Post the games that you own and have owned. Note that the command form is used and it is therefore imperative that you do so. Also note that you will likely be judged based solely on your response and that all future judgements and decisions pertaining to you wil probably stem solely from your first reply and first reply only, redemption impossible unless time was somehow manipulated to enable you to travel to any given period after your birth and before the moment of posting. In other words, just have fun with it.

What can I say, I missed a good age in gaming and now have to buy everything used if I can find it at all. Although, ROMs help. Not that I would...ever use them, of course. Ahem. I did not include games that I borrowed or rented but...why would I?

Precisely.

Edit: I remembered two games that I forgot to add to the list: Stimpy's Invention and Sonic 3D Blast. I also got Baten Kaitos today. So meh.

Second Edit: I got Sonic Mega Collection today. Yay.

Third Edit: I bought Soul Calibur II today, and remembered that I owned the genesis version of Frogger. It was a good port.

Fourth Edit: Hey, another mild edit! I almost got Killer 7 today, until the cashier realized that it was rated M. Then, the person who I had buy it for me gave it to me in front of them. Idiot. After that, I talked to the cashier and offered to buy the game for him and exchange it for Perfect Dark when he went on break, making it an off-the-books deal, but he was paranoid and thought I was from the ESRB.  Instead, I bought Viewtiful Joe. Only  after getting home did I realize that I should have claimed that I was from the ESRB, claimed I bought Perfect Dark off their cashier (it has an 'M' rating), and said that I would report them unless they let me buy Killer 7. I think I'll try this again some other day.

Fifth Edit: I just bought Dragon Warrior Monsters today. It's addictingly fun. I also fixed Viewtiful Joe by rubbing it in toothpaste. Thank you gamestop for the somehow valid advice.

Sixth Edit: I bought Final Fantasy III, and was given Yoshi Touch & Go and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin as gifts. Yoshi Touch & Go is ok, and Portrait of Ruin is pretty much the same as Dawn of Sorrow, only this time you have subweapons which are only useful after tedious enemy farming instead of souls which are kind of ok when you first get them.

People tend to like money, am I right? And people tend to have schemes to get/save money, am I right?

Yes.

So why not post some of them?

I'll post one that I thought of today that is genius. If you like the price reduction that you get on used games but don't like to chance having a scratched disc or some such similair defect, then buy a new copy of the game and return it, marking the cover in some way which will make it stand out. Then, when the clerk whom you returned the game to leaves, pick out that copy of the game. If it was opened and returned, it has to be marked as "Used". Thus, when buying it, you save money on a game that would have cost you more (generally $10-$20, depending on the price of a new copy).

Another idea I had is to withdraw a large ammount of money from a bank and deposit it in another bank, collecting interest. Generally, banks don't charge you interest on loans until after the first week. Then, from that bank, take out an even larger sum of money, returning the original to the bank. Keep doing this until you have a large ammount of funds. Then, say, flee the country or something similair.  Perhaps, to be slightly more legal, buy stock and wait on it. Then, when it reaches a decent profit, sell it. Now you're likely a millionare. "Sweet".

Capitalism is easy to exploit.

The majority of video games suck. Most every sensible player has realised this. Unfortunately, by the time it becomes clear that a game, you know, sucks, it has likely been purchased. And returning games can be dumb at times, if not frowned upon. With most reviews being "zomg  it's from a certain series and therefore good", games are rarely ranked judiciously and tend to sound better than they really are.

So I propose that we create a user-based list of games that don't suck. Someone would nominate a game for not sucking, and it would either be approved or contested. This would affect the percentage of people who liked the game (approved/total), and give people an idea of which games to avoid or otherwhise. Think Rotten Tomatoes but on a smaller scale and for people who are a little more critical of games. If a game reached below a certain percent after a certain ammount of votes, it would be stricken from the list and perhaps moved to a section like "Games that Suck or are Meh on the Whole". Since this would be a list of games not that people partially enjoyed but instead of those that people had a great time playing, then the percentage for a game being considered "not sucky", would be somewhat high (something such as 80%). A suggested game might even be ranked within system or genre.

I know that this sounds ambitious and should be given low priority, but I just want to run the suggestion by. Rolken is busy so if this were to be eventually implimented into the site's layout, it would likely be forum-based.

And perhaps on a slightly less drastic scale, something along the lines of a "Gaming Reviews" section should be created.

Thoughts?

Also if I remember correctly, this is the first post in which I have used the word "suck".

Wikkity! / I Call Internet Scavenger Hunt
« on: June 09, 2006, 03:15:35 pm »
A game of sorts, prove that the internet is crazy. Basically, find one page per category listed and pm them to me. You'll be given one point to start off with for a given category but will be awarded more for extra zanyness (pst news articles generally aren't zany). Also submit them in one large batch and not in several messages. In other words, google your hearts out. What you send to me will be posted at a later date.

Note that this will likely be round based and have some sort of menial reward, such as your name in my signature. By the way, if you can design a decent signature for myself then you may receive bonus points of sorts. But eh.

A few sites are banned from posting solely because they are either satirical,  humor-themed, or a collection of information, and will result in a point deduction if linked to. The current list of banned sites is:

THIS PLUS MORE!
Wikipedia
The Onion
Uncyclopedia
The Best Page in the Universe
Encyclopedia Dramatica
eBay
TSC (what you're on now)
Any page quoting Jack Thompson (not the site, though)
News Sites
Blogs (or at least blogs by regular people, something by, say, a celebrity is admissable)

Also use common sense when sending me the links. Investigate the site first, to make sure it is not supposed to be mocking something else. And so on.

Here comes the first batch. Submit your links by June 22.

1) Child raising
2) Literacy
3) Tennis
4) Vampires
5) Lights
6) Stuffed animals
7) Mimes
8) Immortality
9) Modding
10) Grab Bag (as in, any page that you see fit that isn't banned)

Also no flash.

Wikkity! / Fighting the School Administration
« on: March 29, 2006, 12:06:41 am »
If you do not know, I go to a high school.

And now you do.

This High School had a change in administration this year. The new principal has adopted several new policies that adversely affect both students and teachers. For example, teachers are not allowed to stay in school for more than 30 minutes after school is dismissed (it supposedly helps the janitors). Students are forbidden from entering the library before 7:20 (10 minutes before first period begins, also assuming that the librarians aren't incompetent). I could go on about mid-term exemptions, the cutting of all languages other than French and Italien, etc, but I'll save space. Nobody likes the actions that the administration is taking. However, one of these policies prevents protest. The policy, copied word for word from a school handbook, reads as follows:

Quote
Insubordination: Any student disobeying a direct order from any member of the school staff will be suspended indefinately.

This applies to any order given, even if two orders are conflicting. As of the half-year, 40 of 3000 students have been suspended on this policy simply for raising mild dissent among the school, ie, questioning the principal. The teachers cannot raise objection, either; one long-standing teacher (I believe that they were teaching for 20 years) was fired for just that reason.

The administration has also handled school events poorly. We had one "code blue lockdown", where students were instructed to lock all doors, close all windows, and move into the center of the rooms. Nobody knew that a code blue was a drug search as they have not explained the emergency key. Many thought that some cataclysmic event had befallen the school, another egregious oversight that said incompetent rulers did not think of or address.

We have had 3 bomb scares. Had they been real threats, a large population of the school would be dead. On one day, a bomb threat was phoned in within the school's first period, but we were not evacuated from the building for 2 hours. In another incident, there were claims that the cafeteria had been rigged to a remote detonator, and again the reaction was slow. In a final incident, someone wrote "bomb" on a piece of paper and left it on the principal's desk. The school was flushed out in 10 minutes.

I have contacted the superintendant, who sees nothing wrong with the problem. I see no way to revoke the policies without getting expelled. It's martial law. I can either accept it or leave, but I wish to do neither because I have friends in the school. The one option that I see open is to write an editorial for submission to the local papers, but the school is somehow recognised as high-achieving. Probably because the administration cuts corners to make things easier, in a bad way, for students (example, if you have greater than a C for a semester, you don't have to take a midterm or final).

What should I do to remove the unjust decisions made by the incompetent school officials without being suspended?

Wikkity! / American Society is Crumbling as I Speak
« on: March 03, 2006, 03:32:44 pm »
I recently had the candid unpleasure of having to participate literary discussion of Ray Bradbury's masterpiece, Farenheit 451, by a bunch of sniveling 9th graders with inflated egos, an exorbitant level of self-reverence, and the attention spans of the lowliest sub-moron with a horrible twitch. A point can be made that I myself fall into that category, it's impossible to disprove one way or another. Also, that last sentence was an allusion. Albeit, a reworded allusion, but the point stands that you should recognise it on contact. Perhaps on point, but I digress.

Throughout this festival of idiocy, the butchering of a work, a recurring theme I heard from the participants (they were American students) was that Ray Bradbury's society could never develop, that there could never be a dystopian empire such as that depicted. The irony being that one the recurring themes of the story is that the ignorant can never recognise their own ignorance.

I interjected at this moment, and began to talk about how the declination of society has allready allowed for Bradbury's nightmare to become a reality (eye of the beholder, I suppose). They disagreed, thought that things had made a drastic change since the writing of Farenheit. Surely with television and the internet, people can absorb more information, learn about new topics, expand their horizons. Thought is encouraged, not frowned upon, in this meek malignant myriad of modern memorandic media. They insisted that the majority of Americans were well versed in politics, foreign affairs, internal affairs, and philosophy. According to them, advertisements and other vapid scenarios are easily blocked out by all who watch them, meaning they have no adverse effect on thought (note that the words "advertisement" and "adverse" share the same root, the Romans knew quite a bit). Guss again, morons, or perhaps you would like to guess again.

They attempted to refute my points, things were said, and the discussion ended. So, doing what I always do when I want to prove people wrong, I devised a test. A real test, one that should really be incorporated by scantron. I call it "The Survey of Incopetence". It does just that, forcing people to confront their own ignorance. Take this test to show just how enlightened, or most likely not, you are. For full effect, you should be American, but I'm sure that it can be universally applied to unroot the universal ignorance of the world. Do not use Wikipedia, Google, or any other source. You're being a hypocrite and seemingly increasing your own intelligence. And on.

The Survey of Incompetence

1) Name 4 countries from each continent (excluding Australia and Antarctica).
2) Name 2 currently declared wars that do not directly involve the United States.
3) What is the difference between socialism and capitilism?
4) What is the core point of anarchism?
5) What is the Sudan?
6) Who is the president of the United States?
7) Who is the chief prime minister of England?
8) Who is the chief prime minister of Canada?
9) Who is the leader of Russia?
10)In what year did the Soviet Union officially collapse?
11)What type of government is the United States?
12)What type of government is England?
13)Who was the first winner of American Idol?
14)Name 8 reality shows.
15)Name 10 actors.
16)When was the last civil uprising in France?
17)How many people are there on Earth?
18)Name 1 soap opera.

The Results
After the survey, I compiled a list of how many people got each question right/wrong (test administered to 25 people). Here are the results, making me a little uneasy with these future administrative individuals having access to nuclear weapons:

1)Right:10 Wrong:15
2)Right:0 Wrong:25
3)Right:8 Wrong:17
4)Right:2 Wrong:23
5)Right:14 Wrong:11
6)Right:25 Wrong:0
7)Right:16 Wrong:9
8)Right:0 Wrong:25
9)Right:0 Wrong:25
10)Right:10 Wrong:15
11)Right:0 Wrong:25 (It's not a democracy!)
12)Right:0 Wrong:25
13)Right:18 Wrong:7
14)Right:25 Wrong:0
15)Right:25 Wrong:0
16)Right:1 Wrong:24
17)Right:12 Wrong:13
18)Right:25 Wrong:0

I did not just use the test on the students, but on the teachers as well, 8 of them to be exact. The supposedly intellectual sect of society which clearly isn't. Americans pay more attention to themselves than the outside world, demonstrated by the correct culture questions, which is most dangerous. The fact that the majority of people didn't know that France is on the verge of being overthrown by its own citizens sets off an alarm.

I can't speak for other areas of the world on this, though, which is why I want the feedback/results of the test from people residing other countries. Also, note that the I realise full well that these results are not indicative of every individual in America, there are still some intelligent people that live there. I also am not calling you an idiot if you don't get the important questions right, I'm just demonstrating the point that subliminal advertisements have a larger effect than most people think.

The DS is out today. I'm leaving to get one in 5 minutes. Pwned. If you didn't pre-order, you'll need to wait until about Christmas to get yours. Then again, I've been waiting obsessively for this, so this may not seem like that big of a deal to somebody...um self-pwned?[embed src="http://www107.sakura.ne.jp/~onoken/bms/p8107.mp3" width=0 height=0 loop=true]

General Sonic / Best Record Nomination Topic
« on: July 28, 2004, 01:28:21 pm »
I thought that since there was a topic for Best 2-D/3-D/Overall player, there should also be a topic for the best 2-D and 3-D record (an overall record wouldn't really work, as that would fall under the latter categories). Just like in Mike's topic, you nominate 1 record for both types, and a record requires 3 votes to make it into the poll. This topic will remain open until Saturday, when nominations close. Then, I will make a poll for best 2-D record, and a day later (don't ask me why I picked 1 day) a topic for the best 3-D record. You can't nominate your own record. When nominating a record, give the User, Game, Character, Category, Level/Boss, and time. I'll do the first nomination.
2-D Record: Turbos SADV3 Sonic+Tails N/A Toy Kingdom 1 43:63
3-D Record: P1 Pause SA2:B, N/A, Freestyle Mission 1, Cannon's Core, 06:52
I nominated Turbo's Toy Kingdom, because even though I came close to beating it, it's still a really good time.

Information Kiosk / Significance of score submissions
« on: July 25, 2004, 11:08:12 pm »
I think that score submissions be given weight in the rankings. Score is just as important as speed in many games-in some, its actually more important (a sub-2 minute Radical Highway doesn't always mean an 'A' rank). It requires a lot of skill to get a good score, and time isn't always the biggest factor in it. Score should be given an equal part in the rankings, so that a great score doesn't just give you a useless record. It involves just as much strategy as time-attacking, so it should be added to the rankings.

Competition Central / Double team blast glitch
« on: June 22, 2004, 05:57:01 pm »
I found a glitch in Sonic Heroes that allows you to do something that is sort of like a double team blast. As team sonic, after a team blast, pressing A and B at the same time with sonic as leader will make him go flying arond like he does in team blast. It homes in on surviving enemies, and can cause some hefty damage on certain bosses. Should this be allowed in the regular submissions, or should I put it under freestyle if I use this glitch to attain better times?

Competition Central / Hm, this just occured to me....
« on: May 28, 2004, 07:49:16 am »
Now, I just realized that Sonic Advance 2 has an option at the options menu for easy mode. Now, unless the times aren't saved in that mode, or if it makes no true difference, freestyle should be added because of it, or the rules should be ammended to state you can't use easy mode for the game. I just wanted to point that out.

Beef / Mozilla firefox cerainly does NOT rock my socks.
« on: May 28, 2004, 07:34:28 am »
Now, I know this has nothing to do with sonic or the site, but my old browser stopped running java. After Sprintgod recommended it in IRC, I downloaded mozilla. And unless  downloaded the wrong version (Mozilla Firefox.8) then Its terrible. You have to reapetedly press the enter key so it can get to web sites, it still doesn't run java, the advice about how to fix that problem is useless and doesn't help, and images don't appear at all. I'm positive that it's not my computer, so can anybody help me out in order to fix it? Oh, and also, it takes forever to post. I tried to post this topic like 4 times to get it working.

General Sonic / The Sonic trivia topic
« on: May 24, 2004, 05:32:04 pm »
Despite the fact that S.M is the master of Sonic trivia, I still think we should have a sonic trivia topic. I'll come up with some questions, and give them point values from 1-10.

EDIT: DO NOT post answers in the topic; send a PM instead. If you get a question wrong, I'll post about it and you can't answer it again. Also, when typing a PM, put the question number instead of the quetion; it's easier that way.

Also, don't use google;it's an easy way to get certain answers. Here are some questions:
  • 1)1 pts: Which music group sings "Open your heart"?
2)1pts:Who is the president of Sonic team?
3)1 pts:Which new Sonic game will be for the Nintendo DS?
4)1 pts:What was the first attack to be in any Sonic game?
5)1 pts:What is the full name of Eggman?
6)2 pts: Which Artist wrote eggman's theme from SA2?
7)2 pts: Which level makes Knuckles feel "kinda stuck"?
8)2 pts: This boss is the ultimate life form (will cause plot debate)
9)2 pts:Chaos _,_, and _ are not in Sonic Adventure,
10)3 pts: This character from chaotix blows up when attacked
11)3 pts: Define "Chao", and write a paragraph about how much you love them XD.
12)3 pts: Which Sonic level has a mechanical version of itself?
13)4 pts: How many Emblems are attainable in Sonic Heroes without playing Challenge (don't cheat now :P)
14)5 pts: Name 3 characters from previous Sonic games who are no longer in the series (No Adventure or chaotix characters)
15)6 pts: How many random ring containers are in Sonic's Emerald Coast?
16)7 pts: How many emeralds are in Sonic Triple Trouble?
I'll come up with more later; for now, just answer these.

Gaming and Grazing / Cost of the Nintendo DS
« on: May 22, 2004, 05:19:27 pm »
How much do you think nintendo's new power-packed system will cost? It has 3-D capabilities, network abilities, 2 screens, a touch screen, a stylus, the ability to chat,a drawing capability, and a sort of keyboard on the second screen for chat. I'd say that the DS will probably cost  $125 dollars with the networking feature playing a huge part of that.

Competition Central / I think I figured out Cybrax's strategy for
« on: May 03, 2004, 06:40:06 pm »
While playing Metal Harbor today, I tried to figure out how Cybrax got his awesome time in Metal Harbor. The time is currently not displayed, but I'll submit my time for it eventually so it will appear. I think the time was somewhere around 58 seconds......but I'm not sure. Anyway, I played Metal Harbor through, wasting many lives by jumping and spindashing in the hopes of finding a secret route. I went up to the area where you get the light shoes, and took the hook/rope/whatever up. I saw the tower where the missile is launched at the level, and then I realized what to do. First, you need to bounce attack to get on top of the roof. To do this, simply go to the platform where the light shoes are and bounce up, homing attacking at your jumps peak. From there, go to the corner of the platform, charge spin dash, and released when you're nearly at maximum. Homing attack when you near the Missile Launching platform. If all went well, you should hit the platform  and fall down. Iif done wrong, you plummet to your death. From there, just continue the level as normal, making as few errors as possible. I messed up at the end, so I didn't submit my tme,but I will soon. Ph33r me!

Information Kiosk / I know the site IS called soniccenter,but...
« on: April 30, 2004, 03:22:20 pm »
I'm not sure how everybody will feel about this idea, but what if we could submit times for games that aren't Sonic? Don't get me wrong, sonic is still great, but some games are so popular,or fun, that we should be considered for time submissions if they have an internal clock. Super Smash Brothers Melee, Kid Chameleon, pretty much any racing game, and maybe even Mario games to name a few. Don't flame me about this if you don't like the idea, it's just a suggestion.

Gaming and Grazing / I'm looking for an emulation of a game
« on: April 29, 2004, 10:46:06 pm »
I doubt that anybody has even heard of this game, let alone played it, but does anybody here have a link to an emulaion of Chameleon Kid for the genesis/megadrive? It was a really fun game,as good as the classic sonics, but it is also rare, so an online version would work. I liked the game as soon as I played it, but whenever I look for an emulation via google, I can't find it. But does anybody have a place where I can download it? If so, thanks.

General Sonic / I got a chaos emerald?
« on: April 26, 2004, 06:48:40 pm »
yesterday, I played the level Power Plant as team Rose to get the mission 2 emblem. I grabbed the key and entered the special stage. In the special stage, I caught up to the chaos emerald. However, when I looked at the Power Plant level as Team Rose, it says that I don't have the emerald, along with the other characters. Can team rose not collect emeralds? Can only a certain team do that? Or do I need to play the special stage from the first level in the zone as well? And also, 1 time I collected a chaos emerald as 2 different teams in the second level, but it said all 4 teams had aqquired emeralds. If somebody can explain this, it will be appreciated.

« on: April 17, 2004, 12:19:29 pm »
wow, I submitted 2:14:47 for Twinkle park, beleiving that it was a good time because I kept playing the level over and over again, finding 2 huge shortcuts that can greatly shorten the level. However, it turns out that F-man's record is 1:23:91. F-man, I know about the shortcut that you take involving homing attacking a spring to gain extra height, skipping a part of the level, and the shortcut where you spindash over the top of a castle, bringing you to the end of the level, but is there any other major shortcut I'm missing that can get me an incredibly lower time? Or do I just need to go through the part of the level with the kart incredibly fast?

Competition Central / CG cinema

Ok, after beating a few levels in Sonic Heroes, I decided I wanted to view one of the scenes because of it's amazing graphics. I selected CG Cinema, but when I looked for the scene, it wasn't there. There was only the opening movie. In order to unlock this, do I need to beat the whole story of a character? Or do I just collect more emblems? Or is my game just defective?

Competition Central / Ages in the instruction booklet
« on: April 13, 2004, 03:48:54 pm »
what the hell is up with the ages listed in the instruction booklet? I mean, come on, Tails sounds like a teenager in the other games, but now he sounds like an obnoxious 6 year old, not an obnoxious 8 year old. And Charmy Bee, the obnoxious 6 year old, sounds like an obnoxious 4 year old. And a few other things. Sonic and Knuckles couldn't possibly be able to travel around the world if they were only 15 and 16 years old. I mean, they would need to go to school. The same with Espio,Cream, and Amy. And Espio+Charmy can't work in a detective agency at their ages. Also, think about Rouge being 17. A 17 year old would not do the things Rouge does XD My final problem with the ages is Big the cat. At his weight, living past the age of 12 was a miracle. ok, that having been said, this game is teh pwnage!

Wikkity! / Stress releif to the max

Everybody hates their computer, right? Ever feel like using a hammer to get it's cooperation? Well, now you can :D while browsing the internet, one of my friends had e-mailed me a link to a great game. A game in which the current screen you are viewing is replicated, and you can use all sorts of weapons on it, varying from termites to a flamethrower. However, you need a program in order to download it. click this to get the program required to run it.The program is Lite Version of Peter. After that, go here and select Desktop Games, the 11th one down. You can also select Desktop Games Christmassy, but the weapons have the same exact effect. In order to leave the program, you need to press the key on the keyboard that brings up the start up bar. escape doesn't work for me. Anyway, you wil like the game, trust me.
P.S.....It's my birthday! pwn'd!

Gaming and Grazing / The new N-gage
« on: March 23, 2004, 06:22:48 pm »
Ok, this is the third time I've posted this message. I posted it 2 times on the news forum. I think "N-gage" may be recognised as some kind of vulgar language. Anyway, heres what I posted 2 times:
I was watching tech tv,when a commercial for an N-gage came up. They started talking about how the N-gage was so awesome. I muself played the N-gage, finding it to be a primitive piece of garbage. However, when they showed a screenshot of one of the games (I think it was Tomb Raider) the graphics, although not the best, where pretty good, other than the slightly pixilated images. Heh, they showed this thing olaying 3-D games. They showed the cartridges for Sonic the hedgegehog,Splinter cell,Tomb raider, some fighting game, and some others I can't remember. You can also play multiplayer just by sending some message thing to anybody you want to play. Now, that itself is very impressive. The next part is what makes it better. This new N-gage is also a cell phone. Yes, a cell phone. When you receive a call, it automatically pauses your game. You can call people, and you can send some type of text message. It also doubles as an MP3 player, with a memory card that you can rip some music from your computer onto. You can play your favorite music instead of standard video game music during play! They described some crisp-sound feature, with free headphones as well. Finally, this new N-gage somehow has limited e-mail acces, though It didn't describe that very much. The controls looked something like a Control pad to the left of the screen, with  buttons to the right of the screen, but they didn't do a close-up of it. THis is so much better than the old kind. I wish I could get one, but oh well. Just to tell you. Watch Tech TV, chanel 120 where I live, and you're bound to see the commercial.Just....wow!
Edit: I just found out that this also has an F.M. radio. I have a link to an article about the new N-gage. Click Here.  See, I do have proof.
