I was writing a Media Studies essay on the movie Philadelphia when Microsoft Word's squiggly green lines gave me this gem:

In conclusion: compuiters speak the English goodly.

Everyone except douglas (for obvious reasons) is allowed to submit times for this game.  Please PM me with new times; this thread should be for route discussion, video submissions etc.

The Great Forest

The Plains
1. TEM - 0.17.61 (owned.  Nuff said.)

Here's my first of my requently found articles: I won't spoil the surprise now, will I?

Competition Central / Fastest Death on SA2(B) - It's fun!
« on: July 12, 2006, 09:04:33 pm »
I was recently talking to RPGnutter on MSN and he told me how he once died in 1.50 on Green Hill.

I decided to take up that challenge and try getting the fastest death ON EVERY LEVEL (mostly).

Now I have decided to set up this subchallenge (sanctioned by RPGnutter) as the Fastest Death Challenge!  Every mission 1 (minus R101) plus Wild Canyon 5 will be available for competition.  Rather than do a ranking system, I will judge the winner by total time (assuming he does all the levels; I haven't but will by the end).  Deadline is on July 29th at 9:00 PM EST.

There are only two rules:

1. YOU CANNOT USE RESTART TO REGISTER A TIME.  This is a fastest death contest, not a rapid-pause contest.  Your character must physically die, whether being hit by an enemy, jumping into a pit or otherwise.
2. All levels with Eggman REQUIRE the health upgrade.  This makes the levels more challenging.

PS - This is not the place to discuss strats.  They can be discussed on a thread in the General Sonic section.

Here are the time rankings (they will be updated as people submit times):

City Escape
1. RPGnutter - 31.04
2. ParagonX9 - 32.10
3. SadisticMystic - 35.54

Competition Central / Since we don't have a division of this yet...
« on: February 21, 2006, 05:50:37 pm »
I've started to time attack Stealth's hack of Sonic 1 and Knuckles.  I've only done Green Hill 1 so far, but I'll edit this post as soon as I time attack some more.  My strategies are partially based on the Sonic 1 TAS at nesvideos.

Here are my current times with the known record in brackets (NB: for Fianl Zone, I only put my time as a record considering that I have no other evidence of anyone else TAing Final Zone; me getting the record is bound to change).

Green Hill 1 - 0.24 (record: 0.22 by SadisticMystic)
Green Hill 2 - ?.?? (record: 0.14 by mike89)
Green Hill 3 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)

Marble 1 - ?.?? (record: 0.18 by eredani)
Marble 2 - ?.?? (record: 0.22 by mike89)
Marble 3 - ?.?? (record: 0.39 by mike89)

Spring Yard 1 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Spring Yard 2 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Spring Yard 3 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)

Labyrinth 1 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Labyrinth 2 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Labyrinth 3 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)

Star Light 1 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Star Light 2 - ?.?? (record: 0.25 by mike89)
Star Light 3 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)

Scrap Brain 1 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Scrap Brain 2 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)
Scrap Brain 3 - ?.?? (record: ?.?? by ???)

Final Zone - 1.13 (record: 1.12 by SadisticMystic)

Post your times and we'll have some forum competition until Rolken comes to his senses and adds a Knux division to Sonic 1.

Unofficial standings coming when I like it XD

« on: February 06, 2006, 07:49:35 pm »
In the news articles, a video submission (already a few updates old) proclaims:

New Video: eredani achieved 1:08 in S&K on Mushroom Hill 2 (Knuckles)

Yet there is no evidence that eredani did any video at all, nor is he on the list of contributors.  A little explanation would be nice.

Competition Central / possible book idea...
« on: December 14, 2005, 02:28:16 pm »
Looking at how accurate many of the guides are on the site, I was thinking that we could have one guide for each mission recorded by TSC for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and put it online as one publication: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for Dummies (Written by Champions, for n00bs)

Anyway, discuss.  Come here to praise my idea or laugh in my face.  Your choice.  Also, don't forget to submit your guides to the TSC Guides section.

Just an idea.

Wikkity! / An orginal Lyric-Guessing Game...
« on: October 30, 2005, 11:57:12 pm »
TSC has had its share of lyric-guessing games.  And though they are weird, none can compare to the one, the ultimate:

NUMERICAL LYRICS!!!

This game provides a double-challenge: to decipher the code AND guess the lyrics of the song in the code.

The rules of this game are very simple:
  • Each letter is represented by its corresponding letter in the alphabet (for example, the code for A is 1, the code for B is 2, the code for Z is 26).
  • Each letter is separated by a dash, and each word is separated by two spaces (for example, 6-21-3-11  15-6-6 decodes to…well, you figure it out).
  • Punctuation is not coded (e.g. a comma is -,)
  • Each individual round consists of the opening coded lyrics of a song (usually one verse or the first few line).
  • The first person to post the right band receives 1 point
  • The first person to post the right song receives 2 points
For example, here are the two opening lines of Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers, uncoded:

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;

Here they are coded:

1-8-,  6-15-18  10-21-19-20  15-14-5  20-9-13-5  9  23-15-21-12  20-1-11-5  20-8-5  14-15-18-20-8-23-5-19-20  16-1-19-19-1-7-5
6-9-14-4  20-8-5  8-1-14-4  15-6  6-18-1-14-11-12-9-14  18-5-1-3-8-9-14-7  6-15-18  20-8-5  2-5-1-21-6-15-18-20  19-5-1-;

Enjoy!  The first round is coming soon.

Beef / New Ninty vids don't work
« on: September 17, 2005, 08:00:47 pm »
Every time I try to open up one of NintenDan's new vids it keeps asking me to log in as Shadow Wedge (must be something bout SW's hosting system).  Also, the Sonic R videos page redirects (for some strange reason) to the SADX videos page.

Wikkity! / I think it's time to apologize...
« on: August 31, 2005, 11:47:23 am »
As the new TSC comes up and I finally have the time to write this, I think it's time I shed my new skin as well.  I believe I have some apologies to make before I start resubmitting everything that got deleted.

Firstly, I would like to apologize specifically to Cybrax, for thinking that, simply because someone sharing his SN had attacked and destroyed other forums, that he was the one responsible for attacking TSC.  No hard feelings, man; I hadn't realized that the attack's culprit had already been found and I desparately wanted TSC back.

Secondly, I would like to apologize to RPGnutter for getting him whipped up in my so-called "Cybrax conspiracies" and making him believe things which are false.

Lastly, I would like to apologize to all the cheaters, liers and anyone in the "banned" section of the forum whom I have heckled previously.  I was desparate at that time in my life to gain some power, and I guess I gained it the wrong way.

I hope (please?) that people will forgive me and that I can restart with a clean record.

Sincerely,

theenglishman

Wikkity! / PIANO WARS!!!!!!!!!!
« on: December 16, 2004, 09:22:55 am »
I have recently been pwning Sonic's soundtrack and learning several music pieces BY EAR from various Sonic games.  Here are the ones I have learned so far:

Sonic 1 Intro
Green Hill
Star Light
Sonic 2 Boss Theme
Metal Harbour

I'm trying to get the Sonic 1 boss theme, but I need the full music file.

Anyone else learned anything on the piano from Sonic?

I just beat Sonic 2 and I want to know how to get stage select in it.

As well, does anyone have some advice for SS101 on Chemical Plant 2? (he's stuck)

Information Kiosk / What powers the submissions board?
« on: November 26, 2004, 04:42:39 pm »
I'm trying to create a record site for Crash Bandicoot games, and I want to use what powers TSC's submission board.  So, Rolken, what script do you use?
