Title: Sonic 06 rule additions [resolved]
Post by: Groudon on November 24, 2008, 07:51:39 pm
I srsly wonder why nothing has been done by any mod to give any type of feedback on the S06 issues brought up since April (even though mike posted in one of the topics, nothing was actually done).  First off, the issues themselves.

Free roam:  A consensus was never reached on this issue, but I feel that a full ban of free roam would be appropriate.
Repeating town missions:  No-brainer for this.  Full ban.
Radical Train infinite points:  Posted in a topic separate from the above, a rule was thought up almost immediately and nothing was done.  Full ban on the exploit.

mike posted a quick sentence regarding the infinite-point thing.

Basically, you can keep going through the ring over and over again for point scalping.

Well, point scalping is never allowed. A bit of common sense is in order.

What about for those that lack common sense?

Anyway, here are the rules themselves.

Score Divisions
In a town mission, you may not earn any points when the mission is not loaded.
In a town mission, you may not complete the objective more than once in the same run.
You may not pass through a trick ring more than once.

Rings Divisions
When playing a town mission, you may not complete the objective more than once in the same run.

Any mod want to add the above rules?  Any user want to better word any of the rules?

Clearly referring to yourself there.

I mean seriously what. I am not making a rule without a clear consensus. Or an admin with common sense and knowledge of the game (the key point here) takes it upon themselves.

Unrelatedly, I think the time has come for another admin. One that's actually motivated to work on the site.

Even though i don't play S06, this seems pretty right. From what heard these rules make it better or it can make it worse. :p

*iceman runs (Iceman does alot of running espcially in Marathons

I'm in support of free roam being completely banned. Anyone disagree?

Possible rewordings of the first rule:

Quote
In a town mission, you may not earn any points while the timer isn't ticking.
In a town mission, you may not earn any points when the mission is not loaded.

The others sound good.

I too want to see free roam being banned.  Its just plain wrong. I like the possible rewordings of the rules in Paraxade's post.

I mean seriously what. I am not making a rule without a clear consensus.

After re-reading the original topic, I found that only 3 people gave their opinions on what they want to do with Free Roam, and all 3 of them want it banned.

I wish I knew more about this...

Thoughts and prerequisits:

IF there is a timer that gave give you a Time Over
THEN point "scalping" should be allowed

IF there is no timer OR the points given are obscene and can max the counter
THEN the points are indeed infinite, and it should be banned

since I don't know for myself enough about this part of the game, these are how my opinions would stand... count it as a vote for whichever side it fits on... ^_^

That would go under the "ban" side, as this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtkgwxvJR44) shows (the small Sonic and the midair jumps are features of one of the special gems).

Also, only 2 people posted in the topic regarding the infinite score method, and both of them (as well as the original poster) agreed that it should be banned.

That infitnite score trick ring glitch should definately be banned. As you can plainly see you can keep doing that forever if you can screw the camera up (shouldn't be too hard :P).

Ok I remember Mike saying something about a bit of commom sense is in order, true however, it won't stop people still using it. For example they could still do it but stop at a reasonable place and then stop and go back to the end to do the mach speed part. To me that would still be wrong so I really think that the rule about trick ring glitch should be added. Well that is what I think.

Alright, I finally got around to it. I don't even know why I found it so tedious, it only took me a few seconds. I think that might be a sign that the motivation is waning.

maybe if you were sitewide champ you'd have the motivation

There's a time limit on certain town missions, but if you are able to repeat the objective in the same run, the main timer resumes ticking from where it was when you finished the objective before.  The "you-have-this-much-time-left" timer, however, resets to whatever the limit normally is.
