Wow, that does seem like a rather odd and surprising storyline. It is kind of hard to believe, so I am skeptical about it. The only thing to do I guess is to wait, and see what reveals itself in time.

I am shocked that Sonic's current brand manager doesn't even know who Fang is. Tells us a lot about the current state of the franchise.

That the people who work with it today aren't the same as the staff from 15 years ago?
I barely know who Fang/Nack is. I've never played a game or read a comic or seen a cartoon featuring him, my only knowledge of him comes from seeing his name in online forums and the occasional picture of him in webcomics and, again, forums.

They might not be the same folks, but damn if your entire job is to manage the brand I think it's reasonable to expect them to know about it. Mind you, it's been obvious for ages they either don't know or don't care what the brand is and has been; if they did, they wouldn't be as bothered about "innovations" like werehog or new characters or poncy graphics or whatever else - they'd focus on the core gameplay that sold Sonic in the first place.

Ok fair point, it is quite clear that they know nothing about the brand.
But I think my point stands in that Fang/Nack is hardly a part of the brand at all.
