Beef / Re: The direction of TSC

I think requiring proof is fine for top stats. In the case for videos, however, I don't think they should be made public. I know I'd be annoyed if I had discovered a new top strategy and was forced to sort of "reveal my secret" to the rest of my competitors.

It's too bad I couldn't care less about any Sonic game released after 1994, or this might actually serve some purpose.

I always forget about Mafia. It almost...sorta...came back. :\

Also:
* ":)" shows satisfaction with the current state of affairs, making it a display of weakness. To keep The Sonic Center's name strong and to let other sites know that we are not to be messed with, all ":)"s must be met with an equal or greater number of ":(".

I preferred the old censored version :(

Extended the existing ending with some clarification as to what was actually going on. The Leviathan DLC is also pretty essential to the plot, so much so that it should never have been DLC.

5
The problem wasn't that it was inconclusive or unclear, it was that it thematically undermines the prevailing themes of the entire trilogy. They'd have had to complete re-write it to fix it.

6
The gameplay in ME3 is infintely better than ME2, and the story is great up until it throws the previous 99.9% of the entire trilogy out the window in the last 5 minutes >_>

7
I wasn't actually referring to you, Werey. Btw you need to get Mass Effect 3 because 1. It's awesome, 2. So we can play MP.

8
Hmm...I should start adding TSCers on XBL. I need some people who play shit other than CoD and Halo -_-

The Kingdom Valley demo that was released a couple months before the game came out doesn't even play the same way the final does because the demo is from a later build than the final (wtf).

Seriously? Maybe that's why I found the demo tolerable, even enjoyable enough to buy the game back when it first came out...

I just finished Black Tower and my Shiny Garchomp is up to level 64 already (love the EXP scaling in this game...). Just spent 10 Green Shards to teach it Outrage, rounding out its moveset of Swords Dance, Earthquake, Stone Edge, and now Outrage.

Currently trying to get my hands on a Conkeldurr with Mach Punch, but I can't find one or anything that learns Mach Punch to breed into it. The requests for Hitmonchan trades on the GTS are ridiculous (A level 1-9 Hydreigon? Ok), and I haven't seen any of the Infernape family so I can't search for them :\

Any help would be appreciated.

I get moderately interested in competing again, only to try it for 20 minutes and be over it for the next year.

Hmm... I want to be Bane, but probably won't do anything for Halloween this year because I'm not at school.

We allow almost everything else, why not just allow Super in the standard charts. Saves space, and keeps top S2/3 players from getting essentially free sitewide points.

I don't see super forms as being game-breaking or anything.

Does that mean the system can be gamed and you can (albeit slowly) advance to the #1 rank purely by playing a piss easy level like EH1 over and over?

I think adjusting points based on the skill of your opponent prevents that.

I wish I knew how to TA S3K, because I love it and would like to be a part of this. However, I don't, so my vote has to go for #4.

As for the 23/7 concept, I think that relying on full runs for significant point swings is a bad idea. A lot of people aren't going to want to sit down and replay games in their entirety a number of times. Unless each game is only going to be played once (which doesn't sound like the case and is a terrible idea anyway) people are going to be replaying games, and it's going to get repetitive and tiresome.

I think that the standard for points should be something like one full zone (all acts), and be able to break it into individual acts, multiple zones, or for a large number of points, the full game.

Also maybe something like posting "challenges"? For example, posting an entire run and allowing people to try to beat the time, or total score or number of rings or whatever. Obviously working out the scoring would be the issue there, and posting challenges of single acts is rather pointless since that's already the purpose of the charts. That way, the competition can more easily by "24/7" by not requiring both parties to participate simultaneously. Maybe integrating the league in such a fashion? Just an idea.

I think the "always on" nature of the 247 concept is on the right path; it's technologically relevant in this day of "always on" connectivity. I do believe that it emphasizes the leaderboards, still, and won't really help actually change anything in practice.

I think Umbreon has the right idea here. How do we get people to become a part of the community instead of just posting stats and leaving? I don't quite think the 247 will do that alone, though possibly in conjunction with something else.

We need to look at what makes things like Facebook and Twitter popular. Twitter is strictly a social scene, no games or anything (and Facebook games are terrible, yet played by sometimes hundreds of millions of people), and it manages to be hugely popular. Why? How do we get people to stick around and become social like Twitter and Facebook do?

Leave it to the man behind it all to come up with the ideas.

All in all though, I agree. I've always felt that the core of TSC was the community, not the competition. Hell, that's why I've stayed around (and why I came back). It seems to be the one thing we have that other competition websites don't have, and I think that sets us apart.

I think that the stream was the first step, or the first glimpse at the future of TSC. I'm also happy to see the return of Epic Mafia; I don't even bother playing usually unless other TSCers are playing.

We will always be "The Sonic Center," but maybe that's not all we have to be? I think we are a community of gamers and competitors alike, and I think we should embrace that in it's entirety, even if it means branching out from Sonic a bit.

Oh shit I forgot about this topic!

Yeah... TRC was the worst vig I've ever seen, I think. Also I got to thinking that I could have done a better job convincing Lucky you were maf. I never really suspected him when it was down to the three of us. He seemed...harmless, I suppose. We suspected each other, so if he were maf he would have just sided with one of us and that would have been that.

With that in mind, I should have convinced him that you only suspected me because I suspected you first, that if you suspected him you were painting yourself into a corner because you knew I was going to vote you. If you voted him and I voted you, he would then have to vote you or there would be no lynch and maf would win.

I don't think he would have been able to figure out the fairly obvious flaw in that line of reasoning.

I'm not sure if I'm in any shape to race yet, but streaming the races sounds like it would be an instant success. And I see no reason why we couldn't have a race leaderboard too.

Lmao. "Power frisbees to inflict damage." That is awesome haha.

Dragon/Ghost Koffing? Win.

This...is awesome. Makes for some very interesting scenarios, and some great typing too.
