So sending vid here would be kinda the same thing at SDA huh? Good thing I found this thread since I was wondering this myself. Or at least how to send statistics. I may have missed something in the rules though, I'm still figuring things out here.
Hello, I'm new here...

Bumping old topics is bad for your health, fyi. It's generally considered bad.
Meh, nothing wrong there since he actually had something to say.

Plus it wasnt really that old, nothing compared to TEM's revivals...
Also, as F-man said, Welcome to TSC!

/me cry~
I've seen this question reposted on the forum several times at least.
Perhaps we should make a sticky topic with instructions on how to capture
or just link to Nate's capturing faq on SDA, but it can be a little confusing to follow at times

Agreed.
The topic says it all.

beats me
I have a little problem to make videos ( .avi or others, not in .giz or something like that with gens+) : I tried with gens movie, but they are too much large, so I used Fraps; it works very well, but it doesn't compress videos... so i used virtualdub to do it and my video are less than 1 Mo. Ok that's good, but Fraps isn't free, and in the trial version, we can make only video of 30 second max. Then if somebody knew another program to make videos that could be helpfull. Or perhaps made a topic with instructions about video's captures.

Camtasia Studio 3.
Download the free trial, which lasts for 30 days.
Record your run using Gens+
Use Camtasia to screen capture when you playback your Gens+ movie.
Edit out any unnecessary bits, like, for example, if there's 3 seconds of 'blackness' at the start, cut 2.5 out, same with the level ending, its not entirely necessary to see your score totted up after you hit the signpost/goal ring/whatever (Unless your recording a Score vid that is >_>)
Then simply convert your movie using the handy dandy wizard to a .avi.
Sure, the file size is bigger than a wmv, but it beats having a 15 frame video. mentioning no example's, mike's AR1-K vid. :D

I could be wrong, but don't most Windows XPs come with Windows Movie Maker? You can easily make a wmv out of an avi by opening up Movie Maker and clicking File | Import Into Collections. As long as you make sure to uncheck "Create clips for video files", you then simply place the avi on the storyboard and press Ctrl+P to save it as a wmv. This method cut the size of my HyperCam 2 avi for Launch Base 2 in half, and if you don't have Movie Maker, I'd have no problem converting the vid for you.
I'd like us to try to standardize on the H.264 codec, unless there's any reason not to; it seems to me to be far superior.

I tried encoding a few vids to H264 earlier, but Camtasia refuses to produce the movie if I use it. At the moment I'm using FFDshow codec instead.
