Title: A couple more BS calls.
Post by: yse on March 09, 2007, 09:04:39 pm
I would put them in different topics but here goes anyway.

sdj6707: claiming record times for WV-T and SH-T. Translation of the page with the screenshots revealed he was using Chankast, which gives a wider movement range than a true Dreamcast, and is therefore not allowed.

RedMountain27: Claims 583 rings on LR1-S when three players have 488, the likely max. I suspect bonus stage use. Also the score is only the bonus screen score and doesn't include bosses/other enemies.

I just wanted to post new info really quick about this that I found out a week ago about SDJ's tails times.

I was able to beat his speedhighway tails time on a real dreamcast just playing around.

I have this unnofficial controller made by interact that has a really messed up control stick, and it lets me do the "scroll glitch" or whatever you guys say is only possible on chancast.

The controller itself is not desgined for cheating(as in it doesnt have auto fire or any macros as such) but the from testing this glitch ONLY works on that controller.

So its legitly possible on a real dreamcast, but not with the official controller. Would you still ban it? If it was me I would point more to yes even though the controller wasnt made for cheating because not everyone has one.. but id like to hear your opinion on this.

From what it sounds like to me the controller is just another way of getting around the rules, so I don't see why it shouldn't be banned

A couple more to delete:

Top two here (http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_advance_3/bosses/altar_emerald/any_team)
Record here (http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_advance_3/bosses/toy_kingdom_boss/any_team)

The known max is 40"02 on Altar Emerald. Don't pull this easy mode BS.

Aitamen's time has to be legit.  Seriously.  The reason I don't have it is because I screwed up the last hit on my only lucky run

But yes, Altar Emerald must be fixed.

No
As informative as ever, then.

Not that I'm being any more informative, but yeah, it's a BS stat.

Which is a crying shame, because it raises serious doubts about Aita's 18 second Emerald Hill 1, and I think most of the world would have liked to believe that was possible.

Well, stanski's doing his level best to prove that it cannot be possible, but I'm going to hold out and wait for Aita to actually show up before making any calls on that front.

Also douglas wins as usual.

I have noticed that Aitamen's comment for Toy Kingdom Boss doesn't appear in the history...

Note that the time in question is no longer the record. It's Aitamen's time so no further confusion is caused.

Well, originally I had no doubts that :18 was impossible. With knuckles, I have been EXTREMELY close to :18 though. And assuming someone could stop as well with sonic as knux does, they could get :18. It would seriously be the hardest IL time i've ever tried though, harder than 12 hits on death egg for sure (which i also haven't gotten).

Remember, there are a ton of stats that people thought were impossible. I was 100% confident that 1:48 was the max for wing fort and that 7 hits was the max until i tried the level again.

^Hey, I'll believe it can be done. But I can't be sure that Aita did it. He and RPG both cheated in the pseudo-competition right after the DIY contest, to the point where their times were better than if you had built a straight line of equal length and TAed it.

Nevertheless, I'm 110% positive that the Toy Kingdom Boss stat was BS.

Post by: stanski on May 12, 2007, 05:44:35 pm
Wow. Why did they lie about their stats so badly? Was there a prize involved at all? I can't believe that people would BS about stats that badly when there is no prize involved at all.

Post by: Bilan on May 12, 2007, 06:35:04 pm
Its a long story, but basically we both reverse psyched the other into claiming a stat that wasnt possible and then called bs on each other at the same time in a group convo with Thorn

Back to SA. Is that the controller I heard about? You have to set the neutral position as down,
so your character is walking forward automatically? But anyway, that's cheap.
It's like using rapid fire or slow motion. Or like that SNES controller I have that makes Mario
quickly accelerate and run backward, and makes impossible jumps possible.
If these times stay, I'm doing a super-fast Hot Shelter run by skipping the first block puzzle! :D

What about Final Egg with Sonic? Sonic is affected, but not as much. In this case, it could mean a small advantage, since a slightly lower jump would still carry Sonic to the capsule,
and maybe the Light Speed Dash would be unnecessary (probably not), but I was allowed
to keep my Chankast records (Sonic and Gamma stages, running at full speed or higher) while I had them.

'shouldn't. I hope you've obsoleted them all by now.

Yeah, I may have to be calling BS on the 18 EH1. I know it's possible, but....the TAS is 17 with practically no SD charge (but still top SD speed) , perfect jumps, and a damn-near-impossible-to do-well route.

Shouldn't? You're the one who said it'd be okay, since they're barely affected by the glitch.
Or do you mean that you regret it? Anyway, of course I've beaten them all.
It'd be pretty bad if I couldn't beat those records that I spent little time on, and that
were gotten with the emulator's speed jumping all over. (Also, see my EC-Gamma comment.)

Wha? I do recall saying something like that, but I couldn't have been talking about the joystick range, since it affects times a lot. ...Oh yeah, it was probably back when we thought it just made characters more "floaty".
