On the subject of deleted records: I have a list of stats that were deleted due to the issues with the site earlier. I'll post them either tonight or tomorrow.

TSC is back up, along with submissions. The problem this morning was a failing HDD in the server's RAID-1 array, combined with a stupid RAID controller that doesn't handle it gracefully. The HDD has been replaced.

If anyone encounters any issues with submissions not being processed, please let me know immediately. (either here or on #soniccenter)

Looks like submissions are working well in limited testing. Tomorrow I'll do a full backup and re-enable submissions globally again.

Looks like this batch of submissions worked. Still not sure why the previous one borked horribly.

I'll still need to do more testing, so get some more stats ready for tomorrow at around 9:30 PM EDT. (I'll also get the stats I saved from before that had to be deleted due to the queue table shenanigans.)

Looks like there won't be enough people around with stats tonight.

I'll be home at around 9-9:30 PM tomorrow (2014/10/14). I need at least two or three people with multiple stats to submit.
If you're looking for people with stat to submit I've got about 20-30+ stats to submit.
Can you go to #soniccenter ?

News and Updates / Re: Submissions Temporarily Halted

It seems that some newly-submitted stats had out-of-range stat ID numbers. I'm going to go through the code tomorrow to figure out why this is happening.

I tested it with a single stat for SA2 and that seems to have worked correctly, so maybe it only triggers with large batches.

EDIT: I'll need two or more people who have stats to submit to be in #soniccenter tomorrow (2014/10/13) at around 8 PM 9 PM EDT in order to test the submissions system. (If you submitted stats after I re-enabled submissions earlier today, those stats were deleted due to the rollback. You can help me figure out what's going on by going to #soniccenter tomorrow.)

EDIT 2: [2014/10/13 11:31 AM EDT] I won't be home until around 8:40 PM, so I'll be doing tests at 9 PM tonight.

EDIT 3: [2014/10/13 08:32 PM EDT] Make that 10 PM; extra stuff came up.

Unfortunately it still seems to be broken. Some newly-submitted stats are showing the wrong queue entry.

These

The good news is these duplicated stats were not caused by this issue. There's a known bug where suspending all of a users' stats does not suspend their sitewide score.

I'm going to do a backup of the database, and then re-enable submissions. Hopefully nothing will break. :)

EDIT: Submissions are up. \o/

I believe I have all of the sitewide rankings fixed. I'll be backing up the DB again and reenabling submissions soon.

In the meantime, check http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sitewide - if you see any missing ranking numbers or out-of-order rankings, let me know.

News and Updates / Re: Submissions Temporarily Halted

I need to manually fix up around 300 sitewide stat entries. It should be done by the weekend.

45
They're working again, but there's one problem. Sitewide rankings are still affected. I definitely remember HyperSonic7701 being second and not third on sitewide. I know he had 700+ points not 674.
I forgot to roll back the sitewide points. :V Will do that tonight.

47
By "error", I mean the stats literally show up as "ERR" or "ERROR", specifically on the "Leaders" page, e.g. http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_2 .

48
I believe I have the charts rolled back. Not going to reenable submissions just yet though.

If possible, please look through all the various charts and check if you see anything odd, e.g. "ERR" or "ERROR" boxes. If you find any of these, post them here, along with the URL.

(I'll post the deleted stats later.)

49
Update: I reverted the ranksnaps, but stats still need to be updated. I'll do that tomorrow.

I saved text copies of all stats that were rolled back. I'll post those once stats are fixed.

50
Ugh... something is terribly wrong.

I'll probably need to revert yesterday's submissions entirely. I can't do anything right now, so I'm turning off submissions for now.

Information Kiosk / NOTE: Some stats weren't processed properly recently.
« on: September 05, 2014, 11:04:22 pm »
Due to a glitch in the stat processing queue, several stats submitted today did not get processed correctly.

I marked most of the broken stats as 'DERELICT', so they won't show up anymore. I'm listing those stats here so everyone can fix them.

These other stats need to be resubmitted:

Gamepro011:
  • SH / Bullet Station / Times / Dark, 5:09:61
  • SUWii / Spagonia / Rings / Day 1: 1
  • SUWii / Spagonia / Rings / Night 1: 1
  • SUWii / Spagonia / Rings / Night 2: 1
  • SUWii / Chun-Nan / Rings / Night 2: 1
  • SUWii / Chun-Nan / Rings / Night 3: 1
  • SU360 / Rooftop Run 2 / Rings / Day: 1
  • Shadow / Westopolis / Times / Dark: 99:59:99
  • S3DB / Diamond Dust 2 / Times / Sonic: 9:59
  • S&K / Mushroom Hill 1 / Times / Sonic: 9:59
  • S3 / Angel Island 1 / Times / Knuckles: 9:59
  • S2 / Emerald Hill 1 / Times / Knuckles: 9:59
  • S1 / Spring Yard 3 / Times / Sonic: 9:59
  • SA2(B) / Egg Quarters / Times / Mission 2: 99:59:99

DarkPolarNight:

InferSaime:
  • SCD11 / Palmtree Panic 1 / Rings / Sonic: 107

HyperSonic7701:
  • KC / Introduction / Rings / Levels: 255

The Kid .130.:
  • SU360 / Eggmanland / Times / Day: 3:59:01 (http://youtu.be/4BfhSQKalqE)
  • SU360 / Cool Edge 1 / Times / Day: 2:26:46 (Godly bobsled with a shitlord run)

SonicMega167:
  • SH / Seaside Hill / Times / Rose: 1:42:61

Vicklaw:
  • S&K / Lava Reef 1 / Rings / Sonic: 418 (Passing through the pipes in this level is easier than passing through the slopes in Mushroom hill.)
  • S&K / Lava Reef 1 / Rings / Tails: 418 (I missed a ring last time, either one of the waterfalls or one of rings in the high speed pipes that you pass through without collecting it.)

DarkspinesSonic:
  • SH / Robot Carnival / Bosses / Dark: 1:32:03

General Sonic / Re: Mega Drive help
« on: August 10, 2014, 02:04:56 pm »
If you do a 60 Hz mod, then you *must* either replace the oscillator or use an RGB cable. If you add a 50/60 Hz switch and use composite video without replacing the oscillator, you'll end up with a wacky rainbow pattern.

For 60 Hz, you need a 53.691 MHz oscillator.

(If you use an RGB cable, then this doesn't matter; just the switch will be enough.)

Beef / Re: Concerns: Modded Wiis and Backwards Compability
« on: April 15, 2014, 12:11:02 pm »
With Wii games, there should be absolutely no difference. Games don't read from disc directly; they make a request to IOS, which handles how the data is read. Custom IOSes merely redirect disc requests to SD or USB. (They can also redirect internal NAND requests for WiiWare.) [I will note that if you use DVD-R loading, the disc drive runs at half-speed; with Sonic Colors, the only major issue I noticed is a stutter on level load, which results in the regular music and boost music being out of sync.]

DIOS MIOS is slightly more problematic. The DOL SDK accesses the disc hardware directly, so games have to be patched in memory in order to load from a USB HDD. In every single case I've seen, there's no real difference other than maybe a level loads faster than from disc (and this isn't even consistent when running from disc, either). Also, audio streaming doesn't work, but that just means games that use it won't have music.

Nintendont and Devolution, on the other hand, should NOT be allowed:
  • Both run GameCube games in Wii mode, which has a higher clock rate.
  • Nintendont compatibility is spotty, and many games have problems.
  • Devolution is filled with bullshit DRM.

EDIT: Besides the aforementioned issues, what about for consoles that have the same game available on disc and as a download?

Rules Revisions / Re: sonic 1 3d IS different you know...
« on: March 19, 2014, 11:03:48 pm »
Moved the thread.

As far as I know, Sonic 1 3DS is almost identical to the original (with spindash disabled), except for extra pseudo-VDP accesses for the 3D effect. If anyone knows otherwise, please post info indicating where the game is significantly different.

The colors, Duke! The colors!

Usernames on the forums now have the colors representing their forum user group.

You might notice some changes today.

Among other things, I updated SMF to 2.0.7, and I added alternating row colors to the forums. The solid blue (or purple, or black) was getting irritating, and since most other programs use alternating row colors already, I decided to add it here.

Also, you can now see who is reading a given board or thread. (The text has a transparent background on some themes, which might make it hard to read. I'll fix that later.)

More changes will be coming soon.

I don't usually post IP addresses, but when I do, it's because someone is being a dumbass.

Your IP: 75.84.43.210 == cpe-75-84-43-210.socal.res.rr.com.
"superduper946"'s IP: 75.84.43.210 == cpe-75-84-43-210.socal.res.rr.com.

You're still lying. And no one cares that it's "inappropriate". We care that it's you creating a second account and pretending that it's not you.

I'M SERIOUS. I NEVER POSTED THAT!
I wrote a GUI interface in Visual Basic® to track your IP address. You created the account "superduper946".

Keep denying it and I will permanently ban you from TSC.
