How in the heck does one get it in their skull to design a platform game for a known constant of system and not make sure the framerate is passable ...

General Sonic / Re: Special stages

I just have fond memories of finally making it to the last special stage of Sonic 2 and having a severe WTF moment at the 'random' ring patterns.

Still, BLUE SPHERES MUST DIE thatisall kthx.

Good job Stephan, and *facepalm* Sega.

Wikkity! / stupid stupid stupid stupid windows

Exactly. Bill Gates, being the corporate genius he is, found a way to reach out to many software develepors/computer programmers/people who make computerized things in general so that they make their products compatible with Microsoft Windows and little else, so anybody who doesn't buy Microsoft Windows is eventually forced to upgrade to Microsoft once their model becomes so obsolete they can do very little with it. Then Bill gets more money to make the industry even more of a monopoly for him. Other computer companies can't compete, so they merge with Micrososft, and the developers for Microsoft need to make very few improvements on their older models. So far, the only other major computer company that is still bothering Microsoft is Dell, but they probably don't even get 1/100 in sales of what Microsoft does per year, and so won't be around for that much longer.

Erm, why exactly does Microsoft hate Dell?  Dell is one of the largest manufacturers and vendors of computers based on the x86 architecture.  What OS is by bar the most common on x86 boxes?  Windows!  MS sells a crapload of licenses to Dell, because Dell sells a crapload of PCs.  Microsoft itself doesn't sell any hardware beyond peripherals; they do not make their own complete computers.  Thus, much of their money comes from software installed on OEM PCs from Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway, etc ... their two best known competitors in the OS world are Apple, with the Mac OS, and the zillions of Linux distributions.

Dell is becoming the Wal-Mart of the PC world - low prices to undercut and destroy the competition.  They'll be around for a while.

To summarize: MS = software company.  Dell = hardware company.  They need each other.

P.S. I too dislike MS products.

Gaming and Grazing / What game has the best music(exculding Sonic)?
« on: December 01, 2004, 03:16:06 pm »
I wish the Snatcher music actually existed as separate tracks (on the CD, not an OST),  because that music owns.

Deus Ex
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy (VII, VIII currently)
Phantasy Star (I-IV)
Silpheed (Sega CD)
and a few others ...

Hiya Folks / Validating Forum

Hello.  I'd like to be validated.   I read the rules, and will follow them.  The forums seem interesting; the stuff in there could help me play through the games faster in school (oops, did I say that aloud?), and maybe even try to compete with you all.  Also, the content seems based around the forums, and access would help greatly in reading it :P

I play the Sonic games for the 16-bit consoles and back - nothing further, as I don't own any of the next-gen systems (and I didn't buy DX/PC) ... for what it's worth, my best games are Sonic 2 and Sonic CD.  Also, like Jeffrey, I'll probably lurk a bit ...

(rant)WHAT IS WITH ALL THE L33T SP34K?!!  AHGH!!!  I can read it, but it is still annoying - 0|V|& 1 (4|\| |_|$3 (|-|4|24(73|2$ ... (/rant)
