Well, I got the scores with a major 9:59 and 100K bonus, but I didn't know that that was against the rules! =P

Well, if you can forgive me, I'll remove the scores ASAP. ;-) I have no much problem on that, since I can try my best to get new scores. Sorry about all the mess and stuffz, I thought that it was valid, and after all it isn't! =P Sorry about all that.

Not wanting to gripe at you, but how could you seriously believe that you completely destroyed the prior records on those levels by "using a nifty trick that none else knows about but I do and I'm going to use it and show you all my skill"? You know, this is the premier Sonic game playing resource, and we've played all of these games extensively. The records you see on this site aren't pushovers that can be outclassed in just a few attempts, people should realise this before they ignore the rules and write comments like "beat that!" and "owned!!" while thinking they're the best player on the site.

All members are told to read the rules before they submit stats, yet many still doesn't. I'm thinking that if you can't be bothered to read the rules then you can't be bothered to submit stats either. Can't new members be required to read and aknowledge that they'll follow the competition rules when they first register?

I made a recording of the real record score as Knuckles on Angel Island 1, watch it and then try to beat it.

I made this topic so that bertin would have to provide proof, how does that warrant you to 'defend' him by spamming it with immature insults?

S&A have no problems with providing proof so it shouldn't be too hard for bertin to take a picture.

I doubt that bertin got the records for those bosses when his Leaf Forest 1 Knuckles time is 20 seconds slower than the record. He must have used Easy Mode for his Boss times unless he's completely lying.

He use checkpoints in STT and easy mode in SAdva2, coincidence?

I was quite thorough in my planning to get my times for the first 2 levels, and I find it hard to believe that bertin found and improved those record strats by such a large amount with less than only 20 minutes between each submission. I time attacked GT2-T again and only managed to achieve a low 0:20 with perfect timing, it's impossible to get 19 seconds on that level as far as I know. While I haven't properly played MJ2 yet it's very improbable that he managed to beat the second place time by 14 seconds.

bertin: You won't have to share your strats with me if you don't want to, so you can talk to one of the mods who have the game and they'll take care of the rest.

Ok, I'll tell you this. This poll is very badly handled, as you've included people who shouldn't be on there while exluding those who should. If you're willing to redo the poll once more then you should be more thorough in how you choose the players.

Moreover, this topic fails on account that it doesn't mention the reasons behind those players being present there, which will be required in order for the poll to do well. Since you're asking us which player did the best in their first year, the voters need to know what all the players have achieved during that time in order to have a basis for their decision.

Wouldn't it be better if you proceeded with the changes on the current one too?

You can delete the current poll and redo it with the new options, and maybe make it possible to change your vote. Add eredani, quartz and skylights to the list and remove the "can't decide?" option, as that is the same as a 'no vote'. You should state in the first post that you can't vote for yourself, and change the dates in the title to reflect the alterations if you want to.

I was thinking of a similar system.  Rankings for each year would always be based on January 1-December 31 of that year, but anyone who joined after a certain point (October 23 makes a good divider) has the option of counting the achievements they get by the end of the year or of deferring their eligibility until the next year.  If you just say that the timeframe shifts to 10/23-10/22, you run into the same problem, just timeshifted 2 months: someone who joins on 10/21 doesn't have time to do much until the window runs out.

That's why you should rank users based on the date of their contributions and not their join date. If someone crosses the border and submits their stats near the end of the year then all of the users contributions should be counted on the year which they submitted most of their achievements on.

Since you're counting users by the year they joined, what happens to those who join at the very end of a year and doesn't seriously start competing until the next one? At the end of 2005 I had the championship for Sonic Chaos and a few orange's. I joined in November 05, so I wasn't even registered for most of the year!

If I'm going to be the rookie of any year, it'll be either 2006 or none at all, as in 2005 I wasn't all that good.

As a solution to this, it would make more sense to do the years after the date of TSC's birthday, similarly to how the periodical Top 10 did it. Now the rookie of 2005 would be decided based on their activity in the period between 10-23-04/05 and 2006 comes out as 10-23-05/06.

I mistyped somehow.  I thought my picture read "1:18" when it's actually "1:48"

Anyone can make a mistake, as long as you replace it with the correct stat afterward there's no need to bring attention to it.

Also, the time you submitted to replace the mistype is 1:46 and not 1:48, which of them is the right one?
