I have a question regarding S3&K:
Is it legal to carry over a shield from act 1 into act 2 for a time attack of act 2 of a zone?
E.g. Getting a Lightning Shield in SO1 and using it to complete SO2 faster
I looked through the rules and found nothing about it, so i thought i´d ask before submitting my time.
(Sorry if this has been asked before)
-
Yes it is. If you watch a few videos here on the site, you'll see the player has a shield from the end of the previous act.
-
Thanks!
I watched some of the runs allready, but those were mostly act 1´s :-)
-
I believe SM's Ice Cap 2 (Sonic) vid carries over a shield. (I think I've seen it; not sure. But I'm pretty sure when he put it up he mentioned something about carrying over the lightning shield being faster.)
-
Yup, he did indeed use a lightning shield for that.
-
This topic mentions that carrying over a shield from the first act of a zone for a Time Attack is legal, but what about doing the same for a Ring Attack?
-
It's allowed for a TA, RA, and SA.
-
Good to know, that means i´ll have to make some savestates with lightning shields :-)
Edit: I just came upon another question in that vein:
For Ring attacking, would it be allowed to carry over rings from the previous act by unveiling ring monitors with the flag and opening them at the start of act 2? I guess not, but i better ask :-)
-
An addition to my last question:
Would it be allowed to:
a) Unveil ring monitors with the flag at the end of act 1 and have the rings count towards the ring total?
b) Unveil ring monitors with the flag at the end of act 1 and open them at the start of act 2, to raise my ring total for act 2?
-
Yeah, they can count for either act.
-
Oh, ok, time for me to memorize the locations of all ring monitors then :-)
-
I demand maps or something.
Here's a sample that SDM showed me for Ice Cap 1:
-
Here, have a map or something:
EDIT: I forgot Knuckles Angel Island 1 but it wouldn't have fit anyway. There aren't any ring boxes there, only invincibility + bubble shield + extra life.
-
Wow, that´s exactly what i needed!
Nice times by the way, i guess they are from the upcoming TAS?
-
That seriously needs to go on the S3(&K) maps page.
Maybe tomorrow I'll fix up my ring counts... maybe.
-
nitsuja have I ever told you that I love you.
<_< what?
-
Here, have a map or something:
I love you for that map. You just solved a 4 year problem for me...now when I get back, it'll be time to scratch down more ring records.
-
Note that you usually have to get them in a certain order (left to right?) to get more than one. And it seems the Launch Base 1 monitors can change depending on where the screen is scrolled to, but those are the monitors it said were there in the ROM.
-
I´m not too sure about the left to right thing, the 3 monitors in AI1 can be unveiled from right to left, but the IC1 ones worked from left to right.
