I propose an alternate solution.

Rolken mentioned that the ring bonus continued to count rings even when your cap expired. Therefore if you had a 1500 time bonus and a x2 multiplier, you could prove that you were holding 500 rings despite what your cap tells you.

This seems to be the only feasible solution short of removing the chart entirely.

That's still not the case. There's skills that give you rings that aren't counted in the bonus, and skills that drain rings while not lowering the bonus. Plus we'd be forcing people to beat the level without getting hit once, which is a bit over the top when real RA would only penalize you 10 rings per hit.

I've thought of a third solution that seems attractive to me: luckhax a perfect lv99 Sonic and then distribute that save file to everyone else via SD card. We can even swap off duties every 10 levels or something so no one person has to spend 50 hours levelling. The only downside I see to that solution is that people will have to have SD cards to be competitive, but you can pick one up for $10 these days so it doesn't seem too much of a burden.

The ring cap additions seem to vary between 3 and 7 from anecdotal recollection, so it shouldn't be that monumental of a task to achieve.

Also, if we were to go for skill limitations, 300 is a terrifically low number; I have 477 at lv76. And no/preset skills is silly.

According to my calculations, all skills that're valuable at lv99 (ie, no experience or exclusive skills) together cost 626 points; using 'drawback versions', 575 points. If you assume hit-free runs, you can lop off skills worth 51 (41 drawback) points, but ring chain runs also require an experience skill costing 30 points. All in all, it may end up being a nonissue, especially if further skills are deemed useless. If people are hitting lv99 circa 500 points they might be feeling the pinch, but I'm not sure how probable that is.

I'm inclined to just throw out RA and call it a day, at least until we get some kind of consensus on it.

Nice organizing. Be sure to not forget about Party Mode. :D

Oh, 49.99 is the current price tag for the game. I'm thinking of getting SSX Blur isntead (same tag) so maybe I'll get SatSR at 29.99 or 39.99 or something... We'll see.. ;)

Can you estimate what the minimum ring-cap will be for a level 99 player? If it's, for example, 500, are there actually any missions where you can get 500 rings? If not, then what's the problem? Wether your ring-cap is at 500 or at 999, if you never can collect more than 500 rings in a mission anyway, then it doesn't matter. If there are any missions where you can get more rings than the minimum ring-cap at level 99, then just exclude those missions.

RA doesn't matter that much. SA is pretty much the same thing as RAing due to the lack of a time bonus> And if you really want to just collect rings and not defeat enemies, than do CAing.

2. How to skills work that boost your experience? For example, I have a skill which is supposed to boost my experience when sliding. Does that mean that the more I slide during a mission (even for no reason) the more points (a higher score) I get at the end of a mission?

Oh, thats sad. Rouge is probably too sexy for this game. XD BTW, you can already see by the silouettes who the four unlockable characters are and everyone knows it already anyway, so, I wouldn't call this spoiling. ~^
