How to pwn the crap out of Chaos 4

Tme - How to pwn the crap out of Chaos 4

Submitted by mike89

Chaos 4 is easy to write for. It spans three characters and the strategy is exactly the same, with the exception of the amount of hits required. (Sonic/Knuckles 5, Tails 4.)

First it must be noted that Chaos 4 has (aptly enough) four attacks. One involves him slashing his tail about and creating a shockwave, one where he flips into the air, one where he splits into four balls and attacks separately, and one where he uses his hand to try and grab you.

The trick is to get him to flip into the air, EVERY TIME. It takes up the least time of all four attacks. Surely this requires an insane amount of luck, though?

Nope. There's actually triggers for all four attacks. I only know the one for the flip-into-the-air attack because that's all I (and you) need to know.

To get Chaos 4 to do the flip into the air attack, simply ensure that you're in the air, and close to him, when he stops to do his attack. It's that simple!

Basically, follow Chaos 4 around the arena, and fly/glide/jump whenever possible. It should use the flip-into-the-air attack every time (once before the second hit, once before the third, once before the fourth hit if it goes to five, and three times before the last), and you should hit it as quickly as possible when it bobs its head up.

Note that this makes the strategy considerably easier for Tails and Knuckles - Sonic doesn't stay in the air anywhere near as long and the trigger becomes hard to hit.

And now for the usual analyses:
Sonic - Currently 1'35"56. Quite probably improvable by a couple of seconds.
Tails - 1'16"10. Probably my best of the three, but definitely still beatable.
Knuckles - 1'33"10. Easier than Sonic due to ability to glide, hence why it has been beaten.
