I know I don't NEED one to improve rankings, but stuff like that bothers me and discourages me. That's why I jumped at the deal.

General Sonic / Dreamcast + SA2 and SA + 2 Controllers + Memory: 39.99
« on: January 15, 2010, 10:08:36 pm »
So I'm pretty much new here. A couple summers ago I picked up SA2B with the intention of smashing my way up the leaderboards; I had played the crap out of it, and I was ready to try my skills here.

But to my dismay, two weeks later and just outside the top 20, I was far too frustrated to continue. The dreamcast offered so many advantages that I was annoyed at how often I had to settle for less since I owned the Gamecube version.

Today, though, I found the best deal ever, quite possibly. A used dreamcast with SA2 and SA at my local gaming store for 39.99 total. I feel amazing now that I found such a bargain. I will get used to the awkward controller (It's pretty uncomfortable right now) I'll try and shoot for some decent marks on the board. Not that it matters to you guys, just thought I'd share this incredible deal.

You retain your new speed until you quit the level.
Crossing a checkpoint with 80-89 rings yields Speed Shoes. Thus, cross two checkpoints within 15 seconds of each other while holding between 80 and 89 rings to get two pairs.

Ah, so with 99 lives, you would have that many attempts?

So after death you get ONE shot to get a record with your new speed?

Where are there two speed shoes so close together?

The rules are confusing me. In SA2(B) Freestyle divisions, how is it possible to keep the speed boost from the previous life?

I'm shooting for sub 14 now.. but even if I don't get it... Yay!

Hey everyone, thanks for the welcome.

Anyways, I got rid of all my times in the blue on sa2, and I'm looking up at groudon right in front of me. I'm going to try and pass thorn (top 20) before I move on to a different game. (And I'm hoping to move to a different game before the week's out)

I'm thinking about taking requests for timed SA2 videos not already here. Anybody have one?

I joined a long time ago because I was interested in SA(DX) A long time ago. I don't even remember introducing myself here. Either way, it's like I never existed anyway so a reintroduction was in order.

btw, Groudon, we play a lot of the same games I think. I recognize that name.

Been browsing the forums for a few weeks and picked up sa2b last sunday. Needless to say I've been playing it a lot since.. <_<

Anyways I want to be a trusted member so if anyone has any questions about any of my times, wants a pic or video or strategy help just ask for it. Not that I'm quite good enough yet, but looking at my past experiences on leaderboards (I've been on a few other sites just like this) I tend to neglect the majority of my submissions and get really high ranked stats on the rest.

One other thing.. What is TUSC? Dumb question probably but I hear it mentioned a lot, is it some kind of sister site?

Wow, those were great responses. Thanks everyone, I'm going to try and beat the vid time for a site video.

EDIT: Got a 28.67, what should I shoot for?

Never Mind, I think I got a good enough one. 27.6

Anyone help? I can't seem to find one. I usually use the videos but now there isn't one..

I promise that if someone provides a strat I'll make a decent vid for the site. Any takers?

« on: December 27, 2007, 03:42:11 am »
I can't seem to find a video of city escape mission 3. My best time is 1:40.xx and I feel it's strong enough as to where there must be a different strategy that I don't know of to yield a 1:14.

Appreciated for help, thanks.

I'll be joining here as soon as I can get my submissions respectable, but I've got a question I can't seem to figure out - what defines "freestyle" on SA2B? I can't seem to figure it out, and I'm sorry if it's obvious.

Hi, I'm trying to get 194 rings at metal harbor, and I was wondering, what exactly is a spindash jump and how do you perform it?

thanks,

Jacob

Hiya Folks / I'm New Here.
« on: July 24, 2006, 03:02:36 am »
I may be new here, but I have been hovering around sites associated with the speed run/high scores area for a while, and since I have been playing sa2b and sth for a very long time, expect some times there.
I have a question after reading the competition rules, but I ma not sure that this is the right place to ask.
In teh competition rules it says that repetitve tasks in city escape, lost colony , etc can lead to very high scores.and my question is, what are these repetitive tasks? thank you for reading this, and I llok ofrward to some friendly competition.

Jacob
