This topic is basically turning into a Sonic Rush general discussion, so I'll post proof here.

Good job, man! That must be pretty much a perfect run! :O

Recording more vids at the moment. I've got WP1 Blaze done (best vid I've done so far in terms of quality and execution of the strat). Gonna do LS2 in a few moments. X)

Thanks :) . I wonder if this is the fastest strat though, or if something even faster will be discovered again. :p

I look forward to seeing more videos, I wish I could make more that easily.

Speaking of which.

http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3PKYZMR...NZ06VWLI5QV9CGW

This is a zip containing three videos: Water Palace 1 Blaze, Leaf Storm 2 Blaze, and  Leaf Storm 2 Sonic, the latter being the only one that isn't a new record!

Hope it doesn't seem like I'm bragging at the end of the WP1 vid, I was just really surprised to beat Skylights's time by such a big margin, especially since I was only really going for a half-decent run for the vid.

Just started playing Leaf Storm 2. I found a slightly better strat for Sonic at the start, I'm not sure if you know about it or not, it wasn't in your Sonic video.

Basically just gets you a full boost gauge earlier on.

Didn't you read the manual? XD

I feel cheap not saying something about this, so here. I've discovered a shortcut in Dead Line 2.

If you can't tell what the image is saying, let me put it in words. Somehow, some way, you can skip that door. I've done it about ten times. I haven't got a clue at all how I'm doing it though... :( Reminds me of a shortcut in Mirage Road 1. My guess as to how I can skip the fight sequence is that I'm going at a particular speed where it moves me from the front of the object that starts the sequence to the position exactly after it... but that's just a guess. And it'll annoy the crap out of me if that's what it is, because then this shortcut will be luck based. :(

I dunno. I'll set this stage on my list to play the crap out of now, so I can figure out what it is.

I've found that as well, but I also cannot figure it out.

I think I know what triggers it though. It's if you come off the weird sideways gravity grills in such a way that you're still "sideways" as you go through that room, so you don't trigger the fight with the robots. I've done it twice as Blaze (possibly helped by her hovering ability) and that's it.

Judging by your Sonic time it looks like you might've figured it out already, though.

I think you may be right about that, cause of how you can't hit that spring when you jump off the rope vine when Sonic/Blaze are more in front of the level. There's a similar effect sometimes in Dead Line 2 when I don't hit the spring after that door sometimes.

I'm back... for a moment or too. I'm tired but I'll say this:

I've got SA2B and SA, so I'll probably be quieter. Finally, it's my birthday tomorrow, so DON'T forget! ...ahem. I mean, PLEASE don't forget. ^_^

Oh, and SA = GG Sonic games too.

I found something cool in Leaf Storm 1, but useless.

Just try this and see what happens. :P

Well, the screen shakes, the rush effect sprite switches screens for a brief moment, and if you're lucky, the spring on the wall disappears, and if that happens, you can't use the rush move or grind the rail there. Like I said, useless for time attacking, but still cool. :P

Well that's why it says the first goal ring. :P

Or checkpoint. Whatever. Same thing, unless you're thinking of that ring at the end.

Theres 1 thing I don't understand on Leaf Storm 2, how do you go up those spiral things so fast.

I guess you need to be going a certain speed and (by the looks of it) be holding in X or Y.

This is kind of a quirk with the physics unique to this game. You need to get momentum from jumping down off the ceilings of loops, jumping at the bottom of (preferably steep) slopes, and falling large distances onto slopes. This is the one way you're ever going to go really fast in this game, much more so than just boosting or running down hills (as works in the Genesis games). In fact, it's very easy to achieve a speed at which boosting makes no difference at all.

There is also another quirk that means that even though you will often slow down in midair, once you hit the ground again you'll zoom off at your previous pace (or close to it). You've seen this yourself in Zone X1, where you come fairly slowly off the last loop, but once you land you're running quickly again.

I just noticed why, I let go of boost whilst I was falling from the top of the loop.

Edit:

Yay. :D
