Title: Why cant I summit sonic R records?
Post by: creamy on August 21, 2004, 12:39:43 pm
For some strange reason I cant submit any of my times for sonic R
when I try to submit them it just says

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND e.creation='SUBMIT' GROUP BY e.class ORDER BY l.level_order

does anyone know what this means?  <_<

I think I've got it.

What's the one thing Sonic R, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Drift all have in common?

The lack of a division 0.

Maybe the current code requires that the game have a division 0 in order to accept submissions.

I had a think about this and couldn't you solve this problem for Sonic Drift 1 & 2 and Sonic R by adding another division, even if noone submits for it.

You could use Rings for all of them, just see how many Rings you can finish the race with, although with Sonic R that'd have to be at the end of a 3 lap race.

I had a second idea for Sonic R for an extra division.

Make them into 'Grand Prix' and 'Time Attack'

Grand Prix mode is when you can collect Rings in the races, and you'd post fastest Lap times and Course Records.

Time Attack mode has no Rings, but it does have a mirrored track option, as well as Balloons and Tag.

I dunno if anyone else'll think thats a good idea but thats just my 2 cents.

Rings wouldn't fix the problem since that's division 9, not 0.

I was thinking maybe a Time Division could be added for Sonic Battle but i don't know if that is Division 0, so what is this division?

Um... there shouldn't be ANY category 0s anymore. o.o; I upped them all by one... unless you mean what it really refers to as divisions.

sonicam, what levels/divs should be in a Sonic Battle time category? I don't know.

Just the Battle Time. In Challenge Mode, after each Battle, you are given a results screen, and in the results screen there is a time record that tells you how long you took to finish the battle. I was thinking, you could divide the Time Division for each individual Character, with each of thier three Difficulty Levels and in each difficulty level, you would have each of the 5 battles. Here is an example since i know that was pretty confusing:

Character: Sonic: Total Time for Sonic's Level 1-3(it doesn't give you a time on the Challenge Mode character select, nor is there any place in the Records to be shown, this would just be calculated like all the other games calculate it's Time Attack records combined for a particular character)

Level 1: Total Time would be calculated here, like it is done with most Time Attack games(Total Time for Sonic's Level 1)(again, it isn't shown anywhere, it will just be a calculation of all the Battle Times for Level 1)

Battle 1: 1:02
Battle 2: 3:59
Battle 3: 1:08
Battle 4: 3:35
Battle 5: 2:30

These Times aren't shown anywhere, except after the battle is finished, you have to record the time somewhere in order to compete.

Level 2
Battle 1: 1:30
Battle 2: 1:38
Battle 3: 2:09
Battle 4: 4:09
Battle 5: 1:57

Level 3
Battle 1: 1:56
Battle 2: 2:40
Battle 3: 2:09
Battle 4: 2:02
Battle 5: 5:04

You'd do the same thing for all the other characters. This is maybe alot, but still, i'd be cool to compete for time in Sonic Battle.

Rolken, if that was overly confusing(i tend to make simple things more difficult), please tell me, and sorry in advance if it is.

OK, I finally tracked down and fixed this problem. It had to do with the HTML and PHP not passing data to each other that they should've. Sorry, guys. :P

Thanx Rolken!

Also, what do you think of the Time Division idea for Sonic Battle, Rolken?
