Commentaries are in red – as I haven’t used red anywhere else.

While I’ve made my best efforts to keep people “in character” as much as possible, there’re parts where the opposite is deliberately true, that is, that they’re so far out of character that it’s funny. Sprint actually time attacking is a perfect example.

The story of TSC’s grand re-opening…

* Now talking in #soniccenter

* Topic is “The Sonic Center – www.soniccenter.org – Where we’ve reverted back to normality for the purposes of this chat. | TSC’S BACK TODAY!!!”

* Set by Rolken on Mon Jun 06 11:00:00

Seemed to be a convenient day and time to make an announcement about TSC – D-Day. That was also the day I started writing, when TSC was scheduled to be back “in a couple of weeks.”

<Rolken> MIKE

<Rolken> YOU’RE LATE

Of course, for such an announcement, I would never be late. =P

At least, not without a very good reason.

<mike89> wtf?

<mike89> what am I late for?

<Rolken> didn’t you get the email?

<mike89> no, what address did you send it to?

<Rolken> mike89.tsc@gmail.com

<mike89> ah, I don’t use that one

No, I really don’t use that email. My email address (as I should have mentioned already) is mike89_mkscelite@hotmail.com – I initially set up the other one for use with TSC members, but I haven’t used it at all.

<Rolken> oh, okay

<Rolken> my bad

<mike89> anyway, what am I late for?

<Rolken> well, the GRAND RE-OPENING of TSC is today, so I figured we’d get all the regulars in the same place

That’s a good idea – but of course, I’m the only one that would actually try and put it into practice. But to make Rolken put it into practice makes sense – he is the owner, after all.

<mike89> of course! I almost forgot!

<mike89> also I suppose that explains why there are so many people here

<mike89> 32 would be a record for this chat, wouldn’t it?

<_> yes

<_> previous record was 27 the day we switched from Mysteria

<mike89> weren’t seven of those you?

<_> six

<mike89> close enough

As far as I know/can remember, this is entirely correct. The record was 27, and six or seven of them were SM and his alts. No doubt SM will take pleasure in correcting me on this.

<Rolken> twenty minutes to midnight everyone!

<Rolken> also where is andy

<oldskoolgamer101> right here! I’ve been telling you that for half an hour!

<Rolken> no, shadow wedge

<Rolken> I really should stop calling him andy :x

Shadow Wedge’s real name is Andy, of course, but nobody ever calls him that. On the other hand, oldskoolgamer101 is (almost) always referred to as Andy by myself, Rolken, and others.

* Shadow_Wedge has joined #soniccenter

<Joe> Hey Shadow Wedge

<Sprint> joe’s first line in… four days

<Sprint> :)

That’s not so far-fetched. =P

Joe is known to lurk around the chat almost 24/7, yet talk very little, if at all.

<Shadow_Wedge> hey

<Rolken> well, that’s everyone

<CherryMay> WAKE UP CF

<CFsleeping> is everyone here already?

* CFsleeping is now known as CosmicFalcon

Interesting how shouting at the monitor can wake another chat member up. But, of course, anything’s possible because I made it all up. :)

<CosmicFalcon> why couldn’t you have made it a more friendly time rolk?

<CosmicFalcon> 5am sucks D:

<mike89> and let’s face it, 2pm on a school day ain’t the best either =P

Midnight on the east coast of America corresponds to these times in England and eastern Australia respectively (in our winter at least). Rolken is actually based an hour or two behind the east coast, but if I were to use that time it would detract from the next joke.

<oldskoolgamer101> yeah, how are you here, anyway?

<mike89> psychic powers

<mike89> you?

<oldskoolgamer101> er… yeah… psychic powers also… >_<

<mike89> I thought psychic powers were exclusive to the east coast

<oldskoolgamer101> apparently not

Yep, anything really is possible here. :D

<Rolken> ahem

<Rolken> fifteen minutes

<Rolken> okay to kill time, I have a few matters to attend to:

<Rolken> most of you are here because you pwn at sonic

<Rolken> in cherry’s case it’s because you like a good argument ;D

<Rolken> but, yeah

<Rolken> as well as the rebirth of TSC, I’m announcing a TSC Convention, for which I credit the idea to NintenDan

<Rolken> there’ll be more particulars later

This is, of course, why all the regulars are in the one place. No, he couldn’t just send an email out about the convention, he had to make sure everyone found out at once. But of course, he’s not giving anything away (and you find out why in a couple of pages).

<Taco> yay!

<mike89> are you serious? When’s it gonna be?

<Rolken> starts 7pm, July 7 2007

Again, my idea. I always thought this would be a good time to have a convention (American summer, two years from now, perfect time for me to be able to go). And again, Rolken would probably never say this. He’d never be planning this far ahead, only I would do something like that. :)

<mike89> so why exactly are we getting two years notice?

<Rolken> well it’s not the sort of thing you’d only plan two months in advance, is it?

<mike89> fair enough

<mike89> I suppose people need to come from all over the world for this

<Rolken> exactly

<Shadow_Wedge> wait, you never explained why I was here

<Shadow_Wedge> I’m neither good at Sonic, nor do I enjoy a good argument

<Taco> you’re not bad at sonic advance

<Taco> make sure you bring a link cable so I can beat you

<Taco> and mike

<Taco> :D

Very much like NintenDan to make a bold statement like that. Of course, there’s no way he’d beat me. =D

<mike89> in your dreams, taco

And my likely response.

<Rolken> ten minutes

<cybrax> you know, you could just release it now, its not like its gonna take another ten minutes till its ready

<Rolken> yeah, but I like to build suspense c:

Alluding to what comes next, of course.

<_> 9.61 minutes

<CherryMay> quiet SM :(

Typical SM moment – when I look at this line I’m reminded of that time he put a USB cable around his neck for exactly 30 minutes. If you weren’t there for that… well, just imagine what happened there. =P

<genus> I beet u at sonk advnce

This is one of my favourite parts. genus was a character Dale made up, who couldn’t spell and just looked plain moronic. The entire transcript can be found in the chatroom quotes topic somewhere. In fact, there’s three different versions of it, we loved it that much.

<Taco> how’d you get here, Dale?

* genus is now known as DaleG

<RPGnutter> I thought we found out you were a cheat

<DaleG> true

<DaleG> but they don’t know that yet

<DaleG> er… whoops

<_> kickban

<_> NOW

* Sprint sets mode: +b <DaleG’s IP>

* DaleG was kicked by Sprint (your photoshop skills suck)

This is even better. Dale, when he first came to the site, claimed 100% on Advance 2, and was promptly found out. He later regained the respect of most TSCers, and recently took Advance 2 and 3 very comfortably. The Dans (NintenDan and RPGnutter) set out to prove he was a liar, but never did (conclusively, at least).

Also, the reason I’ve said “+b <DaleG’s IP> is twofold. Firstly, I don’t know everyone’s IP addresses from memory, and second, it helps you to know who’s being banned/unbanned. After all, it could be anyone.

<_> ok, to pass the final nine minutes, quick SA2B challenge

<_> Mad Space 2

<_> you have five lives

<_> GO!

Popular pastime among the higher-ranked SA2B players.

<Psyroclasm> 16:12 first go ;o

<cybrax> damn you, 16:14

<Psyroclasm> pwned

* RPGnutter gives up

* mike89 also gives up

<_> 16:23

You just can’t get this time. If you claim it, prepare to be shot. Used because SM makes a lot of typos, but would never allow a typo on a time, especially if it made the time unattainable.

<Rolken> :O

<_> or not

<_> 16:32

<mike89> I was about to say…

<mike89> also I think I’ll have another go

<Taco> 17:25 :(

<mike89> whee, 17:05, new PR

Yes, that would be a new PR for me. I have a meager 17:59. :(

<SS101|Away> 16:09

* SS101|Away is now known as SuperSonic101

<SuperSonic101> am I late?

<Rolken> nope

<Rolken> five minutes early, in fact

And yet I was late, fifteen minutes earlier? >_<

Used for the sole purpose of keeping track of time.

<mike89> who’s got new submissions to submit when TSC comes back up?

<RPGnutter> me, and plenty of them too =P

RPGnutter may well have had a bigger backlog of times than me when TSC finally came back. It’s arguable though, I completely rewrote my Sonic Advance timesheet.

<Shadow_Wedge> same, I’ve been working on Sonic Advance

<Shadow_Wedge> laugh if you will, but I’m gonna beat NintenDan eventually

He always says this, yet he knows he could never possibly beat NintenDan. Well, I hope he knows… and if he didn’t, he will now…

<Taco> haha

<Rolken> yeah, that’s a bit bold of you, shadow wedge
<oldskoolgamer101> I’ve got a few submissions as well…

<SuperSonic101> me too, I might give cybrax a bit of a surprise…

<cybrax> I think you’ll be the one surprised

Another blatantly obvious allusion to the events about to occur…

<cybrax> also I have submissions for the next game to be added…

<sonicam> you mean Labyrinth?

<sonicam> :D

sonicam is a long-term advocate of Sonic Labyrinth in the ranks. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be there, either.

Also, cybrax’s line is incredibly stupid here, but it was the only way I could think to link Labyrinth in there, give sonicam a line in the chat, and cause a bit of confusion at the same time.

<Rolken> there isn’t gonna be another game

<Rolken> cybrax, wtf are you on about

A dead set giveaway of an allusion.

<cybrax> …

<Rolken> we’ll find out soon enough

<Rolken> three minutes!

<Sprint> I was talking to him about MARP

<Sprint> that might be what he’s on about

<Sprint> :)

Sprint’s fruitless optimism coming to the fore. :)

<Rolken> ah

<cybrax> is it going to be completely new?

<cybrax> like, version 4.0 or something?

<Rolken> yep

<Rolken> complete overhaul :o

And another allusion!

<Sprint> and speaking of new submissions, I’ve finally started playing Sonic 3 legitimately again

<Sprint> Marble Garden 2: 2:20/2:09/2:44

<Sprint> :)

This is another of my favourite parts – and it only gets better. Sprint is of course, by far the laziest member of TSC, when it comes to beating me on Sonic 3 at least. He should have 100%’d it by now. =P

<mike89> damnit

<mike89> but good to see you’ve actually got off your ass and played some sonic

<Sprint> hehe

<mike89> you didn’t try for Sonic/Tails into Knuckles’ boss area?

<Sprint> no, too difficult without savestates

<Sprint> needs pretty precise jumps

Don’t know about how tough the jumps are, but they look pretty difficult.

<Sprint> by the way, you actually put up a good fight on this level

<Sprint> :)

<mike89> then the rest should be a piece of cake for you

<mike89> that was my best level

<mike89> well, except Carnival Night 1 Knuckles, good luck with that one

<Sprint> I’ll play it now

<Sprint> :)

Sprint playing two levels… in ONE DAY??? Completely unheard of.

<Rolken> its almost time!

<Rolken> in five

<Rolken> four

<Rolken> three

<Rolken> two

<Rolken> one

<Rolken> www.soniccenter.org !

<Rolken> THE HALO CENTER RETURNS?

And there, of course, is what cybrax was referring to. If you picked what’s about to happen next early on, you’re a bloody genius. :)

<oldskoolgamer101> WTF?

<mike89> is this another April Fools’ joke?

For those who didn’t get this one, TSC went down on April 1st. It’s not so far-fetched that an April Fools joke may have been left-over.

<Rolken> no, I didn’t plan this one

<Rolken> who here plays Halo?

<RPGnutter> CYBRAX!!!

<RPGnutter> I got an email from Rusty saying he hacked TSC

<RPGnutter> now I know it’s the truth

This, also, is based on truth. In fact, this was the starting point for the entire chat.

I got a forwarded email from RPGnutter regarding the supposed hacking of TSC. When I got a hold of said email I felt compelled to build the fake chat around it. The thought of cybrax hacking the database and renaming everything “The Halo Center” seemed viable.

I doubt cybrax really hacked it though – what happens here is another possible solution I suppose.

And, for confidentiality reasons I can’t disclose who initially sent the email (it wasn’t SM as I say it was here). No shooting the messenger!

<_> you ever doubted me?

<RPGnutter> no… >_>

<cybrax> haha, pwned you all

Yep, cybrax tricked us all good.

<Sprint> so you weren’t talking about MARP?

And this is why Sprint’s optimism was best described as fruitless.

<Sprint> also mike: 57

<Sprint> :)

<mike89> DAMNIT!

<mike89> not much stopping you from pwning all the levels now

That really is one of my best times – I doubt I could beat it, but if anyone can it’s Sprint. Of course, in reality he just wouldn’t bother, but to have him actually time attacking in here is a welcome change.

<mike89> also cybrax, explain yourself

<Rolken> actually, I’ll field this one

And yet another suspicious moment. Notice how they’re becoming more frequent the closer we get to the big announcement.

<Rolken> about a month ago I checked the backups, and all this year’s backups had been changed to the Halo center

<Rolken> I thought I got rid of them all

<Rolken> clearly not :x

<Rolken> better check the backups again

<mike89> any reason you’re not really pissed off with cybrax?

<cybrax> bribes

<Rolken> I really did need the money – I couldn’t refuse

A weak excuse. Very weak, in fact.

<mike89> this seems suspicious – are you two in this together?

<Rolken> wtf no way

<cybrax> DON’T BAIL OUT ON ME NOW!

* cybrax has quit IRC (Killed (NickServ (GHOST command used by Rolken)))

No, Rolken couldn’t just kick cybrax out, he had to ghost him, so that his true identity could be revealed…

<mike89> but… you couldn’t do that… unless…

* Rolken is now known as cybrax

And the climax. With my commentary you might wonder why you didn’t discover the secret sooner. This part is, of course, related to Jason Whalls’ second fake chat and how everyone there becomes Brian Gallo. I considered making everyone cybrax (a part of that thinking still remains in this chat) but scrapped it, thinking it would be too unoriginal.

Better yet, with Rolken and cybrax being the same person (and in reality being pretty much polar opposites) I could make up any personality for cybrax that I wanted. For example, those of you who know cybrax would know that he rarely, if ever, uses long words. =P

<mike89> well, I certainly never would have picked it

<SuperSonic101> wait, so you were running the site AND pwning me at SA2B?

<cybrax> no, most of my good times were from before TSC, remember?

<oldskoolgamer101> and I thought Rolken had no interest in time attacking?

<cybrax> well I had to create someone completely opposite to myself

<cybrax> it’d give it away if Rolken and I were practically the same

<mike89> fair point

<cybrax> plus it would make sense for the admin to come across as respectable

<cybrax> I mean, we don’t want another PACHUKA, do we?

I just had to throw this in. It’s always been my line of thinking that “well, at least we have a respectable admin, unlike Sonic CulT…”

Well, it seems I was wrong.

<F-Man> yeah, good point

<Sprint> so why didn’t you make yourself an admin, instead of promoting me?

<cybrax> again, that’d give it away

<Sprint> not that I’m complaining

<Sprint> :)

<_> so when do we see TSC again?

<cybrax> this is your new TSC

<cybrax> MUAHAHAHA!

<_> I knew it would be better off as the SA Elite!

The SA Elite was the predecessor to TSC. It was set up by SM, who gave everyone a template to set up their own sites for hosting their own best scores at SA and SA2. The idea was doomed to fail, as the sites were rarely updated (in my case, never) and it was quite difficult to compare times at a glance.

<mike89> hey, I’ve got an idea

<mike89> first:

* mike89 sets mode: +b <cybrax’s IP>

* cybrax was kicked by mike89 (some admin you are)

<Sprint> so what’s your idea?

<mike89> we need to find Artie

<mike89> Rolken (well, cybrax) told us that “if anything happens to me, Artie knows all the passwords”

Again, based on truth. Rolken’s health isn’t exactly all that flash, and when it got really bad and SM took over briefly he told us that. Interestingly, since he said it Artie hasn’t been seen around.

<mike89> has Artie got IM, and if so, does anyone know his SN?

<_> ArtemisPrower

I actually went to www.teamartail.com to look this one up. Of course, I had to make it look like I didn’t know. So naturally, I gave this line to SM. He seems to know all.

Actually, perhaps I’ll rephrase that. He does know all.

<_> not online though

<mike89> then we wait until he’s here

<mike89> he’s basically in control now

<mike89> but he doesn’t know it yet =P

Imagine a couple of minutes’ pause here. Then Cherry pipes in with the next line.

<CherryMay> is it safe for me and sprint to talk about something random yet? XD

<mike89> sure, knock yourselves out

<mike89> we can’t do anything until Artie shows up

In comparison, there should only be a few seconds’ pause here. I would have used timestamps, but that’d be too time-consuming on my part. =P

<_> there he is now

<mike89> alright

* CherryMay blah

<mike89> explain the situation to him, and get him in here

Me giving SM directions? I’m surprised Artie even shows up!

* Artie has joined #soniccenter

Let it be known at this stage: I have no idea what Artie is like online. As of this point, I’ve basically given him a “respectable” persona (i.e. he uses capital letters, doesn’t swear, and doesn’t get too excited about stuff that doesn’t require getting excited).

<F-Man> :o long time no see artie

<Artie> Hey everyone

<Artie> To be honest, I don’t know what I can do

<Artie> I have the passwords, but I don’t have old backups

Probably truth. I doubt Artie would have backups of a site he doesn’t even work on. In fact, I’m surprised he even remembers the passwords. :o

<oldskoolgamer101> I have fairly recent caches

<oldskoolgamer101> could those be of any use?

This is the most ridiculous line in the entire chat. I don’t know how stuff works on computers, but I’m quite sure you wouldn’t be able to resurrect a site as complex as TSC from caches. I suppose it helps contribute to my portrayal of Andy as a little bit behind the 8-ball.

<Artie> Send them to me

<Artie> I’ll see what I can do

<oldskoolgamer101> ok, sent

<Artie> OK, I’ll be back soon

*Artie has quit IRC (Quit: www.teamartail.com)

* mike89 sets mode: -b <cybrax’s IP>

Had I just used an IP here, would anyone have guessed it, or bothered to go back and look for whose IP it was? I don’t think so.

<mike89> let’s see if he comes back

<mike89> I want details on the TSC convention

* cybrax has joined #soniccenter

<CherryMay> what makes you think that this will work?

<CherryMay> I mean, hi cybrax

<cybrax> what?

<cybrax> are you trying to recreate TSC behind my back?

What a guess!

<Sprint> no

<_> no

Two people saying no (the remaining admins, at that) should give away what’s actually happening.

<cybrax> you are, and I’m going to prove it

<Sprint> good luck with that

* Sprint sets mode: +b <cybrax’s IP>

* cybrax was kicked by Sprint (Sprint)

I wanted to put something witty here, like Sprint always does, but I just couldn’t think of anything. :(

<mike89> damn, I wanted information out of him :(

* Artie has joined #soniccenter

<Artie> Well, it turned out I had an old backup after all!

This was the only way I could think of to resolve the caches issue. I feel like such an idiot for even considering using that idea. =P

<Artie> I need you guys to test it for me though

<Artie> www.therealsoniccenter.org

Well, it was either that, or it would be hosted off Team ARTail. I know which one I preferred.

<oldskoolgamer101> IT WORKS!

<SuperSonic101> WOOT!

<RPGnutter> ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!

<Artie> Then my work here is done

<Artie> Later everyone

<mike89> thanks for bringing back our site

<Artie> No worries.

* Artie has quit IRC (Quit: www.teamartail.com)

<mike89> alright, somebody make a submission to make sure it works

<mike89> andy, you do it

Yeah, like I would delegate the first submission at the new TSC to someone else. I suppose this is just to prove a point though. And piss Rayku off. =D

<oldskoolgamer101> sure

<RPGnutter> why not me? I’ve got way more to submit than andy does

<mike89> you’d be surprised…

<Psyroclasm> he couldn’t possibly have beaten me on SA2B… could he?

Another incredible guess that is actually correct. The quality of the guesswork is amazing today!

<oldskoolgamer101> New Champion: oldskoolgamer101 is now champion of Sonic Adventure 2 (B)! Congratulations!

<oldskoolgamer101> I think everything’s in order :D

Probably what Andy would say when this occurred (well, a little bit too calm, but you find out why that is soon).

<Psyroclasm> no way

<Psyroclasm> that’s just not possible

<Psyroclasm> you cheated

And Rayku’s (very) probable response. I reckon he’d suspect anyone who came even close to him on SA2B (with the exception of cybrax) of cheating.

<oldskoolgamer101> nope, all legit

<CherryMay> I sense a kimpy :(

The third incredible guess for the day. However, this one’s sort of to be expected – Cherry’s become very adept at picking when Andy isn’t Andy.

And for those of you who’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, kimpy is Andy’s sister, who takes immense pleasure in annoying the hell out of the TSC chat regulars.

<Psyroclasm> HB2 1:14:21? I think not

<Psyroclasm> also PC1 2:01:18?

<Psyroclasm> and Green Hill 25:11?

Blatant giveaway. Andy would never be so stupid (regardless of how I portray him here).

<oldskoolgamer101> okay, you got me

* oldskoolgamer101 is now known as kimpy

<kimpy> you didn’t think you could keep me away, did you?

<mike89> you’d better not be cybrax too…

Again, my tribute to Whalls’ second chat. I loved it that much, I wanted to make everyone cybrax. I then ran into the problem of “how would cybrax know so much about Australian football?” and then gave up on the idea.

<CherryMay> I’m not waiting to find out

* CherryMay sets mode: +b <kimpy’s IP>

* kimpy was kicked by CherryMay (nobody likes a kimpy :( )

Standard dismissal from Cherry there.

<mike89> well at least that proves submissions are in order

<mike89> so I assume we can submit now

<mike89> and nothing will break or anything

<_> yes

<Sprint> Carnival Night 1: 46/50/57

<Sprint> :)

* Sprint submits

As you can see, my lead on Sonic 3 is dwindling by the minute, rather than by the month as is usual.

<Psyroclasm> okay, since I’m the only one here who knows cybrax personally, I think I get responsibility for holding the TSC convention

<mike89> actually, I think that responsibility goes to SM

I always assumed that, if there were a convention of such proportions, Rolken would host it. With him out of the question (and cybrax disgraced), I reckon SM would have been next in line.

<mike89> do you accept?

<_> no

<_> and what about Artie?

<mike89> ask Artie

<mike89> but in the meantime, it lies with Rayku, I suppose

Two things here. Firstly, if cybrax is so disgraced, why does the only person from TSC he knows personally get to host the convention?

Secondly, why am I calling the shots? And if I am, why am I not being listed as a possibility to host the convention? =P

<Psyroclasm> all right

<Psyroclasm> he had an invite list

* gbagcn has joined #soniccenter

I deliberately have gbagcn enter here, so he knows just enough about what’s going on to complain about it.

<Psyroclasm> consisting of who he thought were the 25 best players on the site

<Psyroclasm> it is as follows:

<Psyroclasm> CosmicFalcon, cybrax, DaleG, F-Man, FoxLuc, Ghost, Legogo, magnum12, megadrivechamps, mike89, NintenDan, oldskoolgamer101, Rayku, RPGnutter, Shadow Wedge, shadowgamer196, SadisticMystic, sonicam, sonichero, SprintGod, SuperSonic101, Turbos, yoshifan, ybbun, zealous

I drafted a list of 25 names that came to my head straight away, then sorted them into alphabetical order. Why? I do not know.

Mind you, most of those 25 are supposedly in here, but those that are never in here don’t get lines in the chat. I actually managed to avoid having everyone speak quite well.

<gbagcn> why am I not on that list?

gbagcn comes to #soniccenter for one reason: to complain. If it’s not about the lack of a unidivision in Sonic Advance 3, it’s about the lack of a site in general. In this case, it’s because he’s not one of the 25 best at the site (which is probably true, but then, I didn’t even consider Sonic Advance 3 when I wrote this).

<Sprint> …

* gbagcn has kicked by Sprint (cause nobody likes Sonic Advance 3)

<RPGnutter> how’d DaleG get on the list?

<Psyroclasm> it’s an old list ;o

<mike89> replace him with SHADOW JACKY

<mike89> he might be out of the loop, but he’s a quality SADX player

<Taco> actually, I think I get the rights to the convention

<Taco> it was my idea, after all

This really was Taco’s idea. One of the best ideas he’s ever had, too. I just wonder how it’ll ever come about…

<mike89> shit… we’re in a bit of a pickle

<mike89> Rayku, NintenDan and Artie all deserve to host it

<mike89> why can’t we have three?

<mike89> or a traveling one, or something

Now that would be a good idea.

<Taco> sounds good

* Artie has joined #soniccenter

<Artie> Having problems?

<_> no, the site’s fine

<Artie> Then why am I here?

<mike89> one of the last things cybrax did here was to announce a TSC convention

<mike89> now he’s gone, we don’t know who should host it

<mike89> it’s either you, SM (who declined), NintenDan (who came up with the idea), or Rayku (who actually knows cybrax)

<Psyroclasm> ok, we’ll take a popular vote, but only from people on the invite list

<Psyroclasm> I think everyone on that list is here, with the exception of DaleG, cybrax, Legogo, ybbun and oldskoolgamer101

Initially I had Artie saying these lines, until I realised he actually knew nothing about the invite list, since he wasn’t here when it was released.

Also I’ve deliberately left out exactly five people from the list, so that the numbers add up perfectly at the end. I’ve mainly done this to avoid an SM backlash. =P

<Artie> so… who says I should get it?

<_> one

<F-Man> two

<Shadow_Wedge> three

<SuperSonic101> four

<CosmicFalcon> five

<Zealous> six

<Artie> and my vote makes seven

Nobody said anything about being able to vote for yourself! In conclusion, Artie makes up the rules as he goes.

<Artie> Any more?

<Artie> Alright, who votes for NintenDan to host it?

<Taco> me!

<mike89> two

<Sprint> pi!

<Sprint> I mean three

<RPGnutter> four

* mike89 sets mode: -b <kimpy’s IP>

Another case for using <kimpy’s IP> as opposed to the actual IP address. This probably means I’ve spoken to Andy on MSN and I can believe that it’s actually him.

<mike89> don’t worry, its okay

<Turbos> five?

* oldskoolgamer101 has joined #soniccenter

<sonicam> six

<Joe> seven

<oldskoolgamer101> wtf?

<oldskoolgamer101> eight…

<mike89> you don’t even know what you’re voting for

Figured I’d do this, since Andy is completely in the dark at this point and has no idea what’s really going on. Sometimes it seems like that’s the case anyway, even when he should know what’s going on. =P

<Artie> Any more votes?

<Artie> No? Well, it appears Rayku gets the last seven votes, and – wow, it’s close – that’s seven each!

My way of ensuring that nobody who would normally have not been here has to actually say anything. Even if it’s only one word.

<mike89> XD!

<mike89> you couldn’t have scripted that better!

This is probably my favourite line. It’s about here where I’d love to see the look on the face of a person who actually believes all this is happening.

<Artie> oldskoolgamer101, you get the casting vote

<Artie> Who’s going to host the TSC convention? Me, NintenDan or Rayku?

<oldskoolgamer101> who are you, and why are you asking me?

Another example of Andy being completely left in the dark. I don’t know if Andy was around when Artie was (which wasn’t for very long), so I assume here that he wasn’t.

<mike89> after the revelations of today, he’s the owner of the real TSC

<oldskoolgamer101> holy shit, what have I missed?

<mike89> a near-coup by cybrax, Sprint’s return to Sonic 3, and multiple fake times being posted in your place by – guess who?

<oldskoolgamer101> you’re kidding, right?

<mike89> nope

<mike89> I haven’t made any of this up

<oldskoolgamer101> one of these days, I’m gonna kill that sister of mine, I swear

Typical Andy. He didn’t care about the coup. He didn’t care that Sprint actually time attacked a game other than Sonic CD. He’s only focused on his own battered ego. =P

Disclaimer: I do, in fact, endorse the killing of Andy’s sister. =P

<mike89> heh, I know how you feel

Everyone remembers my brother, right? I don’t need to go into that further, I assume.

<Artie> So, what’s the decision?

<oldskoolgamer101> are you all American?

<oldskoolgamer101> I’m taking travel into account

<mike89> yeah, they all are

<oldskoolgamer101> well, given Artie’s the new owner, he should get it

In the end, the rational decision wins out.

Also the next half a page or so is pretty dull, just filler stuff. And yes, I’m quite prepared to say that, I know the weaknesses of my own writing. Having said that, it’s not necessarily weakness, so much as just adding a little more story to the chat.

<Taco> noooooo!

<Taco> pick meeee!

<Psyroclasm> and what about me, your greatest rival ;o

<oldskoolgamer101> well, I’ll still be able to see you two at the convention… won’t I?

<Psyroclasm> most likely

<Taco> yesh

<oldskoolgamer101> so why do you care if you host it or not?

<Psyroclasm> honor I suppose ;o

<Taco> what rayku said

<Artie> Well, given I’m also running Team ARTail, I might not exactly have the time to run TSC as well as I (and you) would like

<Artie> I’ll probably have to designate certain things to other members

<mike89> the other admins were _ and Sprint

<mike89> between them they’ll do a good job of, at the least, keeping things together

<Artie> OK, they can be the other admins

<RPGnutter> heh, with Dale gone from the charts…

<RPGnutter> I’M SONIC ADVANCE 2 WORLD CHAMP AGAIN! ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!

<RPGnutter> that’s RPG 42 – The World 9!

While I was writing this I sent RPGnutter consistent updates on its progress. He suggested I stereotype him to the extent where he was simply a one or two-line-wonder. I’ve used his two main catchphrases here (ROCK ‘N’ ROLL and RPG vs. The World) but I thought he deserved a bit more than just popping up with one of those every now and again.

Also, the two numbers were chosen deliberately. 8 is the number of times RPGnutter’s been knocked out of a TSC championship (twice on the one game). I was hence going to make RPG’s score 9, but a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference was too good to pass up. =D

EDIT: We recently discovered that RPGnutter was actually champion of Sonic Adventure 2 for a day. Numbers edited to reflect this.

<Taco> not for long you’re not!

* Taco plays SAdv2

<mike89> you really are TSC’s unluckiest member, aren’t you?

<RPGnutter> sure am

I once described RPGnutter as TSC’s unluckiest member by virtue of the amount of times he’d been beaten after holding a championship for a short amount of time. He was so taken by the idea, he changed his subtitle on the forum to “TSC’s Unluckiest Member.” If you ever wondered where that came from, now you know!

* RPGnutter also plays SAdv2

<mike89> this gives me an opportunity to take NintenDan by surprise on Advance 1!

* mike89 plays SAdv1

Yes, I would do this. Any opportunity to get another championship, I have to take. :)

<sonicam> and with RPGnutter out of the way I can take over Sonic 3D!

* sonicam plays S3D

<oldskoolgamer101> holy shit, it’s a Sonic-a-thon here

<oldskoolgamer101> I wouldn’t want to miss out

* oldskoolgamer101 plays SA2B

<CosmicFalcon> wtf is going on?

<CosmicFalcon> too much sonic!

<CosmicFalcon> …well, there was that Route 99 time that I keep meaning to beat…

* CosmicFalcon plays SAdv3

That time was actually a record when it was set. When he released the video he was promptly smashed. As such, he continues trying to beat that time so that he can have a record again.

Also, there would be a pretty long break here, say about 15 minutes.

<_> the question remains

<_> what to do with cybrax?

<_> remove him and Rolken, or let him compete?

<Psyroclasm> let him compete! I need local competition =P

<_> I meant for the admins to discuss

<Psyroclasm> oh, okay

<Artie> Well, now I know who Rolken really is, I’m a bit pissed

<Artie> But Rolken was cool, so I reckon cybrax should stay

One-nil. Maybe cybrax isn’t so disgraced in the community after all…

<Sprint> get rid of him

<Sprint> he’s always been trouble

Heh. One-all.

<mike89> what say you, SM?

* mike89 back from pwning NintenDan

<_> I say cybrax stays

<F-Man> WHAT?

<F-Man> after all that, he still stays?

<mike89> well this is completely out of the ordinary

But then, after what’s happened today, what is ordinary?

<mike89> someone else unban cybrax, I can’t bring myself to do it

* CherryMay sets mode: -b <cybrax’s IP>

<Taco> mike, how’d you get that CA2 Knux time on Sonic Advance?

<mike89> not telling =D

<mike89> work it out for yourself

I love being in the position of power. Rarely does NintenDan ask me for a Sonic Advance strat, it’s normally the other way around.

Though, I must say, the trend is reversing. NintenDan wants his 100% Sonic Advance title back, and, well, I don’t give a shit. :)

<Taco> :(

<mike89> oh, and one other thing…

<mike89> New Champion: mike89 is now champion of Sonic Advance! Congratulations!

<mike89> =D

I think I’d need a bit longer than 15 minutes to beat NintenDan. Maybe that break should be an hour long… or two… or four…

<Taco> holy crap

<Taco> now I have to beat you

<Taco> D:

<RPGnutter> nice work mike!

<RPGnutter> ROCK ‘N’… oh, you get the idea XD

<mike89> that’s getting old now

<RPGnutter> fine, I’ll stop using it =P

<oldskoolgamer101> AT LAST! THE DREAM IS COMPLETE!

<oldskoolgamer101> New Champion: oldskoolgamer101 is now champion of Sonic Adventure 2 (B)! Congratulations!

We Aussies are on a pwnage spree today! Andy and I have taken championships we’ve been gunning for for a long time.

<Psyroclasm> …fuck.

<CherryMay> is this kimpy again?

I would expect that Cherry would expect this to be the case. No way, Andy’s too excited about this for it to not be him.

<oldskoolgamer101> not this time!

<oldskoolgamer101> THE GLORY IS MINE!

<oldskoolgamer101> ALL MINE!

* oldskoolgamer101 was kicked by CherryMay (no glory-hoggers kthx :( )

* oldskoolgamer101 has joined #soniccenter

* cybrax has joined #soniccenter

Cybrax returns, disgraced, and now just a plain bastard, like he normally is.

<mike89> let’s see if he wants to redeem himself

<cybrax> don’t think you fuckers have gotten away with this

<cybrax> especially you, Artie

<cybrax> we were in this together

<Artie> OK, I changed my mind. He’s gone.

I wonder if perhaps this line is better suited to SM…

<mike89> fair enough

* mike89 sets mode: +b <cybrax’s IP>

* cybrax was kicked by mike89 (I can’t believe we ever looked up to you)

* saibrax has joined #soniccenter

<mike89> what the…?

<mike89> how did he do that?

<saibrax> hehe

* Sprint sets mode: +b <Rolken’s IP>

I completely forgot about this – cybrax would have had to use a different IP for Rolken or he would have been discovered straight away. My initial excuse for cybrax coming back was that he had dial-up, so his IP changed (as described in the “cybrax hacked TSC” email I received).

While I’m at it, if you want this email, I’ll send it out to you. Just post on the forum, or in the chatroom or something, and I’ll send it out en masse.

* saibrax was kicked by Sprint (Sprint)

<mike89> of course

<mike89> I didn’t think of that

<Sprint> hehe

* mike89 changes topic to “The Real Sonic Center – www.therealsoniccenter.org – Where, after a security scare, we’re back! | Reactions to TSC’s return: <RPGnutter> ROCK ‘N’ ROLL! | <Taco> yay! | <F-Man> WHAT? | <oldskoolgamer101> you’re kidding, right? | <Sprint> … | <Sprint> :)”

All of these are direct quotes from this chat. All are taken out of context. =P

<Artie> Do I still need to be here?

<mike89> you can leave if you want, I suppose

<mike89> sounds like you want to leave anyway

<Artie> I know I’ve said it already today, but my work is done here.

<Artie> Later everyone

* Artie has quit IRC (Quit: www.teamartail.com)

<RPGnutter> Well, I’m outta here, it’s been a long night

<RPGnutter> but an interesting one at that

<RPGnutter> bye everyone

<mike89> later bro

I always call RPGnutter “bro” starting from one time where he thought I may have been his “brother separated at birth.” We still haven’t got over that. =P

* RPGnutter has quit IRC (Quit: )

<Joe> Bye Artie and RPGnutter

<Sprint> …

Joe does this far too often – saying bye to someone after they actually leave. That’s Sprint’s usual response, of course.

* SnK23 has joined #soniccenter

You wouldn’t pick this to be the last part of the chat. I actually wanted to give SnK23 a larger role here, but then I started working on people’s likely responses when she entered and the rest wrote itself.

<SnK23> Hey everyone!

<oldskoolgamer101> hey ;)

<mike89> oh no, not this again…

<Taco> stay away from her, biatches!

<SnK23> I should’ve known this was going to happen. -_-
<oldskoolgamer101> hey, you still haven’t seen a picture of me, have you?

<mike89> I don’t think I can take much more of this…

* mike89 has quit IRC (Quit: call me back when this is over)

All this would probably happen. Going back over a year now, SnK23 is apparently the love interest of both myself and NintenDan. Andy joined in on this just recently – and as

far as I know, she hasn’t seen a picture of Andy yet, and we’d rather she didn’t, for her own sake. =P

And that, as they say, is that.
