Hiya Folks / Re: Hello, everyone
« on: June 21, 2016, 11:44:04 am »
Hello there, welcome to the site! Always nice to see new faces (or usernames at any rate) around these parts.

Glad to hear you're enthusiastic about speedrunning etc.; hope you enjoy your time here and have some luck with (what's left of :v) the competition. I see you've already got some nice times up for the Advance games (some of my personal favourites :3 now try to beat some of my times! :P shouldn't be too hard) and Generations 3DS, sure you'll be a pleasant addition to the community.

Also (probably) most of us here love Smash too; oughta check out your site. :D

<GerbilSoft[derp]> there isn't right now
<GerbilSoft[derp]> maybe over the weekend
<GerbilSoft[derp]> what i probably need to do is 'suspend' the hidden charts, process those, and then unsuspend

I actually came up with the idea of getting permission from other members and telling their stories, plenty of fun facts though. Only one I've thought about is HyperSonic7701, he's got an interesting story and also has some stuff I could pack as fun facts like how his leaderboard disputes topic is the biggest leaderboard disputes topic out of all the BS calls.

Why not concoct a TSC member Pokédex of sorts; kill two birds with one stone. :P

Competition Central / Re: Deleting unwanted stats?
« on: June 18, 2016, 10:54:08 am »
No, from the competitor's position one can't 'delete' their own stats; this would only hurt competition and contradict the objective of the chart system.

Sure, you could replace your submissions with worst-possible statistics to place them at the lowest ranks on the charts -- nobody would bat an eyelid as this wouldn't have a negative impact on other competitors' rankings -- albeit it only reduces the comprehensiveness and purview of the charts. Deleting stats poses no advantage to yourself and doesn't do anybody any favours.

Guess I'll have to live with those Gen3DS/ASR/ASRT rimes xP

What's wrong with them, they don't satisfy your desired standards? Poor times are still more valuable than none at all; if they bother you, then work on improving them (and deflate that ego a little bit whilst you're at it :P).

Wikkity! / Re: iexrrr - SA2(B) - Route 280 - 276 Rings - Query...
« on: June 18, 2016, 10:38:22 am »
iexrrr's Route 280 Ring Attack - 276 Rings
does this violate said rule that a ring may not be collected twice in the same run?

It technically does (even though the duplication is limited in scope as RR pointed out), hence iexrrr has reverted his 276 rings submission after recognizing this; 244 rings is still max for Route 280 Mission 1 (and 260 for Mission 5), under the current competition rules.

37
Mighty fine collection you've built up here, what eye candy!

Greetings Frozen, welcome to TSC and props for posting here!

Well done on already getting some solid times on the charts; you seem like a nice guy and dedicated fan. I also saw your thread concerning your Sonic collection, that's some treasure trove you've got there!

Best of luck with your speedrunning shenanigans; see you around!

News and Updates / Re: Sonic Robo Blast 2 v2.1.6 Released
« on: March 25, 2014, 03:49:51 pm »
I was hoping I could spur you into remaking TUSC by doing all that Record Attack shit, you know. :<

Please admins, feel indebted to him due to his hard work on SRB2, and let your temptation to revive TUSC get the better of you! ...Oh well, we all know that that's incredibly unlikely to happen, but hopefully your nifty TA implementation will encourage SRB2 speedrunning competition elsewhere, Inuyasha.

"Fixed a crash when two people with Armageddon Shields hit each other."

well... seems legit

Undoubtedly the most badass sounding crash fix I've heard in a long time! Speaking of crashes, bugs and the like, a lot appears to have been fixed up and augmented in this patch; Inuyasha should give himself (or herself... let's not be sexist here!) a big pat on the back (oh, and the other devs should pat their own backs too).

Hold on a cotton pickin' minute... actual news pertaining to Sonic the Hedgehog? Well I never! =P
I've never personally been a big fan of SRB2 (chiefly the gameplay design and mechanics thereof), but I admire the game for what it is, love the graphics, and am impressed that the team behind it are still adding as much to the game as they are. Also, improved Time Attack mode is always a plus. Viva la SRB2! *shakes maracas in time to the party-like multiplayer music*

Hiya Folks / Re: Well, better late than never. What's up folks!
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:47:02 pm »
Late-ish reply, but regardless, welcome! (Yes, I acknowledge the fact that you've already been around for 2 damn years, but everyone deserves a warm reception at some point. =P)

My only real goal is to hold ANY world record, even if only for a brief moment,so I can say 'YEAH,I SET A WORLD RECORD!!!!!!'.But I don;t see that happening for a while due to my absolutely terrible speedrunning skills.

I haven't competed here in a long-ass time, but if I can summon the patience for it (and get enough free time... dangit, when I'm less occupied I want to get more involved in this community!) I too hope to potentially claim a TSC World Record someday; even if it's soon seized out of my grasp, I can still use the time machine any day to revel in my former glory. Also, concerning your allegedly "absolutely terrible speedrunning skills"... firstly, don't degrade yourself that much, and secondly, if you want to get better at speedrunning, and you pour the time and effort into practice, you WILL become better and see your stats greatly improving, mark my words buddy.

So anyways, have bucketloads of fun, and I hope to see your name at the top of at least one of the charts someday. :D

42
I might as well also chip in my greetings! I too am not a regular around these parts nowadays, but I'm glad that you mustered up the competitive spirit to sign up. Its flaws aside, Heroes is a fun, crazy and rewarding game to TA (I assure you that I'm not high), and I got (and did some TAs on) the PS2 version before getting the GameCube version so I can empathize with your pains. =P I recommend getting the GameCube or Xbox version if you can, and if you don't have a GC, Wii, Xbox or 360 then I have to say that the PC version's still superior to the PS2 version. Anyway, enough about Heroes… I checked out the SAGE 2014 trailer a few days ago and those fan-games look peng so I'll have to give some of them a shot! Peace, and best of luck. =D

Rules Revisions / Re: Sonic the Fighters Rule Clarification
« on: March 01, 2014, 08:04:14 am »
That's a good question actually; it's been some time since I touched Fighters (or logged into TSC for that matter) and I'm no admin, but I'm fairly certain that as the rule states "Default settings must be used", ALL of the settings must be left on default, including the others that you mentioned -- it's only logical in terms of fair competition right? If this is the case then an admin should modify the rules so that the other settings are encompassed in the parentheses, and post for clarification.

Aloha Prince Rallis, and welcome to The Sonic Center! You've submitted some groovy Sonic Generations 3DS Special Stage stats already, so I look forward to seeing more from yourself if you wish to keep competing on the charts. The Mega Man franchise is one of my all-time favourites, and many of the folks around these parts also love the games (heck, TSC has a subsite called The MegaMan Center), so I sincerely wish you luck with whatever you plan to do in the wonderful world of video games. You'll learn to love this place, I promise you. =P (Oh, and keep a stealthy eye out for tea-sipping nutters brandishing tire irons!)

News and Updates / Re: TSC has been online for a decade!
« on: October 27, 2013, 11:11:44 am »
Excuse me for the 4-day belated reply (various outside factors have been drawing my attention away from this here TSC as of late), but nevertheless, HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY TSC!!!!! :D

It's difficult to get my head around the concept that this site's been up and running in its full splendour for a whopping 10 years now, and whilst I only signed up myself a couple of years ago, a (despite my typical lack of activity on the site) fantastic two year experience it has been indeed! From registering two years back whilst I was on summer vacation (TimpZ, if you think SonicBoom737's matured a lot since he first appeared on the scene, you should've known myself in my daft 12-year-old days back in '11), to posting in the forums (which I've improved at overtime, as, prior to signing up to TSC, I'd never even heard of an internet forum :O), to chatting in TSC's IRC channel (again, entering TSC's IRC channel was the first instance of myself coming into contact with IRC :O), and to submitting statistics (I still get this rich satisfactory glowy magicy feeling every time I submit stats to the site), I've had a blast whilst I've been around this place and you awesome folks.

In my eyes, TSC proudly stands up as one of the greatest video game competition sites to this day, with beautiful statistics charts and rankings, impressive and beneficial videos and guides, and a great community of gamers, from hard-core competitors to blissful Sonic enthusiasts. The constitution holds true guys; TSC is truly the best site ever conceived in the entire universe!  :V

tl;dr – A TOAST . . . to many more fruitful and jubilant years of running down the street with only gloves and boots on and destroying cars, irrelevant topics, using the /me command in the chatroom in incorrect tenses, losing the game, breaking servers, not adding goal rings to totals and poking fun at P.P.A.'s furry lovin'. I never wanna see this fucking place go. :D

Attaining a second place overall ranking in Sonic Generations is a pretty remarkable accomplishment in the way of competitive gaming Chackoman15379, and you've certainly done well for yourself here so far. Good luck with whatever you plan on doing in the coming years! :)

^ Hmm . . . it seems as though you've interpreted my previous post as if I was speaking negatively. However, I simply said, "You are right in saying that my friend! In case you don't already know, I am fully aware that Gregi speaks English pretty fluently, but I use Google Translate for a little fun. :P" As you can hopefully now see, I was solely agreeing with your statement, "When everyone can speak English without problems, Google Translator isn't required", and was then saying that I knew that Gregi spoke fluent English (in case you weren't already in-the-know), and that I was using Google Translate for fun. No hard feelings? :)

Vous avez raison de dire que mon ami! Au cas où vous ne connaissez pas déjà, je suis pleinement conscient que Gregi parle anglais assez couramment, mais je me sers de Google Translate pour un peu de plaisir. :P

Forgive me for this out-of-the-blue (*rimshot*) post, but I can't help but state that "Aeroethimetic" is truly one of the coolest and most creative usernames I've come across in quite some time!

EDIT: Congratulations on getting an 8'35"04 on Final Fortress with Team Dark; that's 14.16% of 10 minutes under 10 minutes (a respectable sub)! :V

Greetings fellow Sonic gamer, and welcome to The Sonic Center! It's always exciting to see a new enthusiastic player join the scene, and despite what you may think your 56 new Sonic Heroes (that game is awesome by the way :V) stats are pretty decent, so keep up the good work! :) The more you play, the better you'll become! :P

Hey there Dawid8404; welcome to the awesome place that we call TSC! :D
The fact that you've submitted 911 statistics (someone call 911! :P) already is brilliant, and it's wicked to hear that you love the Sonic franchise and the competition! With that said, good luck, and have a swell time here! :V

EDIT: How can you like Sonic 06 but not like Sonic Labyrinth? :P *shot*

« on: July 26, 2013, 02:20:36 pm »
To be honest, I'm not too knowledgeable about the kind of sites that you're hunting for, but simply Googling something along the lines of "sonic rp" or "sonic fan site" brings up a whole load of (mostly) relevant suggestions, so hopefully some of those'll tickle your fancy. As Werey previously stated, we don't tend to partake in roleplaying or fan-art/literature activities here at TSC, but that said, good luck finding a site and forum that's right for you! :P

Hiya Folks / Re: I'm Brutus!
« on: July 23, 2013, 01:52:28 pm »
Brutus, neither the community's forum nor its chatroom is especially active these days (we're a busy bunch y'know!), although the site's main purpose is Sonic game competition. If you observe this page regularly, you'll notice that Sonic game statistics are still submitted quite frequently to the site by its members, and if you check this page often, you'll see that some members submit videos and guides too (additionally, some members have YouTube and Twitch channels to which they upload and stream Sonic gameplay). Finally, the site has recently started pulling off Sonic game marathons (one took place last summer, and another this Easter), where the best players in the community work together and stream gameplay here (typically speedruns) of various Sonic games every afternoon (EST) for a week.

If I were you and wanted to get more involved in the community, I'd start by submitting some game statistics (make certain that you're aware of these first!) to the site via this page (and some videos and guides via the other two submission pages if you wish to and have the means to), and if you want to socialize with the site's other members, I recommend continuing forum posting (just ensure that you don't resurrect old topics or spam!), and entering the chatroom if and when you feel like it. Sound good? :P

EDIT: I forgot to mention it beforehand, but every Saturday night (EST) a group of TSC players enter the official SpeedRunsLive IRC channel and race a goal in a Sonic game (before each race season a rota of games is posted in the forum by an admin, listing which games will be raced on which nights, and for a week before each race, the players post votes for a race goal). However, I see that you're not too keen on races anyways, so there's not much point in me giving you any further insight.

Welcome on board The Sonic Center Brutus; it's always groovy to see new folks make an appearance on the scene, and I hope you have a swell time here with the crew! (And don't worry, you'll become familiar with all of the video game competition jargon soon enough!) If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here in the forum or in the chatroom. All being well, I'll see you on the charts! :V
