You're like the creepy evil guy in horror movies who you see standing in the distance, staring you down, and when you look again he's gone.
[insert X-Files theme music here]

I did not wish for anything and would genuinely not have cared had I not gotten anything.

Ended up getting a professional Canon camera though, as well as a few books and a bit of money.

Tonight (during which I slept for 8 hours for the first time in 7 or 8 months) I remember in the last part of my dream (the previous ones involved Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart for some reason, although I have no memories of them beyond that) there was a Star Wars setting. Some guy grew very huge but then a jedi knight stabbed him with a laser sword and the many others in the room drew theirs too. I expected them all to run up to and ram their lightsabres into the big guy but then it was revealed he was... something, and they got out a few disgusting tentacles in some sort of container and said that this was actually him and he somehow kept himself alive with robotic constructs for the last few centuries/millennia to protect the universe. Or something.

maggot is officially awesome

Totally agree.
Agreed only in regards to the first pic, the second is just too silly. :(

But yeah, he is worthy of being excellent at Sonic CD and 1 and I am proud that it is he who is best at my two dearest Sonic games.

Also I will actually start playing Sonic R, CD, and Chaos again.

Or at least I plan to.

Also where are my glitch-less Sonic R (freestyle) charts? :(

Earlier this week I dreamed that I was being accused of BSing in Sonic Chaos. Which I haven't played in my life.... and also don't compete in.
Strong Bad competes in games he never played confirmed.

In recent times I have found myself unable to keep up with my endeavours. There's many things I need to read, pictures I need to draw, chapters of my story to be written, and even a few games to be played and anime to be watched. However, a day is only so long and my speed at working through all of this has grown insufficient. Things pile up and I cannot do as much over the course of a sun's journey as I would like to, even if I'm diligent.

This is partially because I can only do one activity at once. While I take the liberty to keep chatting at the bearable expense of some speed, I'm unable to do any of the above simultaneously. If I write I can't draw at the same time, if I watch an anime I'm too occupied to read through wikipedia articles. Is there any way to increase my productivity to become faster and more efficient?

Gaming and Grazing / Neo Aquarium: King of Crustacean
« on: November 19, 2009, 04:38:53 pm »
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a video of a game and after a bit of research discovered a few others on Nico Nico Douga, as well as the site of the developer. Not much else was to be found, yet the site promised a trial version to be released in due time, whose release I hotly anticipated. Today I somehow felt compelled to look again, and to my joy there was a new tutorial video on NND and a site for the game, which hosted a demo: http://www.neoaq.net/
Excited like a little kid on Christmas Eve I immediately began playing, and goodness gracious it did not disappoint, at all. After a few rounds I immediately searched for a working screen recorder and after a while had finally found one and started recording, here's the two videos I uploaded to YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN840kqvb_Q

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6o1878tzdY

Now as to the game itself. Neo Aquarium simulates a tranquil underwater world presented in humble 3D. You select to play as one of currently 5 crustaceans, including a cancer, a lobster, and a hermit crab. Once you have chosen your maritime avatar, you set out to swim and wander around the sea floor until you encounter another of the characters. You thus engage in battle with it, which involves using your claws to strike them, shooting bullets all over the place, FIRING LASER BEAMS FROM YOUR PINCERS THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER

The game seems to be tailored to joypad controls, primarily PS2 ones. I personally used a 360 controller and it worked very well. I can't say anything about the optional keyboard consoles as I never tried them. Nonetheless, let me explain how you play the game.

I shall use the in-game button names, you can assign to them which ever button on your controller you'd like.
The B button lets your animal swim, quite simply. Hold it down to keep ascending, tap it to now sink but to move around at greater height.
The Y button launches long-range attacks. Single presses fire small and fats projectiles at the target, while holding it down will after about a second launch a continuous barrage of homing bullets from your legs.
The X button lets you use your claws for close-ranger combat in the form of scratching and bashing. I think you can also rgab your crusty foe.
If you hold this button down, optionally together with the Y button, you will charge a small bar of up to three levels, depending on how full your POW meter at the top is. Releasing it at any stage will unleash a special attack, which usually involve lasers spouting from your pincers or antennas which can do some hefty damage if they hit the opponent. Holding down both X and Y produces a different result usually more focused on projectile attacks.
The A key is used to lock on to targets, or to retract your focus on them.
Holding down this button will allow you to shed off your skin. This depletes your entire POW bar, but recovers lost limbs. More on this below.
Holding the R key and then pressing on either Y or X allows you to discard one of your legs or claws, respectively. This will also be mirrored in the white silhouette in the bottom right. Doing this makes your limbs serve as options, basically. Legs will stay in place and holding the Y button will make them shoot as usual, just from elsewhere. And hitting X allows you to send your detached claws after the enemy, which is useful because you can engage in close-range combat without needing to actually get close! Special moves still affect these limbs, so you can also fill the screen with lasers if you've distributed them well.
The L button when held down simply focuses the camera behind you.

That's about it. Enjoy!

Dazzle? http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/ this?
I might try that... so far the method I have been using was that I used a SCART box to split the signal of my consoles into the DVD recorder and my TV, so I could use the latter while recording simultaneously. This works well for the most part, but only with NTSC or PAL-50 isgnals. It fails for more modern consoles which can output PAL 60hz though.

If you record videos of PAL games in 60hz (i.e. basically Gamecube/PS2 and upwards), what do you use? My DVD recorder can only handle NTSC or PAL in 50 hz, so I would like to know...

EDIT: Come to think about it I never actually uploaded the second part of the Hieda Akyuu comic here either. FIXED

Today I felt very angry, emptily sad, and a bunch of other diffuse emotions at the same time, flowing into a mild insanity. So I decoded to channel these feelings into my hand and started to draw wildly without any plan or regulations. This was the result, afterwards I felt very tird and exhausted, but also calm and peaceful.
