Title: Sonic makes Guinness World Records-
Post by: ChaoRC on January 04, 2008, 02:31:57 am
Sonic has been featured in the Gamer's Edition 7 of the Guinness Book of Wold Records. Game records include:

-Best selling game on Sega systems
-Highest score for Sonic the Hedgehog 2
-Best selling retro game compilation
-Fastest completion time (we'll see if this really is true)
-Fastest video game character
-Longest running comic based on a videogame
-Most playable characters in any platform game (LOL!)

See it all first-hand @ http://gamers.guinnessworldrecords.com/book2008/preview.aspx (http://gamers.guinnessworldrecords.com/book2008/preview.aspx) Pages 14-15.

What's Superman's canonical maximum speed? Surely faster than Mach 1. He's been in videogames so surely he counts. :P (though I suppose he wasn't created FOR videogames, so maybe he's not a "videogame character")

I also notice they're using SDA for some of their records. That's encouraging.

EDIT: Lol, Super Mario World was a 32-bit game?

And where did that Naka quote come from?

AND WHY IS THERE A PAGE ON TENNIS GAMES???

Irony of course being that the MD's 68000 is actually a 32-bit CPU, but with limited data and address buses (16-bit and 24-bit, respectively), while the SNES's 65816 is only 16-bit.

More likely they were the folks who submitted to both SDA and TG.

Speaking of which, if I actually gave a damn I'd kick the ass of the Sonic 2 high score, but, you know.

(Seriously though, 433k?! LOL.)
