I'd use my username, but seeing that this is post 2nd gen, that'd be confusing somewhat.

Diamond: 1031-7708-7520
Player Name: genus

Current roster (just for the heck of it so we can compare end-of-game lineups):

Level 18 Buizel-Useful to a fault. It's fast with decent attack and somewhat balanced stats. Surely a decent fire/ground counter should a fire/ground type pop up.
Level 19 Luxio-The token electric type. A tad slow, but it's a powerhouse for now. It will probably be ouclassed soon, assuming another electric type can be found.
Level 21 Monferno-An all rounder with outstanding attack. The lackluster defense is disheartening, but Monferno is meant to kill everything as quickly as it can, so it's not a problem.
Level 20 Machop-High attack, and health barely compensate for its lack of defense or speed. Machamp's stat increases are much higher, so it's to be...expected?
Level 19 Alakazam-Its high speed and special attack make it a solid first striker. While the health and defense leave something to be desired, everything else is spot on.
Level 18 Budew-Useless. I'm going to replace it with a Starly for the eventual Starraptor.

I'm going to need to rework my team. Nobody there is durable, so can be beaten by a a defense oriented team. I'll replace one of the above with a Steelix after finding the metal coat. Any idea as to where one might be found?

According to serebii, you can find one attached to some wild Pokemon, like Magnemite or Magneton.  That's all I know about the item's locations in D/P, though.

I might get the game. I have the JP version of Diamond but I suck at it so I might just do something about that. Yes I was that desperate.

I just battled Rolken.Believe it or not, Pokemon is actually decent now.

Up to when I battled him, I was going through the single player mode and having something of a good time, something like the feeling you get knowing no matter what you do you will win. Of course, there's some fun to be had in evolving something or gaining a more powerful move. It makes the opponent's health plummet quickly, which feels good for no real reason. It's monotony, sure, but it's cleverly disguised monotony.

And then I did battle Rolken! Here's an in-depth summary.

Online play is highly tactical, and reminds you that you were just being a chump before and letting your team get by on awesome "the flashing bar goes down by so much" moments. Online opponents switch out Pokemon, and don't offer snappy punchlines to close a battle on. Online opponents talk to you. Online opponents know where you live.

You either use your current levels, a level 50 cap, or a level 100 cap. We choose the level 100 cap. It was a mistake because unevolved pokemon get dwarfed by evolved pokemon they would normally trump. My Alakazam was knocking out other pokemon for no reason. Pokemon it would otherwise never touch. I suggest the level 50 cap; it probably doesn't impose as large a statgap between evolved/unevolved pokemon.

So we started the battle, and tried talking to each other. By which I mean, Rolken tried talking and I barely said anything for fear of being called insane by other people not knowing I'm playing online. The sound quality is poor; it was static-ridden and distorted. At one point, I even heard my pokemon switching out on Rolken's speakers, but that's Rolken's fault for having his speakers on so high and is more about lag than how piss-poor the chat function is. But at least it's there.

Then we started the battle itself, and it was epic. I led with a Buizel, and Rolken came out with a Krickitot. I used swift, and he used...Fury Slash or something similair. Buizel was massacred, with almost no health left. Wanting to get a last strike in, I used Water Gun and Buizel fainted. I'm not sure on Krickitot's stats or Fury Cutter's power, but it seemed like some severe stat bumping was going on.

At this point, I switched to Alakazam. While Fury Cutter would have done massive damage, I confusioned Krickitot, and it fainted.

At this other point here, Rolken brought in his evolvedstarterwhosit, which I countered with a Luxario, which he countered with a geodude, which I countered with an Alakazam. After taking a critical hit from a move, I one hit ko'd the geodude. Stat bumping!

Rolken brought out Starly's level two form. Then I brought out Luxario. Then he switched to Budew for the type advantage. Then I used shock and got its hp down to about 1/5 with an 'it's not very effective' message. After this, I killed it with few problems.

Rolken's next move was to bring out a Luxario of his own. I used Bite, as did Rolken...and I drew the short end of the straw. His Luxario caused mine to flinch. Realizing Luxario was on the verge of fainting, I switched to Machop to counter the inevitable Bite. Machop took little damage. In the hopes of pulling a critical move on Luxario, knowing Machop would likely serve no other purpose in this battle, I used Focus. Rolken hit me with a critical shock before I managed to use Karate Chop. Machop fainted.

Lacking another special attacker with decent health and figuring that Alakazam's speed with a round of confusion would not take down Luxario, I decided to opt for Monferno. They traded blows, and Monferno defeated Luxio, at about half health.

At this point, it was 2 pokemon to 4. Rolken had only starterguy and starlyplus.

He brought in starlyplus, who took down Monferno with a critical hit of quick attack.

I used Luxario to try for the ko. It was defeated by wing attack before it used shock.

Then I tried Starly, who I figured was good for at least two turns. On the first I used double team in the off chance his attacks would miss. On the second, I used quick attack, and he used wing attack. Wing attack did not miss.

With only Alakazam left, neither of us knew what would happen. On the one hand, Alakazam did crazy damage, but on the other its defense sucked and Starlyplus was a heavy attacker. Whoever won this match up would win the battle because his starterguy wasn't in prime condition and Alakazam was faster. Wing attack was used by Starlyplus, and Confusion by Alakazam. Confusion slowly etched away starlyplus' health because of a bit of lag...and left him with 4 hp. I kid you not. Wing attack did just enough damage to get me in the red. Starlyplus used quick attack next turn, and the battle ended.

Sort of makes me wish I used Quick Attack with Starly on that last one. No idea what I was doing there.

Best. Match. Ever.

Damn you all and your wifi and my... not wifi.

I'll just riddle you with my current team of no-time-to-play-ness. (2 Badges.)

Stunky lv15
Bronzor lv16
Budew lv19
Prinplup lv19
Luxio lv19
Murkrow lv20

I just caught Stunky and Bronzor, hence they're slightly lower than the rest. The story behind Murkrow is somewhat entertaining. (Wasted 20 damn pokeballs trying to catch one, among 3 different encounters.)

Also of note (recently boxed due to other interesting catchings):
Staravia lv19
Onix lv17
Geodude lv19

Rumor has it that we may be getting wireless over the summer (dependent, of course, on my "research" on how to avoid so-called "drive-bys"), so maybe I can join in the fun then.

Btw I tried setting up Wifi on his DS this evening. It didn't work, although I see no reason it shouldn't work. Is DS wifi supposed to be this finicky?

I got their router up so I just punched in the same settings into the DS, but no good.

I was thinking of getting a PS3 with wifi connection, so I hope that will work better and it's just the DS being stupid.

btw

these the trainers?

New post alert~

I just fought Groudon, yegads

RPG VS Groudon

Unown D Vs Empoleon

Empoleon used Surf.
Unown died.

RPG sends out Alakzam

Alakazam used Focus Blast, Empleon down to a tiny bit of red.
Surf kills Zam.

RPG sends out Staraptor

Intimidate cuts Empoleons attack

Close Combat finishes Empleon.

Groudon sends out Dialga.

Staraptor Close Combats it down to 30% HP.
Dialga Ancientpowers for a kill.

RPG sends out Luxray, Intimidate cuts Dialgas attack.

Luxray Thunder Fangs, Dialga flinches.
Luxray Thunder Fangs, Dialga is almost down.
Dialga Ancientpowers, Luxray is down to a third HP.
Thunder Fang finishes Dialga.

Groudon sends out Golem.

Luxray crunches, and takes 25% HP, Golem Magnitudes (9) and kills.

RPG Sends out Manaphy (<3)

Surf scores an easy kill

Groudon sends out Pachirisu

Manaphy surfs, and deals just over half damage.
Pachirisu shock waves for around a quarter damage.
Pachirisu Quick Attacks and deals a little damage.
Manaphy surfs and leaves it barely alive.
Another quick attack and Pachirisu is downed by Surf

Groudon sends out Starly.

Which is downed in a single surf. Manaphy enjoys its HP regain from Shell Bell.

Groudon sends out Geodude. I think you can guess how that ended <_<

Why yes, I switched to Torterra and Wood Hammer'd for kicks.

End result:

RPG - 2 0 - Groudon

Groudon dominated the fight up until I downed his Dialga, then it was a 1 sided game.

On the note of that...

I battled s&a earlier.  I expected it to be easy.  And I was right.

He started with a level 20-something Pikachu (nicknamed KikAssAchu).  I started with my level 70 Giratina (a legendary).  I used Shadow Force, where Giratina vanished.  Next turn, it attacked (and, even if the foe uses Protect or Detect, the attack can't be avoided).  Easy KO.

Next was his level 47 Palkia.  However, he named it my username Groudon199.  He got cocky, since I could hear him over voice chat.  I chose to have some fun, so I switched to Heatran, a legendary I caught earlier (still at level 70).  I used a few Scary Faces, while he used some attacks I can't remember.  I chose to end it by switching to my level 76 Empoleon.  He lol'd at it being my strongest.  With its HP low, it confused my Empoleon with Water Pulse.  He lol'd at that.  But I finished it off.  He lol'd at that as well.  To quote him from voice chat and IRC, "groudon 199 fainted".

He then sent out his Infernape (nicked Trace).  Now, I battled him yesterday, and it was at level 47.  In just one day, he leveled it from 47 to 91!  Turns out he was owning the Elite Four many times using only Infernape.  That is just sad.  He crushed my Empoleon with Focus Blast.

It was then time to break out the big guns.  I sent out my Giratina.  Over voice chat, I could hear him telling bertin (who I assume he was talking to, since I heard another voice) he didn't know what to do against it.  He had Infernape wipe it out with Blast Burn.  Barely got it down to 1/3 HP.  s&a was just shocked it wasn't very effective.  Giratina, BTW, is part Dragon-type, so it resists Fire attacks easily.  It countered with Earth Power, which chipped off a third of Infernape's HP.  Because of Blast Burn being so powerful, the user needs to recharge next turn.  I took advantage and Earth Powered it again.  With few options left, he had it try Focus Blast, which is a Fighting-type attack.  Giratina is also part Ghost-type, so it avoids damage from Fighting-type attacks.  s&a was in disbelief at this, and I finished it off with another Earth Power.

He sent out Staravia, his "Damn Bird."  While I attacked with Thunder, he told bertin he couldn't believe Blast Burn was not very effective, and Focus Blast was not effective at all.

Result:

Me - 5
s&a - 0

Also DAMN YOU WIFI. Once I beat the e4 I want to test out my tanking Bronzong set. :(
Though I'll gladly make fun of S&A and not knowing the obvious intricacies of Ghost/Dragon types.

Here's my updated current team though:

Roselia Lv39
Bronzong Lv39
Murkrow Lv39
Luxray Lv39
Empoleon Lv38
Skuntank  Lv38(<3)

Currently training/exploring in Iron Mountain, though I could challenge Canalave Gym any time rly.

FUN FACT!

Go to Jubilife City in the TV station.  Find the guy that asks you about TV.  Tell him "EVERYONE HAPPY" then "WI-FI CONNECTION".  This makes Mystery Gift available.  You can use WFC to get a gift, but I don't know how that works.

edit: NEW INFORMATION :O

It turns out that, supposedly from May 29th on, Nintendo will have certain dates set aside for those who manage to use WFC Mystery Gift and those people that use it on those dates will receive certain items.  Japanese D/P owners will be able to download the item needed to get Darkrai on July 14th to promote the Pokemon movie over there.  This, however, is Japan only.  Nothing officially has been announced for events (that I know of).  So at the moment, the option is useless to everyone.

I remember, waaaaaaaaaay back, they let us in the UK get Mew (I got one rofl), and I know there you could in the US, too. Have similar things been done for event Pokémon since then (i.e. Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys etc.) outside of Japan? (I never got anything after RBY)

If not then rofl ur fuked. :B

Arceus does look pretty cool, though.

Diamond/Pearl glitch discovery!

This glitch was found by Holepunch over on GameFAQs.

Copy-pasted:

"Well, I discovered a new glitch, sadly it isn't a cloning glitch, nor has there been any use found of it...yet.

I call it "tweaking"

I discovered this while hatching eggs on the path through Solaceton and the routes above and below it. I was riding the bike in the fast gear.

Out of sheer boredom, I started to press down on basically the center of the D-Pad, going back and forth while slightly tapping up.

The result was my sprite would move upwards while facing sideways, THAT ISN'T THE GLITCH YET!

By "tweaking" my way upwards I about to leave the north exit of Solacetown when THUD!

Invisible Wall. Somehow by tweaking my way upwards I never really gave the game a chance to load the area above me. The invisible wall leaves when you leave the screen and come back. I managed to get this to work 4 times, 3 times were just invisble walls, however the 4th time, the game didn't generate a new route at all, except left the north a completely black abyss.

Here are my notes:

-Tweaking must me very violent, you want a lot of left and right movement and occasionaly moving up...about 3 turns per square you move north, ALL MUST ME FLUENT, NO STOPPING.

-This seems to work better when starting the tweaking from the route below Solacetown and working your way up.

-It is inconsistent in doing it, if you can't get it the first few times don't post saying IT DOESN'T WORK.

So...so far this isn't much, but there is potental, if you can somehow tweak out an area that your character will be forced to walk through, we may have another way to Darkrai and Shemi.

Oh, and if any one of you submit this glitch under your name, I'll murderize you."

It's difficult to pull off, but it works.  As he said, either you'll run into an invisible wall or you'll hit a black abyss.  However, you cannot pass into the abyss (not that we know of).  The point where you should tweak in Solaceon Town is at the Pokemon Center.  That is where the game loads the next route when you cross it.  However, since you're violently tweaking, the game focuses on your erratic left-to-right movements and doesn't detect you moving up one square.  As a result, the game does not load the next route.

A shitload of discoveries over this glitch.  All these are from GameFAQs.

Quote from: mantendo
From eternal248 and others:

1) I found a glitched Arseus
2) A possible Darkrai has been found
3) I found that it is possible to Run Tweak
4) It is possible to create a black and white abyss. Not 100% how- most likely random.
5) I have found that tweaking may be able to reveal Arseus' stairway
6) Sheymin's garden has been "found" but we have not been able to get to Sheymin yet
7) It is possible to tweak into the Canalave inn
8) A few missingnos have been found in the abyss
9) Only white abysses are walkable
10) Jubilife is easily tweaked
11) We believe that the pokemon found while tweaking come from the Snowpoint Temple, or the Acuity Lakefront

Quote from: at94numba111
OMFG I just caught a Darkrai. I started Tweaking at the top of jubilife and went all the way down to the route to the bottom of the city. I was in an abyss so i went left and walked into the water. I walked up on the water for about a minute and ended up on a foggy island so i looked at my party screen and it was clear after that. I walked and bam, theres Darkrai. I threw my masterball at him and well caught him. Im happy now so im goin to bed. Tomorrow ill try to find arceus and sheime(sp?). Well good night!

So it looks like we could be able to catch the event pogeyz without AR or waiting for the events.

Go to this site, enter your trainer ID, and you can tell that guy certain phrases/words to get a new background.  Currently, it's just a Team Galactic background, but tomorrow, a new one will be revealed.

It stinks that the events for the legendary Pokémon such as Arceus, Shaymin, and Darkrai are only in Japan currently. Hopefully they will have the events in other parts of the world soon, and they probably will. Anyway, here is my Pokémon Diamond friend code. My name in the game is Diamond, because I have a history of naming my characters after the version names. My signature on the back of my Trainer card is PM888 though, so you can know that is me.

I, genus, the unofficial best pokemon trainer on tsc, took on Quartz in an endearing battle of wits. I wrote this before the battle begin. I so hope I lose just for the sake of the hilarity. I'm sure someone will get burned by an unexpected critical or completely nonsensical ailment. That's what makes pokemon so fun!

I took no risks and led off with mighty Kingdra, while Quartz sent out his vicious Gardevoir. I switched in Drapion, and Quartz used psychic for no effect. Quartz switched to Jirachi, who took a small bit of damage from a Drapion night slash. Next turn, Drapion used Earthquake, knocking Jirachi's health to 1/4, and Jirachi used doom desire. Drapion eq'd again...right into a Togekiss switch. I had Drapion use Ice Fang, knocking Togekiss to 3/4 health while Quartz had Togekiss use Air Slash. In an intense moment, that combined with doom desire feinted Drapion!

I switched in Jolteon. He thunderbolted into a Rhyperior switch. A pox! At this point I am thinking: "eh, at least Rhyperior is slow, so I can throw someone like Togekiss at him for the ko".

My next course of action was to bring in Togekiss. Rhyperior used Rock Polish. I had no idea what to do. I expected Rhyperior to outspeed Togekiss, and only hoped its hp was high enough to endure a hit. Next turn, he used Stone Edge, resulting in a ohko on Togekiss. Dusknoir was called in to fight, and used Confuse Ray after taking a Rhyperior earthquake for almost 1/2 health. With his handy dandy leftovers, Dusknoir gained some back. The next turn, I opted for a risky Mean Look. Rhyperior pulled off an Earthquake, knocking Dusknoir to 64 health. Leftovers brought him to 82. Earthquake ko'd Dusknoir before he got the chance to use Destiny Bond. At this point my prospects were grim, having 3 pokemon not known for their stellar defense.

My next choice was to bring in the stolid fighter Machamp. Rhyperior dished out an eq for around 200 damage, and was brought to a hair's breadth of feinting from a Dynamic Punch. Machamp used Bullet Punch for the ko.

Quartz brought in Gardevoir. Sensing an impending feint, I had Machamp use Bullet Punch. Sure enough, Gardevoir used psychic to knock out Machamp. I was left with Jolteon and Kingdra against 5 of Quartz' pokemon, one on the verge of feinting and another still at a solid 5/6 health. In a popular phrase: I was screwed.

Jolteon came out to hopefully smack Gardevoir around. Jolteon used twave to lead, paralyzing Gardevoir. And then himself. Guess what popular pokemon has synchronize?

Jolteon thunderbolted, knocking gardevoir to around 1/10 health. Gardevoir twitched. Jolteon used thunderbolt and ko'd gardevoir. Quartz decided to bring in Sceptile. Sceptile got off a swift Earthquake for the knock out, leaving me with bare Kingdra against 4 pokemon, one unknown.

Kingdra came in to hopefully take a pokemon with it. Sceptile used Sword Dance, and Kingdra followed up with Ice Beam. Ice beam brought Sceptile down to 1/12 health. I sighed, knowing poor Kingdra was about to be knocked out. Then, in a 10% miracle on my part, ice beam froze it. Being frozen, Sceptile had little to do but be feinted by ice beam on the next turn.

Quartz brought out Togekiss. Kingdra used Ice Beam, and defeated poor Togekiss. My jaw gaped open. So, I imagine, did the jaw of Quartz. Togekiss is a walling beast with hp and special defense through the roof, and Kingdra isn't cream of the crop in terms of its special attack. I'm not complaining, though

It was Jirachi's turn. Kingdra surfed, leaving Jirachi alive by a thread. Jirachi followed this up with a zen headbutt, bringing Kingdra to roughly 1/2 health. On the next turn, a Kingdra surf defeated it.

Absol came out. This was an interesting moment for me. Quartz and I had both discussed how cool Absol is in terms of attack (and looks, it's probably one of the coolest looking pokemon next to old school Ninetails), but how the lack of speed, defense, and hp are cripplers for its use. I suggested him giving Absol sucker punch. I knew Absol would have it in her arsenal, but didn't want to Rain Dance in the off chance Quartz played it cool and used a regular attack move, anticipating my fear of Sucker Punch. Kingdra could surely not take another hit, especially from a 90 power move used by a pokemon with an insanely high attack base. I used Draco Meteor, and held my breath. Quartz made Absol use Sucker Punch.

Guess how it ended?

If you guessed that Kingdra took the attack and was left alive but an astounding 32 hp, then you guessed correctly. If you guessed Draco Meteor missed...then you guessed incorrectly. It hit Absol dead on to defeat Quartz. Then Kingdra's special attack fell.

1-0 Genus

Probably the most intense and luck filled battle I've ever fought.

Sucker punch is 80 base power, and as I stated to you, I decided putting that move in before our chat.  But yeah, most intense battle ever.  I can think of at least three things that would have assured my victory, and I think there were a few that would have gotten you greater victory.  Crazy, crazy battle.

Yeah ok.

Let's list ways we both could have won this battle, bar the *huge* one I'm keeping secret.

If I used Ice Fang instead of Earthquake for a second time against Jirachi, Togekiss would have probably been feinted. If I brought in Machamp instead of Togekiss to fight Rhyperior, I'd have no problem taking out Sceptile. If I used thunderbolt instead of Thunder Wave, Gardevoir would have fallen, leaving me with Jolteon to face Sceptile in good condition. I would have, no doubt, used Thunder Wave, and neutralized it with relative ease.

If you anticipated my switch to Drapion with Gardevoir, you could have double switched Rhyperior, leaving me helpless. If you had Sceptile use an attack move instead of Swords Dance, Kingdra would have been desperately low on health. If you switched in Jirachi instead of Togekiss after Sceptile's feint and used Doom Desire, I would have, no question, lost.

And that's really all I can think of. I wish I had more battles like this.

This was supposed to be posted before I went to college today but the power went out while I was typing so I'm posting it now.

So Quartz asked me for a battle Sunday night. I was working on my project so I was a bit hesitant (that and my pokemon haven't been efficiently trained for battle; oh, and did I mention I haven't battled competitively before?).

This is a long summary, and it may not be entirely accurate since neither Quartz nor I logged during the battle. Amazingly, I was able to recall virtually everything (amazing because I have terrible memory), although the parts with Empoleon vs. Espeon and Empoleon vs. Absol may not be 100% accurate. I ran this through with Quartz and he said everything appeared to be correct but just note that there is a chance that those parts are off a little.

Also since this summary is long, I wrote a shorthand version using symbols that's about 60% the length of the original. You can find it as an attachment to this post.

So without further ado...on with the wall of text battle summary!

Please note that all these HP amounts are from what I recall in memory (remember, I wasn't logging this during the match) so they may not be completely accurate. Also note that I colored the pokemon I send out blue and Quartz's (Trista's >_>) pokemon red to make it pretty easier to see what pokemon belong to who.

I send out Alakazam.
Quartz sends out Hitmonchan.

Quartz switches to Absol. (Should've seen that coming)
Alakazam uses Psychic. No effect on Absol.

Alakazam uses Reflect.
Absol uses Night Slash. Scores a critical and OHKOs Alakazam. (0-1)

I send out Lucario.

Quartz switches to Armaldo.
Lucario uses Aura Sphere; knocks Armaldo down to about 50%.

Lucario uses Me First and uses Earthquake; knocks Armaldo down to about 20%.
Armaldo uses Earthquake; knocks Lucario down to about 60%.

Quartz switches to Gyarados.
Gyarados's Intimidate cuts Lucario's attack down one level. Unfortunately all of Lucario's moves are special so that ends up being pretty useless. X)
Lucario uses Dragon Pulse; It scores a critical and knocks Gyarados down to about 55%.

Lucario uses Psychic; knocks Gyarados down to about 25%.
Gyarados uses Earthquake; knocks Lucario down to 18HP (about 10%).

I press on the attack and have Lucario use Dragon Pulse which KOs Gyarados. (1-1)

Quartz sends out Espeon.

I anticipate a Psychic for the KO and switch to Umbreon.
As I suspected, Espeon uses Psychic; no effect on Umbreon. X)

Quartz switches to Porygon2.
Porygon2 traces Umbreon's Syncronize.
Umbreon uses Substitute. HP is now at 75%.
Umbreon's Leftovers brings it back up to 81.25%.

Umbreon uses Confuse Ray; Porygon2 is now confused.
Porygon2 hits itself in its confusion. HP is now around 90%.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 87.5%.
Porygon2's Leftovers bring its HP to 100%.

Guess Quartz didn't like the confusion, so he switches to Hitmonchan.
Umbreon uses Toxic to badly poison Hitmonchan.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 93.75%.
Toxic takes Hitmonchan's HP to 93.75%.

Hitmonchan uses Drain Punch and breaks the Substitute. HP is restored to 100%.
I anticipated the sub breaking and use Substitute. HP is now 68.75%.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 75%.
Toxic takes Hitmonchan's HP to 87.5%.

Hitmonchan again uses Drain Punch and breaks the sub again. HP is restored to 100%.
Umbreon uses Confuse Ray to confuse Hitmonchan.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 81.25%.
Toxic takes Hitmonchan's HP to 81.25%.
I believe this is when Reflect wears off (Alakazam was holding a Light Clay).

Hitmonchan hits itself in its confusion. HP is now about 60%.
Umbreon uses Substitute. HP is now 56.25%.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 62.5%.
Toxic takes Hitmonchan's HP to about 35%.

Hitmonchan is still confused but is able to pull off a Drain Punch. It breaks the sub and restores its HP to about 50%.
I've had enough of this and have Umbreon use Last Resort which takes Hitmonchan down to about 20%.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring its HP to 68.75%.
Toxic does its thing for the KO. (2-1)

Quartz sends out Absol.

Absol uses X-Scissor which brings Umbreon down to about 30%.
Umbreon uses Confuse Ray to confuse Absol.
Umbreon's Leftovers bring it's HP to about 36%.

I know Quartz is going to keep using X-Scissor so I switch to Charizard.
Absol is confused but pulls off an X-Scissor which does a whopping 10 damage, bringing Charizard to 138 HP (~95%)

Quartz switches to Porygon2.
Charizard uses Air Slash; Porygon2's HP drops to about 70%.
Porygon2's Leftovers bring its HP to about 76%.

I don't remember what Porygon2's defensive stats are so I have Charizard use Dragon Claw. That was a mistake--HP only drops to about 55%.
Porygon2 uses Discharge; Charizard's HP falls to about 25%.
Porygon2's Leftovers bring its HP to about 61%.

I decided to keep Charizard in and try to get a critical Air Slash; unfortunately that doesn't happen and its HP only falls to about 30%.
Porygon2 uses Tri Attack (which looks awesome btw) and KOs Charizard. (2-2)
Porygon2's Leftovers bring its HP up to about 36%.

I send out Empoleon.

I have Empoleon use Brine which KOs Porygon2. (3-2)

Quartz sends out Armaldo. I don't know what compelled him to do that, but I'm thinking he was trying to get an attack (probably Earthquake) in before Empoleon.

I don't give him that chance, and have Empoleon use Aqua Jet for the KO. (4-2)

Quartz sends out Espeon. I'm intrigued as to why he would choose Espeon over Absol but find out why on the coming turn.

Espeon uses Grass Knot, which I wasn't expecting. Empoleon's HP drops to about 75%.
I know Espeon has poor Defense so I try a Metal Claw, hoping for the Attack boost. Of course that doesn't come, and Espeon's HP only drops to about 80%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 2 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 76%.

I abandon Metal Claw and instead use Aqua Jet, bringing Espeon down to about 55%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 3 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 78%.
Espeon again uses Grass Knot. Empoleon's HP drops to about 51%.

I again have Empoleon use Aqua Jet. Espeon's HP drops to about 30%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 3 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 53%.
Espeon uses Morning Sun; HP increases to about 80%.

Again, Empoleon uses Aqua Jet. Espeon's HP drops to about 50%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 3 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 55%.
Espeon uses Morning Sun; HP increases to 100%.

Espeon uses Grass Knot; Empoleon's HP drops to about 30%.
Empoleon uses Brine. Espeon's HP drops to about 50%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 6 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 34%.

Espeon again uses Morning Sun; HP increases to 100%.
Empoleon uses Brine. Espeon's HP again drops to about 50%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 6 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 38%.

At this point I feel like Quartz is simply trying to waste Brine's PP but this time he has Espeon use Grass Knot. Empoleon's HP drops to like 23 or something (~15%).
I use Brine (yaybrine >_>) and bring Espeon down to about 8% HP.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 6 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 27 (~19%).

I think Quartz expects an Aqua Jet so he switches to Absol.
I use Aqua Jet which takes Absol down to about 70% HP.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 4 HP (lawl) to bring it up to about 31 (~21%).

Absol uses Sucker Punch. Empoleon's HP drops to 6 (~4%).
Empoleon uses Aqua Jet; Absol's HP drops to about 40%.
Empoleon's Shell Bell restores 4 HP (lawl) to bring it up to 10 (~6%).

I anticipate another Sucker Punch but go ahead and try for Aqua Jet anyway. Absol uses Sucker Punch and KOs Empoleon. (4-3)

I send out Umbreon.

At this point I had forgotten that Absol knows X-Scissor. Guess what it used >_>... Umbreon gets KOed (I suspect barely). (4-4)

I'm kind of worried that I might lose the battle at this point, but I send out Manectric (<3) and suddenly I feel better. >_>

I'm guessing Quartz thought Manectric wouldn't be able to KO Absol, or maybe that Absol would go first (hold item?), since he didn't try to Sucker Punch this time.
Manectric has lots of Speed and Sp. Atk EVs though so it uses Thunderbolt and KOs Absol. (5-4)

At this point I know I've won. Quartz sends out Espeon.

Manectric is still faster and uses Bite ftw. (6-4)

Turns elapsed: 35
Time elapsed: 26 minutes, from 9:04pm to 9:30pm EDT.

EDIT: "elapsed" now spelled correctly. Happy, genus? :P

What does 'elasped' mean? Aside from that, nice summary and battle. I was amused by the Umbreon vs. Hitmonchan shenanigans, especially coming off of a Dusknoir/Vaporeon matchup that went nowhere for 20 minutes.

Also you guys need to get interested in the tournament again. Seriously.

If Hitmonchan was out sooner, I could have had it easy...  But no matter.  Here's a new summary.  RingRush just finished up the Elite 4, so I asked him for a battle.  He reluctantly agreed, and I pulled out some of my weaker pokemon.  And here's how it went:

--Rush sent out Luxray!
--Luxray was withdrawn!  Alakazam was sent out!
Spinner used Fake out! (Mid green)

Spinner used Aerial Ace! (Red)

Spinner used Mach Punch!
Alakazam Fainted!

--Rush sent out Bronzong!

Bugsy used focus punch!
Scizor fainted!

--Rush sent out Luxray!

Amazon used Poison Jab! (Low yellow)
Luxray used Crunch! (Low green)

Amazon used Poison Jab!
Luxray fainted!

--Rush sent out Torterra!
Amazon used Poison Jab!
Torterra fainted!

--------

Well, it's not like he was battle-worthy.  He said so himself.  Give him some time to get moves and stuff.

And 2-3 of the pokemon on my team I have never used in battle before :p

Though I know I could have killed off more if I had used Psychic instead of Grass Knot. Alakazam would have been kept alive and he is my ownly one with a moveset I like.

I just fought Quartz with a just-for-fun team, who brought in his own unorthodox group. It was an engaging battle, to be sure.

I led with Bastiodon and Quartz Skarmory. In an amusing twist, we both opted for Stealth Rock. Quartz switched to Heracross, who was hurt by Stealth Rock. Bastiodon roared Heracross out, forcing Swellow into battle. Swellow got hit to 3/4 health by Stealth Rock. On the next turn I used Toxic, taking a Steel Wing for minimum damage. Leftovers brought my health up to nearly full. Anticipating a switch, I had Bastiodon use Toxic. Quartz decided to steel wing once more, wasting one of my turns. Steel wing again. I roared again, forcing out Clefable. Clefable used Meteor Mash. I used Toxic, giving it poison. Then I roared out Rhyperior. Fearing an Earthquake and without anyone suitable to bring in, accepting the ko, I used Toxic. Rhyperior rock polished for a nominal degree of surprise. Bastiodon was feinted next turn by Earthquake.

In response to this unfortunate turn of events, I chose Dusknoir. Rhyperior switched to Heracross, who ate a Dusknoir Destiny Bond and took damage from stealth rock to 7/8 health. Heracross brought Dusknoir to 3/4 health with a Night Slash. Pushing my luck, I had Dusknoir use confuse ray, confusing Heracross. Quartz used Night Slash, which hit for critical and knocked out my Dusknoir.

Steelix was my next choice. I briefly contemplated using Toxic, but decided against it in the likely chance Heracross was packing guts. Heracross used Brick Break, which hit for critical and knocked Steelix to 1/4 health.  Steelix used Earthquake and brought Heracross to 3/4 health. Leftovers restored Steelix to 2/7 health. Heracross hit itself in confusion to 3/5 health, and Steelix used Rock slide to bring it to 1/2. Steelix was brought to 1/2 health. Heracross feinted it with Brick Break.

Marshstomp came in for damage control. Once again, Heracross brick breaked, reducing Marshstomp to 1/4 health. Marshstomp used Waterfall for the ko.

In response Quartz sent out Skarmory who Drill Pecked Marshstomp, swiftly feinteing it.

Milotic was next up. Skarmory Drill Pecked, damaging it to 3/4 health. Milotic surfed and feinted Skarmory. Its Flame Orb activated.

Kingdra's turn. Dragon Pulse hit for a critical and Milotic feinted. Sniper hurts.

Bubba the Snorlax was brought out, with prospects just as grim as my first battle against Quartz. Bubba led with Curse, taking dragon pulse and being reduced to roughly 3/4 health. Leftovers gave it an inconsequential boost. Kingdra used Signal Beam in the hopes of causing Confusion, but it failed and I feinted it with Earthquake.

Next out was Swellow. Stealth Rock left it with 4 hp. It used Facade, leaving Snorlax alive at 13 hp (woo high hp iv!). Snorlax rested, and toxic ko'd Swellow.

Rhyperior came out. Earthquake was, as expected, the first move it used. Snorlax was left alive at 3/5 health, then lefties gave it a boost. Rhyperior Stone Edged Snorlax to 1/3 hp. On the next turn Rhyperior used Stone Edge again, and Snorlax woke up. Earthquake knocked out Rhyperior.

Clefable entered battle, a square 1 on 1 battle with two durable pokemon. Clefable used Return, and Snorlax endured the hit. Snorlax used rest, and was brought to full health. Quartz's next option was Meteor Mash. Meteor Mash brought Snorlax to 4/5 health. Meteor Mash was used again, bringing Snorlax to 3/5 health and raising Clefable's attack. Clefable returned, reducing Bubba to 2/5 health. Snorlax used Curse. Lefties boosted its health. Clefable's next turn was used on a Return. Snorlax lived through it, and in a spectacular mistake I used Rest. Clefable used Meteor Mash, bringing Snorlax to 3/5 health. Clefable used return, which hit for critical this time and reduced Snorlax to 1/5. For the ko and win, Clefable returned.

1-0 Quartz

I guess my good luck is catching up to me.

RPG wanted to test out his super secret team against me, and I wanted to see his super secret team. According to RPG, everything had base totals above 600 and 3 were at 680, which I took to mean that RPG was using 3 legendaries and 3 non-legendary, awesome pokemon. I brought out a team resembling the one I would have used for tournament 6 battles if the tournament got that far. Too bad it didn't.

It Begins in Bold!
Speedy Ninjask was my first choice, who went against Kyogre. As expected, it started raining. Ninjask led with substitute-Kyogre used Calm Mind. Ninjask used Swords Dance, and the Substitute was busted by Ice Beam. Ninjask used Substitute, Kyogre used ice beam, substitute, ice beam, etc. for a few turns of madness. For a change of pace, Ninjask used Baton Pass, sending its enhancements over to Drapion. Drapion survived Thunder by a hair, and next turn ko'd Kyogre with Night Slash.

Palkia was the next pokemon RPG brought in to do battle. Of all the moves at my disposal, I opted for Earthquake. At the time I thought Palkia was Dragon/Steel, and Night Slash would barely scratch it while Earthquake would probably hit for a super effective and knock it out off the bat. Whoops. Palkia was reduced to 1/8 health and surfed for the knockout.

Salamence came out next, about to Dragon Pulse to force a knockout. Palkia is faster. Spacial Rend was super effective and feinted Salamence.

Next up was Weavile. Weavile led with Swords Dance, to be hit by Palkia's surf. Weavile survived because of its Focus Sash. Next turn Weavile ice punched and Palkia was defeated.

After this RPG sent out Manaphy. Weavile Night Slashed, and Manaphy held on with a whopping 1/6 health left. Manaphy surfed for the ko.

Communication error. Which is a shame because I didn't think RPG had much left in the tank.

It Continues with Subtle Undertones!
Ninjask took on Kyogre (again). Ninjask used substitute, and this time RPG wasted no time and led with Thunder. This continued for many turns before Ninjask could no longer substitute. Baton Pass brought Drapion into a Thunder, which left it alive with 2 health. And paralyzed. Kyogre surfed, wasting several of my turns and two pokemon.

Salamence was sent out next in my team. Salamence used Draco Meteor...and Kyogre endured the hit with 1/8 health left. Ice Beam for the ko.

Weavile was sent out to do great justice. Weavile used Swords Dance, and Kyogre surfed it to 1/6 health. Next turn Weavile Night Slashed for the feint.

In response RPG had Manaphy come in to do battle. Weavile used Night Slash once more, reducing Manaphy to 1/6 health (again). Manaphy surfed for the knockout.

In desperation I turned to Ninjask. Ninjask used Aerial Ace. Knockout and great justice!

Modest attack form Deoxys was RPG's next choice. Modest attack form Deoxys was hit by Aerial Ace, resulting in a feint.

Next RPG sent in Lugia. Ninjask Baton Passed to Togekiss who, being an awesome pokemon, absorbed the hit with 3/4 health remaining. On the next turn Togekiss used Nasty Plot. Aeroblast hit for critical...which didn't matter because Togekiss was left with 2 hp! Shadow Ball hit Lugia for critical and a one-shot ko.

Palkia came in. Togekiss used Air Slash, and Palkia survived with 1/8 (popular fraction) health. Surf wasted Togekiss.

Ninjask again. Aerial Ace knocked Palkia out. RPG had one pokemon left. I tasted victory.

It Ends with an Unexpected Twist!
Said pokemon was Giratina. Ninjask baton passed to Vaporeon. Giratina Aerial Aced Vaporeon to 9/10 damage, leftovers brought Vaporeon up to some other high and insignificant fraction. Vaporeon used Ice Beam, reducing Giratina to roughly 1/2 health. In an unexpected twist, Giratina froze!

In an unexpected twist, Giratina thawed out!

Shadow Force. Shit. Leftovers to nearly full health. Hooray.

Vaporeon used acid armor. Shadow Force hit Vaporeon for ~100 damage. Vaporeon used Acid Armor next turn, and Giratina used Shadow Force. Vaporeon used acid armor again for a whopping 6 stage increase, and took Shadow Force for minimal damage. On the next turn Vaporeon Ice Beamed and won the match, surprising both of us.

Man my 6 group is awesome.
