Preliminary Sonic Rush & Sonic 4 Maps

I shit you not.

However please note, that these maps are split into two parts, a foreground and background style maps. If anyone wishes to combine these, be my guest. And also note that these maps have no spikes, badniks, rings, trick rings, or any 3D sections.

Sonic Rush Archive
Sonic Rush Adventure Archive
Sonic Colours DS Archive

These archives may be empty at time of posting, but they are filling up. Time Attack maps and Hidden Island maps are not done yet, and as such, will not be uploaded.

Enjoy!

Hm. I thought when I mentioned the tool in chat FKE said he'd get the maps. You are not FKE.

In any case, those look manageable enough and if they get combined into one image per level, I'll pester Gerbil about uploading them. Just be sure to credit the person who made the map ripping tool (whose name eludes me atm).

I was originally going to extract them but apparently it required a PHP site which I did not have. Cruizer, however, was lucky enough to have a PHP site before this tool was even released. Also, the author of the tool is, Arcnor.

It's about time we got some Rush maps!

Anyhow I looked through this and combining them is easy thanks to that unrelated background color:
As shown here
I could possibly shrink them down cleanly to a size easier to view as well (I know I can shrink them but I don't know how clean the shrinking will come out).  Cruizer, is there any way you can get rings/springs/enemies/etc put up as well?

EDIT: Half Size

Not sure. I've only used what was posted up on Retro and just produced it. I'm trying to understand How the games are structured, but it's pretty damn hard. >_>

Techokami provided the PHP files to do these.

Triple Post:

So after some hacking with me and Kirby, we have found out that there is a file within the .nds file that stores the location within a .rg file for each act (bosses included). It seems that the latter half of the file has X/Y locations of the rings. I haven't learned much of it, perhaps Kirby can elaborate a little after this.

But yeah.
Tl;dr: One step closer to Full maps, and Possibly a Level Editor.

So I got to merging the Rush level data that's up there.  I'd prefer to wait until the spikes/spring/etc. data is up but just in case I need a backup... (Or for those curious)

I'll get to the other two games soon, but not today.

So after going through the files a bit, I was able to figure out how the ring/object placement works. However, Luxray and I both have a wall in front of us; we are unable to re-insert it into the .nds/.wad file. (I can get the closest, but repacking wads is still at a very early stage.) We are still going to need help with object placement though. However, if I can figure out this next part, it should be very easy. (It just requires converting some hex into numbers and inserting some sprites.) Luxray and I are making progress though which is good.

EDIT1: Luxray was able to edit the ring locations. The only problem is he is able to move them vertically. Moving them horizontally for some reason freezes the game.

EDIT2: See this.

Because everyone loves Thread Necromancy~

Look what I DID! (Image linked because of the size of it.)

I cannot really do anything about those empty spots as I cannot find the right tile used for them. But here is ONE MAP OUT OF 24! Now I just need Cruizer to add Rings and I will (probably) add objects later.

EDIT: New revision of SHZBoss up.
