So, we haven't been doing a lot of races lately. I'm ready to start a new series of races, Saturday nights at 7PM Eastern, starting Saturday, July 18th! And it shall be:
TSC RACE NIGHT
Games selected for racing will not just be 2D, though for the 3D games it's likely I'll only choose one of the available stories. Post suggestions on which games you'd like and any questions you have here in the thread or via forum/chat PM please! So long as there's enough interest I'll decide which game for the first week on Wednesday the 15th, stay tuned...
EDIT: So yeah waiting until Wednesday is silly. Race 1 will be Sonic CD. Straight speed run, though you are allowed to time travel, not that it would really be smart to... I will consider a 100% run in the future since this game's really all about the exploration though. :D
Also #tscracenight for posting times and whatnot so we're not bugging everyone in the main channel
-
I like sonic rush so it can be one of the choices, also, sonic 1 as well
-
We keep the traditional games (S1-S3K) but maybe we could also get 3d Blast. In fact i'll be happy to compete in all possible races.
-
I'm not doing any 3-D games because running back and forth between my TV and comp isn't fun for every damn stage.
-
I'm mildly disappointed by the suggestion that none of us have anything to do on Saturday nights.
That said, I'll probably join in a few times.
-
I was gonna say "Clashes with my WoW Raids" BUT it doesn't. hax.
-
Works fine with me, if not for the fact that my TV for the 3D games is in a shed, about 200 metres away.
-
Holy shit! I might actually be able to do this!
Also anything that isn't Game Gear or 360/PS3/Wii exclusive is fine by me. Though my GameCube stats would be, shall we say, not live. (Same general reason as SJ, only I have to run up and down two flights of stairs between my GameCube and my computer. I'm a quick push of the chair away from the rest though; this includes Heroes, Shadow, Riders [lol], and Unleashed PS2.)
-
i like 2D games better, but if we had to have a 3D game, i would choose SU360
-
it's this Saturday?
I suck at Sonic but sure, I'll go for it. :D
-
I read the topic as TSC Rape Night
-
Perhaps I'll join in if I'm still awake then (which I usually am, but not always...). Don't expect me to perform well at 1:00 at night though.
-
Reminder, Sonic CD race tonight, 7PM Eastern, that's 4PM Pacific, midnight in Britain, 1AM in Central Europe, 9AM Sydney, and 3:30AM in Kabul, Afghanistan!
-
I dropped out after the timer hit 30 seconds and I still hadn't passed Palmtree Panic's first Zone.
Sorry guys, I guess trying to do this not having played the game in so long and being very tired in the middle of the night was foolish.
I'd like it we could repeat such a thing during the day or in the evening though, as I was quite looking forward to it. :(
-
RESULTS:
1st) Thorn - 26:19
2nd) SonicAD - 36:09
3rd) Emerl - 46:05
3rd) mike89 - 46:08 (apparently he gets bronze too for using a version 17% slower then Emerl <_<)
5th) Miles - GO in MM2
6th/7th/8th) FuzZerd/Spinballwizard/ShadowJacky - GO in SS3
9th) Kitsune - GO in TT1
And PPA fail.
-
And that went well, so here's the next two races!:
July 25th: Sonic 2 (Gen/MD)
Aug 1st: Sonic Adventure (Sonic's story)
-
Damn you AD, I'd play S2 any day, but I'm not going to be online on the 25th. I'll either be at a family barbecue (if it happens) or at a Warmachine tournament in Flint, either way I'll be gone.
SADX I can't do live without going up and down two flights of stairs or stealing my sister's laptop (since mine doesn't have wireless), but I might have another tourney anyways.
-
I might just do a run all alone someday and write down how long I take.
-
Race is over, my giz is in. And yes, I failed it after somehow finding 3 or 4 continues from SOMEWHERE.
-
2nd place w00t!
-
Final time of 29:03. Fail. Fail. Fail. And yet I still won. I did a total of -4- levels to my plan. So apart from CP1, MC1/2 and DE, this is total shit.
-
So final results of TSC Race Night 2: Sonic 2 Gen/MD
1st werster, 29:04
2nd ShadowJacky, 32:16
3rd Miles, 32:24
4th SonicAD, 40:41
5th Douglas, 42:03
6th FuzZerd, 42:49
7th Koshi, Game Over in Metropolis 3
8th Emerl, Game Over in Oil Ocean 2
9th Achlys, quit in Mystic Cave 1
My run is attached.
Next Saturday, 7PM Eastern: Sonic Adventure, Sonic's story!
The following week: THE MARATHON DEUX. Sonic 1, 2, 3&K again, but this time, you've gotta collect all the emeralds!
-
6th place yay! (man I failed)
-
The following week: THE MARATHON DEUX. Sonic 1, 2, 3&K again, but this time, you've gotta collect all the emeralds!
Oh HELL YEAH. No tournaments that weekend, everyone'll be at Gen Con and I won't. I already missed one marathon, I'm not missing another.
-
I almost could've gone to Gen Con!
-
Sonic Adventure results!
1st) Thorn: 1:34:32
2nd) Miles 1:33:15 (But didn't win due to a troublesome start)
3rd) Kitsune: 1:39:29
4th) AD: 1:39:55
5th) Fuzzerd: 1:48:21
6th) Sondow: 1:54:45
7th) werster: GO in LW
8th) SJ: GO in SD
9th) Paraxade: GO in RM
Also SADX is the shittiest piece of shit. Not only do you fall through floors but you lose 4 lives at once WHAT?!
-
2nd) Miles 1:33:15 (But didn't win due to a troublesome start)
Oh, and I see this time he doesn't complain. >:O
Also anyone who got beaten by Kitsune should be whacked repeatedly with a stick.
-
How about Paraxade? He GO'd in RED MOUNTAIN for Christ's sake.
-
Oh, and I see this time he doesn't complain. >:O
I started on time, but had to restart because I skipped a cutscene (when AD said it was impossible to do so...). It wasn't because people were too fucking impatient to wait before starting, so screw you.
-
How about Paraxade? He GO'd in RED MOUNTAIN for Christ's sake.
first I died on Chaos 0 for some bizarre reason, then in Emerald Coast i missed the jump after the first check and died three times before saying fuck it and doing it normally because i was on my last life. Windy Valley went ok, in Casinopolis I lost several minutes and lives trying to pull off the glitch, then doing it normally because I was on my last life. Icecap was ok, Knuckles/Chaos 4 were fine, in Twinkle Park I lost several minutes/lives again trying to do a trick that didn't even save time because evidently I don't know shit about the level layout. then in speed highway, trying to do the trick at the beginning I landed there twice and fell off trying to go around the fence, managed to get over it on the third try (which again was my last life). then in Red Mountain I fucked up the jump at the end of the first outside section and lost my last life. so basically I totally fucked up the race and that is why i GO'd on Red Mountain.
-
The marathon was great! Even if I was the last person to finish, at least I DID finish >_>
10 players started, but 4 fell out in Sonic 1 due to epic failure in special stages. The rest made it to the finish at a rather leisurely pace.
WINNER: Thorn 3h00m34s
2nd: Fuzzerd 3h19m58s
3rd: Douglas 3h27m49s
4th: RPG 3h42m12s
5th: Miles 3h43m19s
6th: SonicAD 3h47m23s
7th: werster dropped before Star Light 2 after failing the special stage, as he had 4 emeralds with only 1 more opportunity available
8th: Cruizer dropped before Star Light 2 after failing the special stage, as he had 4 emeralds with only 1 more opportunity available, and places 8th since he got there later than werster.
9th: mike89 dropped in Labyrinth 1 after not making the special stage, as he had 2 emeralds with only 3 more opportunities available.
10th: Spinballwizard dropped before Spring Yard 3 as there were 4 special stages left available and he had collected 1 of the 6 emeralds.
Also my runs are attached.
-
Well, tonight's race was an incredibly ambitious undertaking: a Sonic Marathon with all emeralds. Knowing how many people dropped out in Sonic 1 just in the standard race, something was always going to give here... and it did.
10. Spinballwizard - ragequit after SY2
9. mike89 - quit after Lab1
8. Cruizer - quit after Lab2
7. werster - ineligible after SL1
Yes, you read that right. werster and I both knocked out on Sonic 1. And quite a few scary moments, I think both Fuzzerd and Miles got their last emerald on SL2.
The stage was therefore set for SonicAD to claim 4th place or better and reclaim his long-standing bet with me over the fate of the first marathon. This meant beating two of Fuzzerd, Douglas, RPG, Thorn and Miles - and all of them went into S3K with a substantial headstart. Let's see how the remainder finished:
6. SonicAD - 3h47m23s
5. Miles - 3h 43m19s
4. RPG - 3h42m12s
Oh well, pretty close. Only five minutes away from the money.
Third was douglas in the time of 3h27m49s, which Fuzzerd said was better than he thought anyone would do - funny, cause douglas's last few levels included such gems as 6 minute SO2.
Fuzzerd himself came in second with 3h19m58s, a respectable time but nothing compared to the runaway winner...
Thorn, in a time of 3h00m34s!
Congratulations to Thorn (and indeed, everyone who finished)!
-
To be fair, my ragequit was because I was ineligible as I only had one emerald at that point.
-
I'll accept prizes in the form of donations to my PayPal, admins on the site or forum or chat, the ability to delete posts instead of just modify them, or a lovely sig banner like I gave the first Marathon winner.~
What? No, it totally wasn't a banner I did for Spinny with Spinny's name scribbled out!
EDIT: Oh, duh, recordings. Not posting the Sonic 3D Blast run, as nobody else joined me. :(
EDIT 2: Prize received! I must joke like this more often.
-
I think it is worth noting that I kept playing and ended up beating Fuzz :( But yeah, screw you s1 >:O
Oh and doomsday. And LR1. And wing fortress. and eh2...and gh2...and lab1...and Final Zone...the list goes on.
Hilights: I actually did Death Egg well (Both s2 and s3k) But the only thing im really pleased with was 2:05 SC. Also I died there so nevermind <_<
-
:/
Can you see why i was sad over it?
EDIT:
8. Cruizer - quit after Lab2
I was ineligible from SL1 >:(
-
awww yeaa
notable highlights:
Failing one of the later S2 SS's by ONE RING (IIRC).
Passing SS7 by a couple of rings
Hilarious wtfery in S&K SS3
Dieing on Doomsday <_<
-
Shut up mike.
-
second and only 19 minutes behind first w00t!
-
I didn't have time to do the full marathon, and I would fail out in S1 anyway, so I only did Sonic 3. As it was, I finished at the same time the leaders started it. I was planning to do SnK too, but that didn't go as planned.
-
I might be interested in joining the next marathon you guys have if it's something like this.
-
I want to see a Rush Race. That'd be bitchin'
/me shot
-
Final standings of the S3K Knux race:
mike89: 49'46
Thorn: 56'29

JDGA: Game Over in CN1
Achlys: Game Over in AI1
My .giz is attached.
-
5th shit@!
-
TSC Race Night 26/9: Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Knuckles style!
9th: Achlys - GO (AI1 lol)
8th: JDGA - GO (CN2 lol)
7th: SonicAD - GO (SO2)
6th: fuzzerd - GO (SO2) - gets the higher rank cause he got there first
5th: ShadowJacky (not sure on either of these, but definitely less than 1h08:47... stupid X-Chat)
4th: Spinballwizard (only beat SJ by about 15 seconds)
3rd: Miles (1h02:20)
2nd: Thorn (56:29)
WINRAR: mike89! (49:46)
My giz attached.
-
[20:08] <Thorn> I've had games silently give me the middle finger before
[20:09] <Thorn> but never, NEVER, has a game flipped me alternating birds while doing a little jig and sticking its tongue out
[20:09] <Thorn> that is, until this race
A so-so run of Angel Island 1 puts me in front, but starting with dickery in the tube in Angel Island 2, I fall farther and farther behind. Watch for examples of taking the AI2 tube twice, being in the wrong collision plane in MG2 and thus falling through the floor and hitting background walls, getting caught twice in three seconds by the LB2 boss, dying in the floor in MH1, playing MH2 without background music (although I know what caused that one), two zips in FB1 that went the wrong direction, instant death in FB2 via going under a rising object...
-
My giz attached.
Ditto. A few shit levels though.
-
Thought I'd post my .giz I forgot to stop it when I GO'd so the .giz sort of idles for an hour or two after that.
-
I somehow won at S2K tonight. How extraordinary! My run was actually pretty fail, but after a couple half-assed attempts to rush through Death Egg that immediately failed, I went for the fastest totally safe method I knew and even though Miles beat me to Death Egg by a huge margin, I pulled the win. Somehow. Probably never gonna happen again. >_>
-
You only won because Silver Sonic glitched for me!
(ignoring the fact that I died around 15 times on DE beforehand)
-
Continuing the string of utter fail on Death Egg...
EDIT: Alright, it was pretty fail everywhere.
-
Oh HELL YEAH. No tournaments that weekend, everyone'll be at Gen Con and I won't. I already missed one marathon, I'm not missing another.
-
I was gonna say "Clashes with my WoW Raids" BUT it doesn't. hax.

^ The first account was banned a few days ago, and the second was banned at about 10 PM EDT last night. Didn't stop me from getting a post report from somebody at about 11 PM and your post there, though. I've left the posts because he's very easy to spot when he keeps returning to the same topic with the same basic user name.
Given what's been happening on streams, TSC Race Night may be worth a resurrection.
