So I feel like there is not much left for me to do here. The competition is dead, the chatroom is dull, and none of the people who used to make this place so interesting seem to talk anymore.

But before I leave for good, I want to try something. Remember the time when we all got around to playing mafia together? That was one of the few times in recent memory where TSC actually felt like a cohesive community.

I want to pay tribute to this site. Let's see if we can get a bunch of people (at least 12 to make the game long enough to be worthwhile) and make a mafia game based on this site and its users. Roles will be designed around various people, and I will supply my own () flavor to the whole ordeal. I want to see this site surrender with some dignity.

So who here is with me?

I've been crawling for quite a while now, at least a few months. I'm not that good, but I try. Current high score is 1898, on a Sludge Elf Transmuter.

Annoying things:

* Ijyb (the easiest unique encounter in the game) randomly being spawned with a wand of disintegration
* The mere existence of two-headed ogres (they can cast TWO spells every turn, seriously?)
* Blink frogs. (Prince Ribbit himself is a dick.)
* Those little fountains of sparkling water that are always spawned be hind a wall of translucent rock.

Reality / TSC
What's the coolest screen name you've seen on the Internet that isn't yours?

Names are things that just slip out of my mind unless I know the person. Keeping it within TSC, probably SadisticMystic, who also happened to inspire my own screenname.

What's the best dream you remember? (I know there's a topic for this, you can link a post of yours if need be).

I don't remember dreams, generally, and the ones I do tend to not be fleshed-out enough to be worth remembering.

Who do you talk to / hang with most on TSC?

A lot of people. Stefan, genus, PPA, MK, AD, Thorn, SJ, Quartz... I could go on for longer. They're all great people.

TSC Furries: Poisoning the site, bringing smiles and happiness to the site, or just more users?

I'm ambivalent. I suppose I've gotten used to them over time, but bits and pieces still irk me. They're not bad people, but at the same time their mannerisms have always annoyed me. They've blended in there by now.

What do you think about these TSC fads:
* iSketch

Love it, wish it was more played.

* Mafia

I would like this more if I wasn't total shit at it. Taught me that I know absolutely nothing about strategy and mindgames.

* SRB2

Terrible, terrible fangame, and I'm not even touching the community.

* Toulouse

Great game. Another thing I wish was played more often.

Does Sonic Team has one foot in the grave, both feet in the grave, or is it rising from the grave as an undead? Or *gulp* is it wising fwom its gwave as some sort of Altered Beast? *shot*

It's dead. I visit GHZ enough to have seen the most recent press releases. They're disgusting. They've basically admitted themselves as shovelware and the marketing crew isn't even putting up a fight anymore.

The fandom will always survive, though; half-furries, half fangame creators/people like us who put a bizarre amount of time into these games.

Hypotheticals
Cooler power-up to own: Super Leaf or Fire Flower?

Super Leaf. Flight is pretty much the one thing I'd always want to do.

For those of you with a "fursona", or for those just answering for the lulz: your species, gender, and color are...? (I had to do it, sorry... I'm not appealing to a minority with this one anymore~)

Although I'm not really into the concept of RPing as an alter ego of mine, I suppose I could try and outline that sort of thing:

A bird of some sort, either a garuda-esque entity or a non-anthromorphic one.

If I had to choose a specific species I'd probably wind up with a raven, more for the fact that they're damn clever than that they're associated with death.

Cooler height to be for a day: 1cm (0.4") or 50m (164'), Square-Cube Law be damned?

50m.

Coolest Sonic-game body to inhabit?

Because everyone has near Sonic-level speed anyway, Blaze for added pyrokinesis.

Coolest non-legendary Pokémon to be?

Ninjask. Sure, it can't breathe fire, but flying that fast would be fucking exhilirating.

Coolest Halloween monster to be? (Use traditional definitions, not Twilight definitions)

A ghost would be awesome. It's like noclip, only in real life! Werewolves would be cool if the transformation wasn't universally considered to be incredibly painful. Nothx.

Coolest video game to play the main character's role in?

Pokemon, probably. Mirror's Edge is a great idea, though.

Coolest TSCer to trade lives with for a day?

Many people say Selphos, but it doesn't interest me. I'd probably pick Aitamen, as he seems like the person I'd learn the most about and be better able to sympathize with by switching. I don't really want to screw around, I want a new perspective. That said, I fear what Aitamen would accomplish in my life if given a day in my body.

> inventory

You inventory contains:
- your wallet ($76.02), a mechanical pencil, a paperclip, and pocket lint. They were in your pocket before you came to the convention; you had forgotten to discard all but the wallet.
- To Kill a Mockingbird, your required summer reading for school. God, why does school always have to choose books about racism...
- all of the masks from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, which you won for being the 10000th person to purchase the game on Virtual Console. They totally work! Maybe.
- a Sound Stone with sixteen melodies (Queen Mary's Song + Smiles and Tears), for saving the world from the evil Giygas... twice.
- a diorama of Medusa that you created for your class on Ancient Religion and Mythology. It's rather well made.

*You turn to stone, having looked at that last one*

>speed dial random TSC'er

You enter the phone booth and end up calling DsS. You wonder what the purpose of the call is, seeing as he is at the convention. Before you can think of a reason, a bullet whizzes through your skull; Quartz is nearby and had heard DsS's voice coming from the phone booth, causing him to instinctively shoot in your direction. Of course, all shots aimed at anybody rebound at DsS per TSC law, so Quartz hits his target. Luckily for him, you're too much of a nobody for anybody to notice your death, so he gets off scot free.

*You spend the rest of time as a corpse in a phone booth*

Wikkity! / Re: ITT PPA realises the world is absurd
« on: June 01, 2009, 01:56:52 pm »
I think that this dilemma arises because you are a naturally obsessive person, and are always looking for a simple and pervasive ideology in life.

Learn to live with yourself. You take every single negative or positive comment entirely too seriously, and it affects how others view you. Wanting something is not necessarily bad, it is just letting the want take you over. Find more people to talk to and things to do, and you'll find that you'll obsess less over individual matters.

Great, Sonic Drift 3. The GHZ stage looks also terribly lame, it's a random generic island with some chequerboard patterns applies to some surfaces and a loop or two. Where are the funky geometric flowers, the flat, pseudo-3D palm trees and the pixellated backgrounds? Oh wait, I forgot Sonic stopped being surreal and abstract after S1, SCD and KC.

That said, why no Sonic R 2? :(

I like the bassline, it's neat and atmospheric. But the song drags on a whole lot, and doesn't really feel like it has any sense of dynamics. The original of the song is worse in that respect though, so I guess that's some consolation.

It also, oddly enough, reminds me of the song I'm going to link.
Actually, I listen to it again and don't know what I was thinking.

I should probably listen to the lyrics for each side, but it's so much more interesting to listen to with both at once. You were talking about this, and it's definitely an interesting concept, but that piano part feels so weird compared to the rest of the song.

My Dad vs. Yours - Habla Paisano

Although there's no youtube version of the song, it is downloadable/streamable for free on last.fm.

That song's nice for the genre, but it is definitely not my style in general, particularly when looking at their other songs.

Experimental prog generally makes me want to vomit. This one didn't, so a point for that!

Hrm. Now I have to get a song...

It's cool. The solo's nice and the chorus is pretty catchy, but it doesn't really have anything that immediately resonates with me.
Maybe the lyrics would make up for it, I don't know.

WingedInsignia is the same sort of cadence that SadisticMystic has. I'm not sure if I realized it at the time, but that was probably my motive.

RPG
Spinny (Maybe)
Doug
SJ
FKE (Maybe)
Mike
Aita
Thorn
Werster
Sondow
Eredani (Probably)
Miles
Crowbar
Fuzzerd (Probably)
Cruizer
Achlys
Yoshifan (Maybe)
SonicAD

Likely finishing order:

--Mike: SS experience puts him on top here. Even though he's not the best in any of the games (Miles in S1, Aita/Eredani in S2, and werster in S3&K), he's certainly the most consistent.

--Werster: He's something of a loose cannon. He's possibly the most skilled player on the list, but he's also a risk-taker, which could wind up biting him in the ass later with a game over. He'll either medal or drop out during S3&K.

--RPG: Inconsistent, but definitely a major contender. He has something of a repetitive death syndrome, so if he starts screwing up a boss keep on the watch for a crash.

--Thorn: As the rear guard, Thorn will probably be looking for mistakes from the front of the pack. He takes it relatively slowly, but he's the one competitor I will bestow the honor of "Most Likely to Finish", so keep a close eye on him.

--Fuzz: Good player all around. Doesn't quite have Thorn's consistency though, so we'll see on that front.

--Eredani: I don't really know what to expect here. From my experience, he's like SM: very good when he chooses to practice a level, but not so good when it comes to the sort of playing I'd expect to see during a marathon.

--Douglas/SJ: They're definitely competent enough 2D players, so I foresee them being midway between the leaders and the average player.

--Achlys: I'm a good player in certain areas, but have absolutely no TA'ing skill in some others. For me, it really depends on how S2 plays out. I may be overestimating my abilities here.

--SonicAD/Spinballwizard: They'll finish, but slower than most. I definitely see a chance for them, though, if Death Egg or another problem level winds up being bloodier than anticipated.

And for the rest...

Miles
Aitamen
yoshifan
Crowbar
CrUiZ3R/Sondow/FKE

This turned out to be a Knuckles race.

SUMMARY:

AIZ goes as planned, with everyone neck and neck, me in front.

HC1 looks to go the same way, but RPG actually GAME OVERS there. Everyone fails at HC2 but me, and I head into Marble Garden while most people are barely halfway through the stage (the lone exception is DsS, who is still a good 30 seconds behind me).

Marble Garden 1 goes as planned, but the first real trainwreck of my run comes up in MG2. I attempt to preform the zip over the top of the level, but fail once, and although I succeed the next time, get killed by a drill from the boss. During this time, AD throws in the towel, having just finished HC2. Somehow, SBW, DsS, and I all line up going into CN1.

I outdistance them both over CN and IC, but LB1's boss kills me 6 FUCKING TIMES and we line up again going into LB2, where SBW loses his last life.

Surprisingly, DsS and I keep even for MH, but in FB and beyond shit gets real and I wind up like five minutes ahead. I go into SS with 2 lives.

I then gameover, and DsS remains the only one who crosses the damn finish line.

EDIT: .giz attached.
