I would've voted your hack, but I suck at it, so I didn't.

This is the standing for the hacks/fan games so far:

Sonic 1 Difficult Delusions: 1
Sonic 1 Tails: 3
Sonic 1 Knuckles: 3
Sonic 1 Amy: 2
Robotnik's Revenge: 2
SRB2: 4 (It's 4 because RPG voted)
Sonic 1 Omachao Edition: 2
Sonic 1 Megamix: 2

I'm not expecting many to be interested in this, but it would be nice to have hack/fan game night at some point .

You seem to think we're supposed to practice? Far from it! Talk to HyperSonic7701, he can tell you a thing or two about practice.~
<RPGnutter> Well I think your reasoning was dumb, so you get sassed

Bahahah I would totally race S1 Omochao Edition just for the hilarity factor
(also SRB2, but I already said that.)

Also if you're still tracking votes for the official games I wouldn't mind playing any of the classic trio of games, Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic CD (all versions), Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Advance, or any episode of Sonic 4.

I wonder if it would be worth having a "hack night" where we have like 4 or 5 races back-to-back of various hacks.

Possible with short goals/hacks!

Certain hacks/fangames are pretty meaty though (like megamix) and probably wouldnt be ideal

Id totes race in hack/fangame night though
Did you not think I had a mind?

Well if I see a bit of interest in it (like I am now), I see no reason why we can't have a hack night. I'm trying to think of other hacks that might be fun/interesting to race. So far I can only think of:

1) Sonic 1 Bouncy
2) Sonic 2 XL
3) Sonic 1 Return to Origin

RPG came up with Sonic Time Attacked, said it was good. Can anyone think of anything else and what do you think of those hacks I suggested?

Also adding Thorn's hack to the list. It should be on there.

Oh, I love Return to the Origin. I also vote for that. A hack night would also be fantastic.

Generations mods aren't really well-suited for races. They're way too short. Maybe when there are some that are longer than one or two levels.

The only Generation mod thats even viable is Classic Sonic Adventures, and even that has DUBIOUS things

ie

 - you are basically shit out of luck without classic sonics homing attack, though the levels CAN be beaten without them
 - a bunch of the classic levels with modern sonic in them crash if you do certain things, also planet wisp is incompletable

i imagine you could just make a shoutout in irc if you ever wanted to race something else during the week. i don't think they're gonna want to schedule other races during the week, it's already a good amount of work to schedule and promote and keep track of just the one race i imagine.

Just going through retro looking at the hacks and I saw these which could be interesting:
1) Sonic 3D: No Flickies
2) Sonic The One Ring
3) Sonic 1 Alt
4) Sonic 2 Heroes
5) Sonic 2 Secret Rings Control

Click the links and have a look and see if any of those interest you guys. If so I'll add them to the list.

Hey, my librarian is helping me make my own Sonic game. Once it's done, should we race it? Still developing the Physics engine to not have a Physics failure like S4E2.

Not to pick fault but you sort of need at least a basic prototype of your game before anyone can even comment on whether or not its worth playing

(2), (3) and (4) look very interesting, each in a completely different way. I love the concept of "The One Ring", though to get the most fun out of it, I would avoid playing it at all before the race!

Sonic 2 Heroes has been superseded by Sonic Classic Heroes by the way. And yes, it's great, and yes, it's worth being on the list.

As long as we're giving suggestions, Sonic Before the sequel is pretty decent

Since we're getting into fan games as well. Might I suggest a Sonic The Hedgehog 2D?

Right I have changed Sonic 2 Heroes to Sonic Classic Heroes as it does sound better. You can play S1 and S2 combined with the 3 characters and you have the element shields in there too. Hopefully Cream147 can find a level select.

As for Sonic Before the Sequel watch the trailer here so and see what you think of it. It actually looks pretty good imo.

Had a look at Sonic the Hedgehog 2D. Watch the video of it here and tell me if you want to race it. Another game that looks good to me.

My thoughts on these 5:

1) Sonic 3D: No Flickies
2) Sonic The One Ring
3) Sonic 1 Alt
4) Sonic 2 Heroes/Sonic Classic Heroes
5) Sonic 2 Scret Rings Control

1) Interesting, without the flickies you can just run right to the end. So it should be short (and fun) which is pretty ideal if hax nyt is going to have multiple games.

2) No. Scouring a level for a single ring over and over is the exact opposite of short and fun.

3) No idea, if the level design is fair it could be entertaining. Worth playing beforehand to find out.

4) Don't see the point of this one, as the addition of flying/gliding/elemental shields isn't really going to make all that much difference to the speedrun routes.

5) Maybe worth a look? The idea that you get faster the more points you earn could place a higher emphasis on skillful play and mean that mixing up the routes a bit to earn more points works out better overall.

I'll have a look at the other games mentioned and post my thoughts on those in a bit.
Did you not think I had a mind?

Ok I think it's pretty obvious that the main games list is done, so after the race I will sort them out. Going to give more time on the hacks list of course.

I'd like to race any of Mega Drive games, MS/GG games, GBA games + SCD'11 + SPA. Can't or don't wanna race other games atm. >_>
Also, I'll probably race any hack/fangame suggested, though I'm not sure, as I barely played any of them yet.
