Sorry folks, #3 was delayed while I found a late substitute for Miles.

#3 is Werey! The master of licking balls and raping cats. Among other assorted typos. Or so he wants us to believe.

Having said that, it turns out he's actually not a bad player, which puts him better than the next entry...
Next entry is RPG again confirmed

You think RPG is your competition? This is a sad day Douglas, let it be noted that i thrashed you last time, and i have -0- sitewide points <_<
Hmm let's think, you or RPG with a 62 minute headstart instead of a 62-minute lie in.  I wonder who'd possibly be favourite there.

So with my handicap and the fact that this time I'd bother to practice S3&K, I'm like a certainty to win amirite?  Unless the sleepy one also gets a handicap.

The reviews so far are highly lol.  Gamervision in particular:
Quote
The gameplay is even something worth paying attention to, as it shows that Sonic Team hasn’t entirely forgotten how to make a Sonic game. However, it falls apart
Wut?  If it falls apart, clearly they have.  Also a 6/10 should not equate to "Trash It" on any meaningful scale.  Could be worse though; you could crap in a box and get a 6/10 from Nintendo Power amirite

I think you are the guy in black who carries a white bag slung across his shoulder. That or the guy who falls first. <_< But what is amazing is the fact that I see CF on that video as well. X)

By the way, your friend should change the tags for that video. <_<
AFAIK, CF wasn't there >_>  And I'm neither of them.  I did die pretty quick though, if that's any help.

Now I, for one, am neither surprised nor disappointed by that new announcement.  Why?  Because while, true, it didn't necessarily fit in with Sonic much, the night gameplay in Unleashed was, IMHO, one of the better platformers I've ever played.  I genuinely enjoyed it (except for possibly that one idiot Jungle Joyride level with the really narrow walkways >_< ).

As for Black Knight, I'm actually going to guess biased again ... check out the reader reviews.  7.9 average.  That's FOUR POINTS DIFFERENCE OUT OF TEN.  Uh, users aren't THAT stupid.
Reader reviews are by people who have bought the game this close to release - they'll be more excited about the game, less jaded by Sonic's prior record, and quite probably more anxious to justify the fact that they've spent their pocket money on it (see: console fanboyism).  "Professional" game reviewers aren't perfect, but their incentives are more aligned with providing decent reviews lest people ignore them come the next release.  Plus, you haven't given us a baseline for the reader reviews - how do we know what 7.9 means to them?

If you haven't seen the Xbox 360 gun-fingers ad before, watch it now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNuRQmvykwk

Done?  Good.  Well, a few friends and I thought it looked like fun and that we should try and recreate it.  So we did - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0plc75_blJk

Unfortunately the best bit - when we all got up and walked away as if nothing happened when a number of security types came running about 30 seconds later - isn't on camera (the guy in green got the most attention, surprisingly - his top gave the game away as it says BANG <_<).  Also bonus points for anyone who can tell which one I am :)

I'm guessing he got a slope glitch like in the TAS. but after looking at the TAS it seems you need sonic and tails to perform it so it wouldn't be allowed.

as para said, S+T ban was repealed a while back... (poor Doug)

Unless you mean that it has to be 2P controlled, in which case it's still disallowed... I don't know the specifics, which makes me even more curious...
Yeah, rules needs moar not picking on me :(

Also irrespective of whether it's banned (or will be banned), if you've pulled off something as funky as this sounds you'll get kudos regardless :)

If I'd make a new TSC comic I'd ignore any newbies though, because only few of them are cool. Like werster perhaps, but otherwise...
Calling werster new is possibly stretching the definition, mind ;)  Anyway, there has been no comic with me in yet!

Also I demand to know what happens with the new plot you were on before >:O!!!

No, that's because anyone who calls you into question is "disappeared".  All hail the greater glory of mike89 (or else)!

I have a VCR.

I will make a list of board games we have (or have access to) tomorrow, and also other peoples should list what games they plan on bringing. Also I have played mindtrap and that is great! I am excited for that!

Nightmare I have never even heard of <_<
Outside of it's native Oz, it's called Atmosfear to avoid confusion with Knightmare.  And it's totally awesome.  Mike, which ones do you have?  I'm bringing Harbingers and Soul Rangers if you've not got them <3

I have stacks of board games lying around, just let me know what you -don't- have and I can bring it most likely. I should also bring Mindtrap, which is a game composed of brainteasers - the kind of stuff I'm sure most of us will enjoy.

Also NIGHTMARE! No board game collection is complete without Nightmare.

Also I am pro the rest of that list. I will gladly teach you guys cricket even though it'll probably be snowing :) or at least very cold.

General Sonic / Re: What in Sonic 06 needs fixing?
« on: February 21, 2009, 04:30:29 pm »
Maybe I'm being glib, but it's a much easier problem to think of what should stay in >_>  First things that need to go are the story, voice acting, and extraneous characters (particularly Silver because the whole Telekinesis shindig was never really used properly).  Then, fix the shitty camera and controls.  Then you might have a base to build some decent old-school-style levels (although some level design isn't that bad), which concentrate just on being a solid platformer.  That means overhauling the engine, and probably the world/rendering tech, given the load times and glitchiness and whatnot.  It's just not worthwhile.

It'd be quicker to just take the models (because they are pretty nice looking) and start over, and concentrate on only having a solid Sonic-only platformer.  Licensing a decent engine and hiring an entire new team that actually gives a shit (especially the management who are just heritage whores now) are necessities.  Neither will happen, of course.

Wikkity! / Re: WINDOWS 7 IS THE BEST THING EVER
« on: February 11, 2009, 12:02:57 pm »
i heard of Windows 7. Wasn't that originally called Windows Mojave? Well isn't the beta version out now, but the real version doesn't come out for another 9 months! Can you show us what it looks like for those who never heard of it.
Mojave was a rebranding of Vista to try and show that people's negative perceptions were unfair, and it's true.  A fresh, fully-patched install of Vista is pretty comparable all-round to Win7.  7 has better gadgets, slightly improved UAC and quicker startup time, but performance, third party support, driver models - the things that matter to me - are the same.

The reason 7 will be lauded and Vista reviled has much more to do with the passage of time.  At launch, Vista drivers were shaky, apps were broken and performance wasn't terrific - now those things are fixed (or as much as they will be in 7 as well), the only thing left is the "zomg vista sucks" mindset imprinted on people.  That's what 7 is for, really - it strikes me as today's Win98 SE.

Personally I'm still happy with my custom stripped-down version of XP/Ubuntu dual boot (and it's amazing how much more productive I am in Ubuntu with it's betterness and without Football Manager!).  I'll upgrade when I have a compelling reason to (and if/when I bother with kde for windows, that may well be never).

My 2 cents, YMMV.

1 - how soon after Christmas you would be available for the convention

January 3rd (I always spend Hogmanay - that's New Year's Eve for you non-Scots - in Scotland).

2 - how late into January you would be available for the convention

Whenever.

3 - what gaming systems you may be able to bring with you +games

Uh, my DS?  Can't really bring the PS3 on a transatlantic flight :)

4 - do you have a laptop you would be bringing with you

Probably.

5 - do you have any dietary restrictions

I have a fibre intolerance, which should be fine but means stupid things like I have to eat white bread instead of brown.  Also eating fish is morally wrong >_>

Wikkity! / Re: How do you justify not killing anyone?
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:46:17 am »
Stefan is indeed correct.  The basic human morality of which he speaks is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_reciprocity

TL;DR: essentially, you have an unspoken covenant not to kill people and in exchange people don't kill you.
