Welcome to TSC, SqwareEcks! You're starting off with really impressive times in SA2. Ahhh, I wish I was that good when I joined. Keep it up and you'll be in the red for Times in no time.

Wikkity! / Re: What are YOU planning on getting for Christmas?
« on: December 26, 2010, 08:11:51 pm »
I ended up getting an Xbox360 with Sonic Unleashed and the Genesis collection. Kind of came out of left field - I thought I was just going to play with defunct systems forever and I was okay with that.
With that, I had the obligatory Christmas cash, clothes, and chocolate. Honestly, I'm still reeling from getting the Xbox, what the hell.

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas!

General Sonic / Re: New voice cast is up. (Will update)

Interesting new blend - I don't mind the new voices. Shadow's is an improvement from Griffith, and Rouge doesn't have Old Hag Syndrome™ anymore. Omochao reminds me of Ed from Cowboy Bebop.

It certainly looks pretty, and I've heard good things about it. Might hold off on buying for a bit.

Double post, serving as a bump.

I've revised the song I posted previously and added a bit more to it.

Here you go!

I'm considering adding/learning how to pan, probably tweak the balance a bit more, etc. Thoughts?

Thanks, Cutiefox! I've tweaked and added more to it, but I'll re-post it when there's more to show.

I really hope you post up the finished versions of these tunes, since I got into both near immediately.
My favourite of the two is Song 7, it sounds like it's part of a game OST (reminiscent of a few games, including Sonic for a bit at the beginning). Balance is good, and it's pretty impressive sounding.
I also like Jungle. The beginning serves itself well - the drum track that only lasts a measure sets the scene of a jungle. (I'm also a fan of the sound used at :07, but I've no clue how to describe it.)
When the song really kicks in, it holds a nice, solid groove. The bassline on the piano is rockin', reminds me of jams I used to have (also reminds me a bit of Linus and Lucy). :D
My only beef is that I found the snare to be a little too loud when it entered. It was better when more instruments filtered in, but when it was just drums + bass, it was... off-balance + a little distracting.
What program(s) do you use, Cutiefox?

Fffff, I'm definitely in if there's no schedule conflicts with work/time zone hilarity.

If I had a 360, I definitely would. Alas, I am 360-less. :(

Also, just a little off-side note on the series... RKA and Sparkster both had different charge-up times for the rocketpack (medium-fast speed vs. near instant), and I wondered how it'd be executed in Rocket Knight. I saw how slow it charged up in a video preview and wondered if it'd affect gameplay negatively - so far, I am glad to say, it does not. (:

While we're at it, let's play a game and come up with ideas that Sega could rip off and slap Sonic into. The other players must guess the source material.

1. Fighting demons through the power of suicide.

2. Manipulate time identically to what's seen in Braid, use "Chaos Control" in title somewhere.

^ Sorry about that, the link's fixed now.

Listening to your track, it's really mellow. The layers of textures are subtle and blend in nicely. I think it might be a good headphone song, which I'll have to try later.

The melody that starts at 1:25 is good, but I think it needs some harmonic support. It's fine by itself, but imo it needs a progression underneath to spell everything out and make it pop. Just a thought.

also I can see why you called it Panning. :p

This is quite true... Quite true indeed. I haven't gotten very far into it, just to the bigger boss battle (after fighting Axel Gear the first time). Unfortunately, my comp lags the hell out of the game, but I'll fix that before I play again.

The music's great (though imo RKA's OST > all), the nods to the RKA are awesome, and the controls are easy to learn. My only complaint is rather insignificant: that the levels seem a little too long. That doesn't take away from the game though, so it's all good. B)

I can't wait to start playing it again~

This.

My first impressions were: "oh god what's wrong with his hands they're huge" and "two steps forward, three steps back."

Interested to hear more about it, though.

I started making something for the last few hours or so (when I really should've been sleeping) that I haven't finished yet. Something like a teaser. It started out as a drum loop alternating from 5/4 to 7/4, but I never got around to it in the actual song!

Special Stage Sez...

Kinda sounded like a Sonic-y thing for the first part of it, but that might just be me.

Thoughts?

Edit: Link should be fixed now.

Well... here I am, taken not ten minutes ago:

And here's a silly picture from awhile ago:

The explanation for the tissue is that I've been on a Raisin Brahms binge lately, which has prompted that pose + "GUTEN TAAAAG" often (sometimes in public...). B)

Here's a page from my joint Theory IV/Music History notebook: http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab99/IsisDazs/theorynotes.jpg

Most of the page is notes from a movie we watched, the bottom portion is nearly a direct copy from the board.

Going through this notebook, I noticed I doodle quite a lot on other pages...

Wikkity! / Re: I have a dream.
« on: April 02, 2010, 11:02:15 pm »
Dreams tend to be like stories for me. They can feature only a scene, or have as much content as a short story. I have quite a few friends that only remember dreaming about three times their entire life, while I dream rather frequently and in-depth (while remembering vivid details upon awakening, thankfully).

What I've discovered over the past few years, (maybe even longer?) is that I've been taking the map of my town, and skewing it. The layout of the town is what I mean by "skewed" - it's not an exact copy of my irl town, but some important landmarks remain. There's a strange continuity in these town-based dreams: The map is always the same, and every time I dream in this representation of my town, something bad/creepy/nightmarish happens. I hate to sound so absolute, but I cannot remember a time where a quasi-nightmare didn't occur.

I was freaked out initially, because these "Creepy Town" dreams- as I've been affectionately referring to them- would occur in spurts. I'd dream up quasi-nightmares with a frightening regularity for some period of time, then none at all.
I've gotten used to the routine of them occurring, but the content still jars me when I wake up. If I can remember a portion of the dream upon waking, I'll do what I can to record it immediately, trying to salvage any stream of consciousness possible.
Recently, I have been getting these Creepy Town dreams again, near nightly. I'm honestly not sure what triggers them, or why I've consistently dreamed up terrible things based in my town. I'm also unsure if this theme has happened to anyone else. If this piques anyone's interest, I can recall a few of these dreams, or further elaborate.

I've never attempted parkour or freerunning, but I can definitely appreciate it. Welcome back, Azure. Will we be seeing more freerunning videos from you in the future?

Macbook Pro with accessories (mouse, hub, etc), Sony Cybershot, $50 gift card for Bakers Square (hahaha, yes), Christmas sweaters, a Sonic shirt, and Harvey Birdman Season 3 on DVD.

My goal and prediction for next year is to get in the orange for SA2 Times - around 20th would be killer. Also, to find a way (through Action Replay or really great guessing/patience) to navigate Cosmic Wall m1's optimal route. We'll see how that goes.

22
Pink Super (Biolizard) completed on the second try, and White Super (WC m5) completed in a leizurely :28.84.

Over 30 attempts and I still can't successfully lowscore Green Forest without checks. Still working at that, though.

23
Sky Blue completed in 1:20.xx.

One labelled map, the new save file, and many restarts later, Red is completed with 73.

With that, I think I'm done with the regular emeralds, woo.

Here's the Yellow Super Emerald: http://www.soniccenter.org/members/isisdazs/sonic_adventure_2_b/rings/city_escape/mission_1

24
http://www.soniccenter.org/members/isisdazs/sonic_adventure_2_b/rings/metal_harbor/mission_4

there's Golden's, just a few days fresh! I have yet to figure out Red, and I'm sure I do Sky Blue all das time, but I'll do it again for the sake of the world.

and here's the soupa emerald one, as well:
http://www.soniccenter.org/members/isisdazs/sonic_adventure_2_b/times/radical_highway/mission_1

25
Alrightie, completed both:
In Eternal Engine, I blasted 12. For Final Chase, I used 4 rails, most noteably skipping the one right after the third checkpoint, which took a bunch of tries. I could probably skip that last rail with a bit of practice [since it's probably easier to skip than the c3 rail], but I think this is good.

26
Done [with Iron Gate], finished in 2:24.69 the second time. (first time was still completed but with more level exploration + a higher time~)

Well, hey! I hate to sound redundant and all, but congratulations on being the new head honcho, eh, SonicAD! You already have a lot of support from your buddies, and I'm sure the rest of us who don't know you as well will stand behind you just as much. It'll be interesting to see your ideas and what you do differently around here.

Hey, if these gems were prizes, Emerald Challenges would likely gain popularity and retain players' interest. Of course, issues money + running out would be terrible but it would be fun for awhile.

maybe you could drill some holes and tie a string and wear one as a necklace/some bling.

was originally going to do Final Chase, but I don't want to go nuts juuust yet.
