Title: Suspicious user: Dark Sleep
Post by: yse on July 15, 2006, 01:19:09 am
Has submitted multiple times of a high standard, including a 20 on Aquatic Ruin 1 Sonic.

These times just aren't done without collaboration. I request a please explain.

This also caught my eye (The 0:20 AR1S in particular) and I fully support the notion of an explanation~

It is possible...the record on an emulator is 19, but, as you're not allowed to use emulators, well...who knows.

Emulators are actually allowed, but using the slowdown function or putting a savestate partway through the level aren't.

In particular, the 19 requires multiple spindashes too fast for anyone to rev at full speed, and 20 is probably similarly impossible.

^^^^^
That's what I meant, using emulation functions. I use an emulator to do some of my runs (when I'm too lazy to get out my Mega Drive (Genesis)), but I never use the save states or slowdown obviously. Re-watching the run of 19 seconds, and I have to agree, the game needs to be running at 3% to do.

If this person is cheating, then that means I can publish my most horrible "prize" ever. Otherwise, ignore this.
-Penalty Game: Thousand Years of BS. The cheater is placed in a special booth with a lie detector inside of it. Every time the offending party answers a question (and lies) some literal BS appears in a hidden compartment above the booth. With enough lies told, the hidden compartment's trap door (set at a 200 pound threshold) opens, causing the literal BS to fall upon the cheater. It turns out that the booth is a time compression chamber which causes 1 day of real life to wind up as 1000 years of time inside the booth, meaning that the cheater is crushed under the weight and aroma of their own BS for 1000 years.

Actually, penalty games are meant to be funny in a twisted way, just check out the old "Horrible Misfortune game" (don't bump it)

Well, I'm the suspicious... First of all, I want to say one thing, i've never done 0'20 in Aquatic Ruin 1, the only record i've done is 0'27, and 0'47 act 2. So perhaps i've put a wrong record; scuze me if it's that, but note that i've never done 0'20. I've also done 0'30, so, since 3 is nearly 2 on my keyboard, I've certainly put 2 instead of 3.

And finally, I'm french, so scuze me for my english.

I suspect the 2 is close to the 3 on most keyboards. =P

Anyhow, thanks for actually coming on the forum and talking to us.

Have you made the same mistake for other times?

No I don't think that, because the only zone I'm first is "Lava Reef" act 2, with an advance of 2 seconds only; so I don't think I've cheating for this =), and also Hidden Palace on Sonic and Knuckles, but with one second (or one millisecond xD, because my time is nearly 0'28"95 loL) advance. I think I all say...
(Sorry again for my poor english -_-)

"I suspect the 2 is close to the 3 on most keyboards. =P"  -> It's right^^

^^If you used Sonic Jam's Time Attack mode for that, your time is unfortunatly voided :(

Okay, two things.

First, when you make a mistake, you correct it! Even if its a higher time you can simply overwrite it the way you do when you get a lower time.

Secondly, as mentioned, Sonic Jam is void.

Your times are currently suspended.
