Competition Central / Dead Line Video
« on: March 31, 2006, 11:02:36 am »
Hey, if you buy me the Sonic Rush soundtrack and send it to me (with me Paypalling you the money), I'll record a Dead Line 1 (Blaze or Sonic) video. >_>

No seriously.

Alternatively Skylights can do it in exchange for a similar favour on Water Palace 1.

Unless neither of you actually have it (I only assumed you did because you used music from it in the video). In which case I might do so anyway just for the sake of competition.

I will add to this, however, that I also did not know you could do that on the gratings. Nice.

Competition Central / Practice S3&K runs for SDA

That Sonic run was a bit of a comedy of errors, wasn't it? >_>

All good fun to watch though. I certainly didn't know of that trick for Knux in MG2 either (shows that I never played this game to any serious level).

Wait this site is run by Brits?

Awesome.

Also welcome to the newcomer, even though I'm relatively new here myself.

Put it this way Ben: yanno how I told you that top route on Leaf Storm 1 is slower? That's not the case here.

Oh god I'm third now. *cries*

I'd make an attempt at taking back the 1st place but I'm drunk.

Hahahahahaha. :D

Once you've figured it out you're guaranteed to kick my ass though. :(

General Sonic / On the quality of Sonic Adventure

I won't deny I enjoyed it at the time (and SA2), and still like some aspects of it in retrospect, but mostly I hold it in contempt for the shocking physics engine and poor level design.

I actually think I enjoyed SA2 more, not because it was a better game by design (I'm not sure it was, even though there are some parts that are just outright better, like the character's movements and lipsync in cutscenes), but because the goals for the emblems were much more enjoyably challenging than those in SA1 (catch a big fish LULZ).

General Sonic / Sonic and YOU :) [or me] :(

Only good Sonic game in years is Sonic Rush.

Of course, I don't really mean that, as I did actually enjoy SA and SA2 (the latter more so, I must admit, even for its flaws), and I just plain haven't played Sonic Advance 2 or 3 (hear they're okay but 1st was so godawful I didn't bother), or Sonic Battle (hear it's average), or Shadow (rofl). Oh, or Sonic Riders. But it's basically how I feel on the matter.

Naka's making out that they're going to take a new direction for the next 3D Sonic but I'd still put money on it having pretty much the same shockingly bad, floaty, inertia-less engine they've been using since SA1.

It's a sad fact that my life is basically the way it is because of Sonic in almost every single aspect. For some reason, though, the fact that, IMO, Sonic's gone to shit lately isn't particularly distressing for me given this.

General Sonic / The best sonic games for the genesis

Spinball and Sonic 3D are better than people give them credit for.

That said, my fave is by far S3&K. I think Sonic 2 is kinda overrated.

Thanks for showing some proof. Is your time anywhere near maxed out? It doesn't look like it to me, because you went straight from 40"00 to 39"54. :o >_>

I don't think it's quite perfect...I can't remember precisely how the run went but I vaguely remember making maybe one little mistake. To be honest I don't know if I could be bothered to improve it any further: I'm really inconsistent, especially with one certain part. When I got this time I must've had a lucky day because I was basically playing over and over improving bit by bit (my record when I started was 40:15; my first play of that session was like 42 something) until I got under 40.

For Water Palace 2, there's really only one trick to it. When you get to the part where you go left along the level only to get on a friggen slow platform to another slow platform, just get on the rail with two enemies blocking your way at the beginning of that part and hop through the ceiling while you're on the angle.

OH! :O You CAN do that as Sonic...I feel dumb now. Thanks!

Gladly. :D Sonic, Blaze.

I should probably time attack other levels more. On that note, I personally would like a Water Palace 2 guide (as Sonic). My Blaze time is pretty good but as Sonic I'm horribly at that level. :(

Actually, general congrats to Skylights since I didn't earlier, there are so many levels where you're way ahead of everybody else.

I just wanna say SkyLights you're a whore for taking my Mirage Road Act 1 record. :(

But I still got Leaf Storm 1. >:D
