Is PPA playing a different Sonic Rush to the rest of the world?

Sonic06 has corrupted PPAs mind.

I don't know whether to take that news very seriously though, it's more likely they are just porting the 360/PS3 version and adding some gimmicky motion controls.

Right, an issue with this has emerged. Of course, sdj6707 was banned recently.

And of course, he's in all our brackets. So I think we'll just kick him out and make it a Top 19. Unless you all want to throw someone else on the end for #20?

Delete SDJ and put smizzla into 2nd place on mine.

Whether a pit is bottomless or not is fairly irrelevant in time attack anyway. Either way you are going to restart your run if you fall down one.

Well played DsS.

I think if it does get added, it should be to a new sub site. If any game is added just because it's popular, then TSC is in trouble of losing its unique focus.

As far as I can tell there are no major SSB ranking sites out there, so a Smash Center should end up being very popular, and could attract a lot of new players to TSC as well.

Can games be shared between different subsites? Like if Smash Bros got its own subsite, could just the Sonic charts also count on TSC?

Beef / Re: Integrity of Future Competition

Ideally, players would be encouraged to submit all of their stats, and not just their best ones. It's a problem which plagues Cyberscore, and is starting to affect TSC quite a bit with the newer games. I've noticed a lot of people who will only submit a stat if it is highly ranked, this really sucks for competition.

Sonic Rush has a relatively strong competition, but look at SDM who is currently ranked 2nd. He is missing quite a few stats. Is it because he genuinely doesn't have scores for them? I doubt it very much, he just doesn't think they are good enough to submit.

It doesn't really say much for competition, if even 2nd place hasn't bothered submitting all their stats on a game which doesn't have a huge amount of charts. Maybe a points bonus should be awarded to a full set of stats for a catagory, to encourage more competition?

anyway I never played a Bioware game but I am familiar with them from all the splash hype surrounding Mass Effect. But regardless of their track record it's still confusing and disappointing that they would make the game a JRPG. It's gonna be a "good" game I'm sure, but it's still a JRPG, and it's still not a Sonic game. It seems hard to get excited about something like this.
You're not familiar with them if all you've heard is Mass Effect hype.  As I said, multiple GOTY games stretching back over 10 years, and pretty much everything they've released has been excellent (yeah okay, KOTOR2 wasn't finished properly, one black mark and it was still very good).  They are the daddy of the RPG world (anyone who mentions Final Fantasy dies a painful death).

Why am I excited?  Probably my favourite studio working on a game with my favourite retro character in it.  Excuse me if I think that's a recipe for awesome.

I agree with Douglas here, stuff like Baldur's Gate II, KoTOR and Mass Effect are some the best games I've ever played. For me Bioware have made nothing but awesome games, so I'm looking forward to this new Sonic RPG quite a bit.

Also, Bioware didn't even make KoTOR2.

Nice, it looks very promising so far. Apart from the fact it uses characters from recent games, hopefully it will take more inspiration from the Megadrive originals.

Impossible - Beat a record that was thought to be maxed out - or maybe just beat a record which had a lot of tied 1st places

About time - Beat a record which has stood for over 3 years

Helpful - Submitted a guide which over 10 people have found helpful

For the last one, would it be possible to have some sort of ratings for guides, where you can say if it was useful, or a waste of space?

Some guides such as SDM's Night Carnival Boss guide certainly deserve some recognition.

Rules Revisions / Re: SRA Emerald Races
« on: November 16, 2007, 05:09:38 pm »
There are loads of lame mission charts which are just slightly different to normal levels, so why can't we have charts for both Emerald Races and the Viking Cup? Or just add one set in freestyle? Or that Races category which is looking very lonely....

Scores must be attained in a single continuous run (without deaths).

This general rule voids most of the Sonic Rush scores, where you kill yourself after maxing out the trick bonus to start with maxed out tricks. The technique is stated in SpinDashMaster's guide. I've always assumed this technique was allowed...

Non-Sonic Site Discussion / Re: The Advance Wars Center
« on: April 18, 2007, 01:34:30 pm »
I'll add my scores if this site is made.

The Issues

-Should we track Campaign Mode?

-Should we have one large category for war room missions, or should we separate them by game?

-Should we ban the use of certain CO's (Max from AW, Nell, Sturm, and Hachi from AW2 and I'm told Grit and Colin from AWDS)?

I think it would probably be best to track every stat possible.

War Rooms should definitely be separated by different games. The enemy AI is different for each game and so are the COs. Some maps in AWDS have alterations as well, and 4 different difficulty settings.

I can't see any good reason for banning the best COs. Most games are dominated by a few characters which are better than the rest, replacing these will just mean a few others will take their place.

As for the save state stuff, most people save at a certain point on a level and reset if they make a mistake. I don't think it's a very good idea to ban this. I bet most of the scores people have set for the games already use saving and resetting, most of my scores certainly do and I wouldn't consider it in any way cheating.

Welcome zcaliber. Your LS2 is already very good, I look forward to seeing what sort of times you will achieve when you get the full version. :)

Have you noticed any difference between the demo level and Crowbar's video? I've seen someone claim to have a time of 54"xx on the demo level.

and skylight's championship sucks, look at the point gap for second place, no one is even trying in that game because it sucks anyway so the championship will be weak.

lol

A lol really is all that ignorant comment deserves.

Gaming and Grazing / Where's Sonic?
« on: January 31, 2007, 05:26:07 pm »
Earlier today I was clearing through some old books, and found these:

They are basically copies of the Where's Wally books, but with Sonic instead. You have to find 1 Sonic, 1 Tails, 1 Doctor Robotnik, 1 Chaos Emerald, 2 Starposts, 2 TV Monitors and 10 Golden energy rings on each page which is themed after a level from Sonic 2 or 3.

Can you find them all? :P

nah no one here can even get under 1:47, i think its concrete

I don't think anyone has tried much on this boss due to its randomness. My time was just a bit of luck back when I got it.

If you think your time is 'concrete', then I assume you have a definate strategy for it. Mind sharing it for everyone elses benefit? :p

57
I think the ring charts could just be deleted in Rush. The scores don't even save, and you also have to collect rings for the score attack.

In score attack, the trick bonus is easily maxable and it's fairly easy to do the level in the time needed for the best time bonus. So all you are really competing for in score attack is collecting the most rings. But the scores actually save. :p

58
That time does seem a bit insane, but his Blaze comment sort of implies he had a really good strat for Sonic, then forgot it. :/
