So I am sitting here in the Netherlands with an internet connection that greatly varies in speed, from terribly slow to pretty fast, but regardless of that...
While I can surf and use instant messengers like AIM or MSN (or even Skype, if yet with broken sound sometimes), I am unable to access IRC. I tried it with multiple clients like mIRC, Trillian, and even the site's plugin but I keep getting errors. :(
The former says something about being "Unable to connect to server (Socket operation on non-socket)" and Trillian gets an error code 0. Does anyone know what I could do, or so I just have to stay off any channel until I am back home?

Your ISP may be blocking it somehow. I find that net-based clients like mibbit get around this.

Nope, I already tried the site's clients and they all failed. :(
