Information Kiosk / TSC API?
« on: April 20, 2016, 03:32:04 pm »
Is there some sort of API, either official or user-made, that can do several things on the site such as getting and posting statistics?

I want to make a stream tool thingy for ILers that automatically gets and displays the user's stat, the user's position, the best stat (if the user is not already first) and the stat immediately above the user's (if the user is not in first or second). This way, if the user is streaming live, viewers don't need to ask dumb questions like "wats da WR?"

If an API for TSC does not exist, I might actually try my hands at writing that, too.

Rules Revisions / SCDS Score: Time Over clause
« on: December 20, 2015, 08:23:54 am »
Score charts without Time Over can be potentially broken. For example, I left my DS on overnight on Sweet Mountain 1 so that Sonic would continually collect the same respawning Wisp for 10 hours. This yielded a ridiculous score in the 500,000s (mod 1 million; there's only 6 digits in the score display). To prevent things like this happening, Time Over should be a requirement for Score charts like it already is on Ring charts.

I'll revert my scores as soon as a Time Over clause gets added.

This kind of grinding strategy is potentially possible in:
All main stages except TR1 and TR2 (respawning wisps)
All main bosses (only a hit to their weak spot will kill them, so you can keep getting non-fatal hits)
Terminal Velocity/Nega-Wisp Armor (just keep hitting him in the drill phase; perhaps the least time-consuming one)

Fot all Score charts there should at least be a Time Over requirement.

This boss will break the Total rankings for Score and tbh shouldn't have a chart in tne first place.

Theoretically, the max is 999,990.

Given that I do not have an extra cart, time attacking these is very tedious and irritating....
If I did have one I would be more willing to do so
You don't need 2 carts, just 2 systems (download play)

Competition Central / Colors (DS) versus mode stages?
« on: October 27, 2015, 08:55:52 pm »
Any SCDS players here? No? Well I guess I'll just pretend there are.

You know that Versus Mode thingy? If the old Nintendo Wi-Fi were still up, I could collect Friend Codes and destroy you all. But nope, I guess I'm stuck playing against the COM. (I got over 1000 wins back when I was still addicted to this mode.)

More recently, however, I had the idea of doing single-player speedruns of these stages, now that I have a 3DS alongside my old DS. I simply set up a second player to be idle and started running.

These stages are very different from the main stages in the game. They are shorter, for one, and there are a lot more platforming sections. One act in each zone is also a multi-lap stage.

If anyone who is good at this game wants to join, be my guest. The only rules I can think of are 1. You may have an idle second player on another system, and 2. You may not use items, specifically Boost Steal and Wisp Steal.

Here are my times. Any stages not mentioned in the changelog below I spent very little time on one afternoon and can probably be improved by a couple seconds at the very least.

Tropical Resort 1: 27.97
Tropical Resort 2: 40.35
Tropical Resort 3: 28.03
Sweet Mountain 1: 35.91
Sweet Mountain 2: 38.43
Sweet Mountain 3: 1:05.94
Starlight Carnival 1: 40.08
Starlight Carnival 2: 41.99
Starlight Carnival 3: 1:13.16
Planet Wisp 1: 39.35
Planet Wisp 2: 51.05
Planet Wisp 3: 50.16
Aquarium Park 1: 44.33
Aquarium Park 2: 1:04.25
Aquarium Park 3: 52.74
Asteroid Coaster 1: 48.66
Asteroid Coaster 2: 50.65
Asteroid Coaster 3: 51.64

I'll update these times whenever I feel like doing this again.

[11/01] TR1, TR2, TR3, SM2, SC1.

Oh, I didn't know there were similar glitches in other games that were allowed. Fair enough.

In the missions Planet Wisp 3 and Asteroid Coaster 1, Sonic must collect 5 wisps that appear one after another throughout the stage.

After getting the 5th wisp, the timer keeps going after the screen begins to fade to white. However, if the player pauses the frame they collect the 5th wisp, the screen will fade to white but the timer will stop as the game is paused. This saves some .5 of a second. Seeing as the reset glitch, which also involves pausing just as the stage is cleared, is banned in the rules, this should be banned as well.

Is there a way to remove the score from the chart or did I just plague it, forever? :(

Mmkay guys (oh my god autocorrect keeps turning that into "my guys" ???) I'll stop for now, maybe asking Gerbil in the future

although it is a bit difficult to see if exploits actually work without testing them

you can go ahead and do whatever you want with the acc then

I started a white-hat exploiter account and I'm just using him to find really easy exploits in the TSC website, and I want to know if I should be doing this or not? Does it do more harm than good for the website?

Really wanted some competition for NSMBDS. But guess not.

(Unless my brother joins of course, he has the #1 run of 4 Castle)

Also, hi.

Is it OK if I log in to another account to submit records for them (e.g. a friend who lacks their own computer, or a younger brother with parental controls) so long as the records were obtained by them and them alone?
