Title: Sonic Lost World 3DS Charts (Spoilers)
Post by: TimpZ on October 29, 2013, 01:24:00 pm
The 3DS version is quite different fom the Wii U one so I was recommended to create a new topic for it.

Anyway, Sonic Lost World 3DS have 4 modes of playing the game:

"Play game"
Basically story mode. Saves your best time, score, red rings and rank. Lets you use items and RC stuff. This mode lets you use super sonic I'm pretty sure (haven't unlocked him personally).

"VS mode"
Lets you play through stages and special stages. Doesn't save scores other than ranking. Also has a battle mode where you collect rings.

"Time attack"
Only saves your time, doesn't allow items/RC. I think colours are unlocked based on your progress in the main game.

"Hard"
Available in main game and time attack, has separate charts but I don't think there's any major changes other than you only having 1 ring throughout the stage.

Small stuff:
Checkpoints don't reset your time. Timer goes down instead of up in story mode or whatever. You can't submit your time from story mode to the leaderboards which also means the WH tutorial stage can't be submitted. Lava mountain is basically "Boss rush zone" so I don't think anything other than times would be meaningful to track

Trackable stats:
Time attack
Standard time attack done from the time attack mode. Would restrict using RC's, super etc. Also excludes the tutorial stage

Score
Tracked in the main game only. Would allow RC's, items and possibly super if you go by the score that's saved.

Rings
Normal ring attack, could be done without restrictions I guess. Have to be decided upon.

Super
I personally dislike this as you basically just go faster. We'll have to see if the IL's become different enough. Decreases rings etc so I think it would only be useful for time attacks.

Hard
Dumb... But it is tracked on the official leaderboards.

Yeah, but I don't know if it's going to have the Super Sonic in Wii U charts.
Edit: I made a different comment before. Redone for avoiding bad comments.

While I don't have everything unlocked yet, I know for a fact that these charts are still very incomplete. I've found differences in some (but not all) Hard layouts beyond the lack of rings, and I know that there are Extra stages not mentioned here. There are also rings in some Hard stages beyond the one you get to start with. We've got much more digging to do before we can add charts.

First off I think supersonic warrants its own chart for each level, you can go sinificantly faster with supersonic, maybe even bosses too but that needs looking into as there may not even be enough rings in all the bosses for that.

Also I think that times for special stages and normal levels/bosses have to be done on time attack, because in times you could  use RCs to go faster, and others may use time attack for the leaderboards, so a rule saying time attack has to be used would be appropriate.

Also ring attacks should be done on time attack mode too imo, because certain RCs and items can be equiped to get more rings, which could just make the charts very complicated.

Maybe animals could be a chart too, but there are certain badniks that respawn so unlimited animals may be possible, if that the case then an unlimited score could be achievable, so its probably best not to have animal charts, and to disallow score attacking in time attack mode, becasue in story mode theres a time limit meaning you cant rack up an unlmited score.

Also hard mode should probably have its own time chart, and maybe (as thorn has mentioned) its own ring and score charts, but this'll need looking into, maybe not even be added because of reasons mentioned above (RCs etc)

No doubt more to be delved into before these charts are ready to be added.

here is a few things missed
1. special stages have score and time is a SECOND.MILISECOND format (eg. my special stage 1 has 164.96)
2. all bosses have scores
3. hard mode, while yes, gives you 1 ring, there ARE hidden rings once in a while, AND there are more enemies and sometimes level layout changes
4. times are same as generations, going XX:XX.XX and score goes as 6 digits (eg. 096550)
5. if a person dies a bunch of times (although i doubt it will make much of a time difference) a gold RC will appear, giving them a helping hand, it may make them faster or slower depending on the stage.
6.the 3DS version doesnt keep track of animals like the Wii U version does (to clear up stuff i have been hearing)
7. i dont really have another piece of info (YET) i just felt like putting 7 points

there would be no point adding score and time charts for special, because the faster the time the higher the score, meaning that if you got the time record you'd have the time record, menaing there's no point to the charts for score.
I dont think bosses should have score charts to be honest, i suppose a score attack of a boss would just be the fastest time with as many rings as possible, also sky road boss has unlimitd rings, whther or not that means anything in the grand scheme of things i dont know, just worth noting.
In time attack mode RCs dont appear, no matter how many times you die nor can you equip them or any other items, this means that ring attacking and time attacking should be done in time attack mode, ( although i think ive already mentioned that in a previous post).
Probably best to do the same as the wii u version and not have animal charts (although the 3ds version does track animals, at the end of each level it shows your animal total for that level), mainly because of respawning robots and deaths allowing potenital unlimited animals.

well, so it does... i just cant see why it wouldn't show how many animals you got on the stage select screen...

Chart discussion here seems to have gone dead, so allow me to revise TimpZ's charts. I have not checked for infinite rings/scores in any stages, but am simply adding missing elements to his draft and changing some categories.

With the exception of Special Stages, all charts have Normal and Hard divisions. To be consistent with the Wii U version's charts, Super Sonic is not being tracked separately.

Windy Hill:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Desert Ruins:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Tropical Coast:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Frozen Factory:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Silent Forest:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Sky Road:
Act 1: Times, Rings, Score
Act 2: Times, Rings, Score
Act 3: Times, Rings, Score
Extra: Times, Rings, Score
Boss: Bosses

Lava Mountain:
Act 1: Bosses
Act 2: Bosses
Act 3: Bosses
Extra: Bosses
Boss: Bosses

Special Stages (tracked in Times format):
Special Stage 1: Special
Special Stage 2: Special
Special Stage 3: Special
Special Stage 4: Special
Special Stage 5: Special
Special Stage 6: Special
Special Stage 7: Special

why are the special stages tracked in score format? wont you enter your time where higher equals better? because time attack mode doesnt give a score

Ah, that's right, this is the first DIMPS game that allows Special Stages in Time Attack mode. Changed.

as mentioned before (maybe not here, but still) lava mountain is basically boss attack, so i don't think there is an extra stage for it because there is no red rings (although i could be wrong and maybe there is one when you get ALL of the red rings, but im not sure yet (almost got them all though))

The extra stage exists. I'm not sure why you think I'd just be guessing at its existence.

by collecting every red ring in the game you unlock lava mountain's extra stage, as thorn is aware of and thats why he added that stage

Title: Re: Sonic Lost World 3DS Charts (Spoilers)
Post by: SB737 on November 10, 2013, 02:29:35 pm
ok i think there's no more to be discovered in this game, ive had a go at ring attacking, and found no max ring tricks (unless you use an RC, so they need to be banned), and ive had a go at score attacking and a score attack is basially a speed run, the time bonus is so influential, that stopping to collect rings and wasting a few seconds doesnt really help with score (thats basically just a tip, getting a wr time will probably get you the score record, unless there's a 50 ring box worth collecting),

So anyway, I think the charts are ready to go up :)

sounds good!

EDIT: does it really take this long to make charts? thought it would have been done fester than this.

Are RCs just for co-op like in the Wii U version? If so, we've already got a general rule against them.

I'll let Thorn handle these charts since he's a more familiar with the game than I am.

no they are almost like vehicles (for certain RCs others shoot things or collect rings) but they cannot be controlled by another player.

Parax, there is no co-op in the 3DS version, as you would logically expect. RC vehicles are helpers that can be selected before entering levels or obtained by dying too much in a single level. They only appear in normal play and not in Time Attack, but iirc you said in IRC that we should allow normal play; thus, we need to make a rule about them.

actually, i wonder if the demo is any different than the final stage? might be something to look into...

they should be the same stages since you can send your saved data from the demo to your full game.
it wouldn't make sense that the stages were different in any way.

the game tracks special stages as time, however only in seconds, not in minutes and seconds. tsc only has the minutes and seconds and centiseconds option. so it needs fixing. for example one of my times is 256.13 seconds, also higher = better
