No Knuckles' boss route trick on MG2? :(

No glitches used on that level at all, actually :O I remember at least one in your last run. Had a change of heart?

I thought the Sonic 2 remix project, Hedgehog Heaven, was good but not stellar, but then again I've never liked Sonic 2's soundtrack as much as S3&K's.

This should be awesome.

Also DOOMSDAY ZONE!!!!!

City Escape would be smashing cars forever. Dunno about Lost Colony, though, nor do I know what the exact stipulation on these rules is (no cars at all? no stopping and waiting for cars? no more than 4 cars? etc.)

sonic hating on TSC? noooooo [/belated reaction

Anyway, I could be wrong but the 'back-to-roots' promises I never remember Sega actually saying, rather, I get the impression that it's constantly propelled by hopeful fans from wherever it originated.

Anyway on topic:

We don't have a Sonic 1 w Spindash timetable, true, but Sonic Jam is the main case here, and frankly Sonic Jam was bullcrap. I'm guessing it was hard to take seriously since the game didn't just add spin dash but it altered all the levels in all 4 games in its Time Attack mode.

Sonic 1 GBA will 'officialize' Sonic 1 spindash even more, and will be a modern release on a very popular system. Whatever, but I would make the case to add the game, or add a spindash division to Sonic 1.

Also btw: Somehow I am more excited about owning this game than I am about Sonic Rush. I hope the game will have a time attack and that the smaller screen coverage will not be too big of a deal.

Also this is a good marketing move by Sega, by releasing it alongside Sonic Next, it will make Sonic Next look better when everyone plays Sonic 1 and sees tedious it is. classics shmassics. lol

God I wish you'd shut up sometimes.

That's cool, it wasn't really an active "I call BS" challenge, and I'm sure somebody else is bound to pull off something similar now that you've shared your method. I'd try myself but I'm busy lately. :(

Groudon has it. In his defence, though, I think it very likely he just pressed 9 instead of 0, since they are next to eachother.

Sidenote: Getting that many rings doesn't necessarily take 9 minutes, I'm just a slowpoke. :O

I chose 5 before I read your post through but I would've chosen it anyway.

However, Chaotix ftw. Because it's never not funny.

D'you basically mean that, contrary to what Sprint is saying, you would be forced to submit for everything if you really wanted to compete seriously, and that with so many divisions it'd be more than anybody would want to do?

Totally agreed.

Unfortunately this one misses a bit from the end of the song, and I can't find the other flash that used different voices but included all the dialogue from Zero Wing's first cutscene (where the "Move zig", "You know what you doing" bits of the song are from).

No idea what to make of that. I mean, I like Blaze a whole lot, and I guess I knew they were going to have her feature again, but I just pray they don't ruin her.

Speculation of another character being Sonic's son for the LOL.

Also, "The Iblis trigger is an event involving the deaths of several characters". Hum, I wonder if it'll end up being like Shadow's "death" in SA2.

Competition Central / Re: Riders Vids?
« on: May 29, 2006, 08:35:06 pm »
From what I know, there's no specific limit, just what's within the realms of sensibility.

For reference, my Rush vids are, with one exception, in the 7-9MB range, which I got the impression was considered fine seeing how I could only film them in a very awkward manner (screencapped vids will be smaller). Otherwise they would probably have been thought rather large. My Dead Line vid is 14MB, which is a bit big, but I hadn't quite figured out the camera I was using at that time.

I personally don't do this, because I can't use it well to advantage, but it is allowed.

I'm curious, what purpose does pausing like this serve, exactly? Is it to do with random ring boxes?

So the kiss of death legend was busted. Interesting, although the science behind it is certainly plausible. (The mechanisms behind lethal asthma reactions are similar since asthma is in the same group of disorders as fatal allergies.) There was a web site dedicated to the archiving of urban legends, though I can't find the link at this time.

His comment leads me to believe that he made a typo entering the time (it's the kind of comment you make when you don't get a record).

If not, and that really is the time, then I'd kinda like to see a photo of the records screen (no more, I don't demand a video or anything). I'm not really calling BS as such, it's just that I coulda sworn my strat was the absolute best possible, and cutting 3 seconds off it just takes the cake. :( I'm just curious more than anything.

New Sonic games can eat a dickburger.

All I'm going to say after watching that is:

The Sonic Rush special stages were nice. But not worth a whole game.

I SO want to make a fake Weight Watchers ad starring him. X)

But yeah. You'd think if they wanted a more "mature" universe they'd also include more mature storylines/gameplay/already-existing-character development amirite?

That's exactly it. :(

News and Updates / Re: Yet another new Sonic game, now for Wii!
« on: May 10, 2006, 05:12:20 pm »
I actually agree with Psyborg that I'm not necessarily keen on the idea of it being just Sonic.

I mean, I certainly don't like the way Sega vomits out new characters for every game, but it is nice just to change things up a bit. Knuckles and Tails in S3&K, for example, and Blaze in Rush, only have subtle differences so it's not annoying like having to do hunting levels or anything (assuming you don't like them, I personally don't mind them so much), but you still have to play the game in some different ways.

Also, one character is fucking boring from a storyline POV, not to mention character interaction (yeah, bite me, I'm interested in storyline and characters, even though Sega have the storytelling abilities of an epileptic frog).

As for that video...um, there wasn't much there. And what was didn't look great, to be honest. Reggie was talking about how Sonic is now "completely under your control", but it looked like a goddamn rail-shooter. We'll just see, though.

I fucking knew it.

The trailer thing has me excited right up until you see Shadow. From there on it's all downhill.

That's exactly how I felt. I would complain about Eggman's change of look, but, to be honest, I like the idea of Sonic in a more "mature" universe.

Shame there's everything else to complain about in that trailer, though.

Good to see that no efforts are still being made to improve either the voice-acting cast or the matching of subtitles to what's actually being said.

God I hate this so goddamn much.

683
I have no idea what you're trying to say with this.

Also it's "generic".

684
There isn't really any similarity between the two, given that Super Sonic in the games is just powered up Sonic, but in Fleetway he was a whole seperate character (eventually in the physical sense too).

If they were to take a Fleetway-inspired angle, though, it might just give this some justification for existing in my eyes. :O

Also
Pertaining to the "Ilbis Trigger"-

Quote from: some site when i searched for "latin ilbis"
In Judiasm and Christianity, the chief of demons is generally known as Satan or the Devil; in Islam he is known as Ilbis.

So apparently, Sonic is being referred to as some kind of devil trigger by this new character. I talked about it with some friends of mine, and they came up with that he could be referring to how Sonic can use the Chaos Emeralds to turn into Super Sonic.
Fleetway storyline ftw?

More like Devil May Cry lolol

Competition Central / Re: Huge Crisis 1
« on: May 05, 2006, 09:10:36 am »
Yeah, but I much prefer levels with really cool shortcuts to ones that are basically linear the whole way through (as I find Night Carnival 2, which is why I hate it so much).

686
ANOTHER recoloured rival?

You've got to be kidding me.

Don't like the sound of the whole princes schtick either. However, it does sound like this is either set a distinct amount of time in the future from where we've been so far (if all this talk of Sonic being much taller and older looking isn't just IGN blabbering on), or a different universe altogether. Which is at least interesting.

Yup.

Blaze can't do the second one, though, unless there's like 1 pixel's worth of leeway in it that I've never managed to get yet.

And I wouldn't say it kills all the difficulty. That first set of pistons is a wanker to get right.

News and Updates / Re: Nextgen Sonic may yet not suck!
« on: May 04, 2006, 04:29:37 pm »
Sonic doesn't have to be constantly quirky/cosmic/surreal all the time... Let it have cities every once in a while. Sometimes they are really slick. Besides, cities are generally fun. Plus Sonic has grew up a little since then. It should be well accepted by now that Sonic lives in cities, very realistic ones at that.

I wasn't making a qualitative judgement at all.

I'm just saying this game isn't a remake of Sonic 1 like some people seem to be convinced it is.

Doesn't look like anything groundbreaking yet. I just see more of the same boost panels, more of the same scripted springs, and another token board sequence.

And an SA2-esque slide-kick, lol, sorry Rolk but looks like you were wrong about the rolling too. :B

And the "badniks"? I bet you anything you like they're going to be just like the GUN generic beetle robots, judging by the fact that there are also GUN-esque bipedal robots in others of those new shots.

I say this is going to suck after all if all these hunches are right. :( Way to fail at taking a new direction, Sonic Team.
