Ban List / Taylor [Banned from Submissions]

Today, some noob "Taylor" registered on TSC and submitted three obviously phony stats:

1. Sonic 1, Green Hill 1: 61:01
2. Sonic Advance, Neo Green Hill 1, Sonic: 0:05:05
3. Sonic Advance, Moon Zone: 0:00:05

These obviously fake stats have resulted in an insta-ban, which won't be reverted unless he proves that he managed to obtain all three stats legally.

Current ban status:
- Banned from submissions.
- Not banned from forums.

You recently submitted two ring stats to Sonic Rush that are over 100 rings better than the previous record; specifically, Huge Crisis 2, Sonic and Blaze.

Did you accidentally include rings obtained in a special stage?

Time Machine is back, and it works now - mostly. /members/ pages should work, but /rankings/ pages may have problems.

List of things to do to fix Time Machine:

Members:
- Member rankings page. DONE. [r1245]
- Member category view, complete mode. Mostly done [r1247], except for a few bugs: DONE.
  - Set to 2006/03/14, http://www.soniccenter.org/members/gerbilsoft/sonic_adventure_dx/rings|view:complete shows no Sonic Total Rings or Total Total Rings. Ok, it seems that my stats specificially weren't calculated for some reason, so this is a calculation error, not a Time Machine error.
  - Set to 2006/03/14, http://www.soniccenter.org/members/gerbilsoft/sonic_adventure_dx/freestyle|view:complete results in a TSC Fatal Error. FIXED. [r1263]
- Member category view, compact mode. DONE. [r1276]
- Member class history view. DONE.

Rankings:
- Only show games that existed on TSC at the specified time. DONE. [r1268 for rankings base; r1269 for champions page]
- Rankings overall.
- Rankings category page.
- Rankings class page.

Player Matchup:
- Non-AJAX mode.
- AJAX mode.

General Statistics:
- Recalculate old maxpoints. Otherwise, all overalls will appear in blue with 0.0%.
- Recalculate old site points. Not really necessary, but eh.
- Use class_obsolete_ranges to determine if a class was obsolete during a certain period of time, since some classes have been unsuspended (e.g. S3/Rings for IC1/Tails and IC1/Knuckles).
- Record ban dates, similar to class_obsolete_ranges but for banned members instead.

Optional:
- Display a user's old TSC name if it was changed.

Yes, there was downtime. TSC has been down from sometime last Tuesday until today at around 7 PM EDT. But it's up now. :)

EDIT: And more downtime due to the HDD acting up. Hopefully, everything should be working now. :)

I relinked everything in Shadow, since it seems that many of the links were broken. One of the changes added new totals for each division in Bosses, but they haven't been recalculated yet, so there won't be many entries here. I will post a notice once they've been recalculated.

So apparently, some Windows users don't get the concept of Windows' "Administrators" group and how anyone in said group has full administrative access to the computer.

Everyone's not-so-favorite party game is now up on TSC. Join the fun! :D

Most mini-games are currently up. I'm considering adding 1P mode, but I'm not sure how the charts for that should work. Rings might be good. Number of steps to the Precioustone might be another idea. Any suggestions?

News and Updates / What's been happening over the past few months

I've been reworking many parts of the site over the past few months. Here's some new features on TSC:

- "Icon View". Enable this in your user settings, and the main game ranking page will show title screens of games, and division labels in many games will be replaced with icons representing each division.

- Sonic Rivals 2 and Sonic Heroes / Special charts.

- Awards! Though I still have yet to do the 2007 TSC Awards. <_<

- The Mario Center, a new subsite, is open for business.

Information Kiosk / Sonic Heroes special stages are up

I added charts for Sonic Heroes' special stages. There are 7 different "acts", and each act consists of a Bonus Challenge and an Emerald Challenge. Bonus Challenges are found on odd-numbered levels (e.g. Seaside Hill, Grand Metropolis), while Emerald Challenges are found on even-numbered levels (e.g. Ocean Palace, Power Plant).

Note that SH doesn't save the scores for special stages, so you'll have to record the score immediately after you beat the special stage.

Information Kiosk / Site Icons: Upper Right, or Top of Menu?

Where should the Site Icons be located? They were originally at the top of the menu, but I decided to move them to the upper right corner. Apparently, some people think they're not visible in the upper right corner, so I've decided to ask everyone where they think the icons should be located.

EDIT: I changed the poll options and reset the vote count. "Top of Menu" and "Under Logo" are now two different items, because Chaos Angel and Super Mario (Night) have a bit of space between the logo and the menu.

EDIT 2: Don't stupidly select "Other" if you're not going to post why. I tempbanned DarkspinesSonic and Bertin (for 1 day) for being stupid and doing this. [Well, not so much DsS - he changed his vote.]

Bugs / Sitewide points not removed if a player's stats are suspended

If a player's stats are suspended, their sitewide points total will not be removed; however, said total doesn't seem to interfere with the rankings of the new sitewide points. Their sitewide points should be marked as 'OLD' in this case.

I've added a new feature for division icons. If you have Icon View enabled, go look at a Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles chart. Instead of saying "Sonic", "Tails", or "Knuckles", it will show icons representing the various characters.

Question: Should the division icon view be a separate option from title screen icon view?

Also, comments / suggestions?

I've decided that I'm leaving TSC. Why? Several reasons. First off, I'm getting irritated with constantly being put down in the chatroom. It's like everyone there thinks that the only things I can say are "no u", "fu", etc. Second, it's getting quite boring fixing stuff that breaks all the time. So, I've decided to move with my auntie and uncle in Bel-Air. I begged and pleaded with her the other day, but she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way. She gave me a kissin' and she gave me my ticket. I put my walkman on and said I might as well kick it. First class, yo this is bad, drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass. Is this what the people of bel-air livin' like, hmm this might be alright! I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "fresh" and had a dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought now forget it, yo home to Bel-Air. I pulled up to a house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabby "yo, home smell you later." Looked at my kingdom I was finally there to settle my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air.

TUSC News / S1MM rankings fixed

I fixed the problems with S1MM rankings, but totals won't be recalculated correctly until every S1MM player submits a new stat in each division in each category. If you're playing in S1MM, please submit a new stat in each division in each category so totals can be calculated correctly.

Also, partial totals for rings and scores weren't calculated before due to the way partial totaling was configured. If you submitted there, please submit (or resubmit) a stat to get your partial total calculated.

Welcome to The Mario Center! In this subsite, you can compete in various games in the Super Mario Bros. series. Currently, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 (aka "The Lost Levels"), and Super Mario World are available for competition. We will be adding more games later this week.

EDIT: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES and SNES versions), Wario Land 3 and 4, and New Super Mario Bros. are open for business.

Information Kiosk / Player Matchup now uses AJAX

I rewrote the Player Matchup page to use AJAX. Basically, this means that the page won't refresh when changing the various dropdowns. I will be converting other aspects of TSC to use AJAX later on.

I will still retain the old non-AJAX pages for those of you who don't have compatible browsers. There's no user setting yet, but I will eventually add one to enable or disable AJAX.

Does anyone know how to copy photos off of the Wii Message Board onto an SD card? Elecmouse101 sent me a bunch of photos from his copy of Sonic Rush, but I can't get them off the stupid thing to analyze the times.

Information Kiosk / Partial Special Stage Totals

Apparently, there was a bug where special stage totals were not calculated if all charts weren't submitted. I changed the total function so now special stage totals will be calculated, even if you don't have every chart submitted. (Note that this only affects special stages that are tracked by rings. Sonic CD's special stages use time, so those aren't affected.)

If you have submitted special stage stats to games where special stages are tracked by rings, but don't have the whole chart submitted, consider submitting another stat so your partial total gets calculated.

Also note that this fix affects any game where charts of type SCORE or RINGS are not in the Scores, Rings, or Ring Chains categories.

I have a random idea for a new feature: Chart Exporting. Basically, you'd be able to export any chart on TSC to a file (probably in OpenDocument Spreadsheet format). This would require rewriting the table generation functions to support more than HTML, but once that's done, I could add some other stuff, too:

- Export all charts for a single player to a single file.
- Export all charts for a single game to a single file.

Any thoughts?

We know you both have been submitting fake times for SA2(B). Stop submitting fake times or you will face the BANHAMMER.

I suggest you two redo all the stats that you have submitted thus far and then submit your new stats. (Considering your stats are all yellow and worse, this might help you improve.)

The Message Icon Selection is partly broken on Cerulean. The table doesn't show up with the right border style, resulting in the "Selected" border appearing screwy.
