I'm not sure if it has been decided on whether to make charts for this game or not, but I thought I make a topic on it and get started on it. I have finally got everything unlocked and messed around it with it, so I have -some- idea on how to chart it >_>

My opinion: Sonic with the original version's settings would be together with the original charts, while Sonic with S2 settings and Tails would have a separate chart.
-
I know Thorn has talked about a separate chart for SCD. There are differences from the old version, such as the spindash and there are time savers that can't be used in the new version.
For special stages I was thinking do the same as in the old version, which is do them in time attack mode as sonic, since you can't use tails.
-
Yes.
[soldier]YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH.[/soldier]
Maybe this would inspire me to at least try out CD'11
-
Ok obviously special stage is easy to sort out, it's just the rest that needs looking at and discussing. Should go along with the old charts so nothing has changed with time, rings and scores with sonic. I know there are some things that need to be discussed with such as the spindash and whether they should have a separate chart or not.
Tails is a bit of a problem. You can only use time attack mode with sonic. You can use tails in stage select but the problem is that the past and future signposts are still there. So would we allow time travel for tails? Do we not track him? We can still use tails for act 3 since there is no time travelling there and I can't see any problems with rings and scores as well imo.
As for the rules maybe the same from the old SCD but with maybe one or two new ones, not sure imo >_>
EDIT: btw I'm not very good with discussing new charts, just trying to help get the ball rolling on this since it's been out for a while :(
-
In my opinion:
1. This should be a completely separate game on the site, considering it's a remake that came out 18 years after the original.
2. Don't bother separating spindash.
I have a feeling that not very many people will share it though. <_<
-
-Separating Spindash is retarded
Also I'm for having a new game for this. Frankly, i just want charts for Tails so i can start competitively playing as him >_>
A thought, since the Level select is easy to get to, perhaps we should look into getting past/present/g&b future charts for times? This will be an effort to chart though, what with time attack only allowing present (for zones 1 & 2) and bad future (for zone 3). Level select allows time travel. Perhaps (if this is taken into account) we split the charts to two different categories, Times and Time Attack, where Times is from level select, and Time attack is from time attack mode? Of course, this could all just end up being too confusing to chart (especially with Tails involved) and completely dumped.
Time for a fun discussion! D:
-
Times and Times Attack would work for the split, obviosuly TA would just be Sonic and Times would be Sonic/Tails, or just Tails.
I say just Tails, because does allowing time travel make enough of a difference to warrant an extra set of charts for Sonic too? Though on saying that you suckers miss out on a bunch of hilarious level skips SO MAYBE TIME TRAVEL COULD BE INTERESTING!?
-
Flying over MM2 end with Tails yeahhhhhh~
-
Flying over MM2 end with Tails yeahhhhhh~
Cause you could never do that with Sonic, right.
The main thing I see as a problem is that Tails can't be selected for stage select. Thus, you'd have to start a new save with Tails every time you wanted to play an act. And considering how the physics are slightly different, maybe new charts are in order?
Still wish there was a restart option on the pause menu...

WRONG!?

I jsut entered 32/8, and got debug. Yeah, selectable?

I have amended my first post to include the charts so the admins don't have to search for it. I only put the special chart up at the moment since that was easy to do. Time, rings and scores will be done once we've discussed.
EDIT: I've added times, rings and scores to the chart plus rules from the old version, which I think might change a bit due to what will happen with tails. It's just really discussing about Tails I guess and anything else you guys can think of. Obviously the chart will be edited while we discuss about it.
-
Just posting in here to bump the topic.
I remembered while travelling back home to make WW1 time only since when you go back to the past you can get infinite rings from the angel statue. Never mind got it sorted out with Thorn, so now I think the chart is done :o
-
Bumping this topic so it'll get noticed. It's been a week and still no charts >_>
-
is there a way to transfer or delete charts? I accidentally registered the times for the normal Sonic CD when it needed to be under the 2011 release(Before the notice).
-
So, for tails you're forced to play with the tele posts. For sonic only time attack mode?
-
What about the Time Zone charts? They were supposed to go up for the other Sonic CD charts As you can see here (http://http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=4784) but I guess the admins never got around to it. So why not add them to this game as well?
-
Here's how I would go around doing it.

Normal Times, Rings, Special
Time Attack must be used for Sonic, and stage select for Tails. Only Sonic is available for Special, since you have to use Time Attack.

You must use stage select for both characters.

Too much effort; no one will bother to compete at all.
Competing as Tails is bad enough having to use SS and scroll all the way to the required level when you restart, no one at all wants to do that for Sonic as well, four times for every non-boss level.

Agreed. I actually went through my chart proposal with Thorn who seemed happy with the final chart proposal. Also your chart proposal seems messy while mine was fine.
Might as well add we need SCD11 rules added to competition rules please.

Anyone noticed that the time sometimes starts late into a second?
-
Centiseconds don't reset between time attack runs. Once you gain control, the timer jumps from "00 to whatever your previous run was at, whether it be "03 or "98. In other words, this means if you're not careful with when you end your runs you can end up with a disadvantage of almost a full second.
-
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
-
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
I concur. Sega needs to patch this sometime.
-
It really isn't so bad, just hit pause when you pass a second, just need some timing. Still only takes like 5 seconds to set up for another run.
-
Still annoying! Especially since the game slows down when I press pause.
SO LIEK, how does the rules work? So ANY time is obtainable via Level Select option? Looks like warping is okay'd for Ring+Score Attack.
