to the rail on the left you can jump+bounce ball to it. Turns out this saves a good amount of time(possibly up to a second? I am not sure) because not only do you keep max speed on the first rail you also get a faster-than-otherwise-possible speed on the second rail.

your video gets a B+ (just like your ranking ;)) both me and the game will give you an A+++ when you do it without checkpoints plus I will be handing over the magical golden trophy, cause... it is obvious you will beat me big time when you pull everything off in a straight shot run.

Btw, one small tip. Just before the first checkpoint (0:46), when you a near the one enmy and want to spindash-jump-bounce on then rail, jumping is not necessary because the rail is going slightly downwards. Just spindash into it. You will have a bit higher speed and won't lose time jumping. And you should definitely try (to practice) the rail-2-rail thingy..!

Idk what to say, actually, I'm just happy I finally beat the great Zealous and hope to have some great competition with you and Jawzun.
I probably won't play the level anymore until I see your vid, I need a bit rest.. Any idea when you will have it uploaded? I srsly can't wait. I'll have a vid up soon, too, and I'm sure you will profit form it because there may be some segments of the stage I can do faster than you.
